9600XT? I ask this because first of all im poor and GTA SA IS know to crash on that series of cards so I want maybe alitte bit of a better card then a 9600XT from nvidia Thanks

Ugh, the fx series but stay away from them. I currently have a fx5700, and the only reason I use it is because it was free. Tell us your budget and we'll help you out.

Your on AGP correct?

just get a Used 9800PRO or XT for cheapp on the FS/T

yeah the FX series aren't that good... maybe drop $200 on a 6800GT

I just so happen to have a 9800 Pro flashed to XT bios with an aftermarket cooler runs 100% card for sale ^^

Yes AGP I wanted to stay away from ATI beause of the know issue with GTA SA and random crashes hows a 6600GT? AGP

The 6600GT's are a really good bang for you buck. The 9800pro, is also a really good card. ATi/Nvidia are both good.

If I could have chosen between a 6600GT and my 9800 Pro when I bought it (Never used to keep up with release dates.. But the day after I installed my 9800Pro, the 6600GT became available and was cheaper... /sigh) I would have most definately gone with the 6600GT.

If you have a budget of 150-200, want to go nVidia, and need AGP, look at the 6800NU lines. It's not the equivalent... it's better!

Get the 6800 NU, its your best bet, plus you can have the bonus option of unlocking those extra pipelines and geting some GT Performance out of it

Rad - I wouldnt even mention unlocking pipes and OCing for him. From his posts, he probably doesnt know what that means, and you might get his hopes up too much. Plz read that other thread about "its not all about unlocking and OCing!"

Yes, the 6800NU is a good choice at that price. The 6600GT is also very good for its price. I wouldn't pass up OVERCLOCKED's 9800Pro->XT card either, depending on the price.

Yeah, I agree. RAD that seems to be a little to much. Anyway's Format, I would go with the 6600GT, best bang for your buck in that category.

I think a 6800GS would be a good bet. It's NEW and $199. The performance is GREAt too. Performance equal to a x850xt stock I think. My friend has an x850xt and stock he gets 5600 3dmark05. The guy in that other thread (real world 6800GS benchmarks), got like 5600 marks stock too. Then he OCed to 6500.

the 6800gs is equal to a 6800gt, and a 6800gt was on par with the x800xl, the x850xt is a step higher

I dont know how you guys do it...

I have P4 3.2HT 1.5GB PC2700 GeForce 6800NU core=450/mem=700 w/ pixel unlock

I can't break 4000 on 3Dmark05

wtf? Whats up with that? You running on default 1024x768 no AA no af?
My mates 6600GT overclocked can get 4000 easy.

Yeah, I have to agree with acidic. The X850XT is at least as fast as an X1800XL; and that's the 7800GT's competitive range. The 6800GS would have to be considerably below that.

I also reccomend going with a 6600GT. It's faster than the 9800pro in most cases and it has support for SM3.0 (just in case you ever decide to play some more visually down the road).

Dunno man... I just run with the 3Dmark05 defaults... what should I be setting it to in order to get a "industry standard" number that I can compare against???

.

Are you smoking something? the X850XT is nowhere near the X1800XL, nor the 7800 GT
