x38/48 shuttle

Im interested in getting one of these shuttles for HD4850 crossfire

im wondering if anyone has tried this and if there is any issue with heat, i dont exactly mind alot of heat as long as its stable in summer and would not crash on me

also how loud is this shuttle? and how can i reduce the noise?

some have said the PSU fan in the SX38 and SX48 is loud. it is possible to replace it but you shouldn't unless you know what you are doing (the capacitors in there are easily capable of killing you even when not plugged in).

the heat may be a concern, as these are pretty hot cards, and their single slot design means the heat is released into the case.

the psu in the X38 is loud... for an HTPC when it's under a high load. It's very tolerable in the grand scheme of pc's though. You'd be able to hear it while watching tv..

In addition, you would want to upgrade your PSU to be able to run a crossfire HD 4850 set-up. And get an extra 80mm fan to blow from the front of the case over the vid cards and out the back.
