Mhmm... my unlock quad seems to be acting up. It seems it needs more volts than before to unlock. Before I could unlock and be prime95 stable at 1.425V at 3.0GHz.

Now it seems I need to up to 1.475 volt ish to be stable. I also see alot of flicking in CS. I guess my CPU is flaking out on me. :(

Im sorry to hear that.

I bought a 720, its not stable as a quad or a tri core. lol. really. OCCT keeps telling me theres a problem with core #2.

Im returning it tomorrow to fry's. Then probably buying a 550. My dilemma is do i order online? or pay the extra bucks for it at fry's?

104 at frys but newegg comes with combos.

I guess i got very unlucky.

I have a 720BE unlocked to 4 cores and stable @ 3.2Ghz / 1.375v (200x16.0)

MoBo is the ASUS M4A78T-E

x2 550 BE unlocked on an msi-785gm-e65 and running 4 cores stable @ 3.6ghz on stock volts. Passive Water cooling with a swiftech 120.2 rad and gtz block in a raven rv02. Idles @ 21C and load is 26C.

^
How exactly are you seeing your temps when temp sensors don't work in unlock mode?

probably just using the cpu sensor on the motherboard. Most of them are accurate within 1-3C.

Hey Guys,

Phenom II 550 0928BPMW

unlocked runs stable at 3.6ghz with 1.425 volts

I want to push higher but dont know what to adjust?

i have a TA785GE motherboard.

whats the highest voltage for 24/7 use

I tried unlocking my 720 and it kinda worked got into BIOS and able to get into Asus Express Gate, but when it tries to load Windows Vista the whole computer just restarts and goes through the process again. Does this mean the 4th core is faulty? Because i'm able to use it fine in the Asus Express Gate.

The asus express gate uses only 1 core, try to increase the voltage a little to see if it works fine. If it keeps restarting you should try to underclock the cpu 1 or 2 multipliers down.

So 1.45 seems to be the 24/7 voltage huh? How much higher is it safe to go?

what is the preferred maximum temperature for phenom II chips?

1.55v on air, but that's probably even pushing it. That seems to be about where the temperatures can be an issue with quality air cooling. At least in my experience with my unlocked 550. I've pushed it up to 1.6v on water.

lol.

My cousin calls me a performance whore, because i keep wanting to get 4ghz out of the chip.

Im at 1.45 right now, and dont know if i wanna push 1.55 through it just to get 4 ghz.

Well it took me 1.6v just to boot and validate cpuz @ 4GHz, lol. But yeah, I run mine @ 1.5v 24/7. Above 3.8GHz the MHz to voltage return gets very poor.

i've unlocked my 720BE at stock voltage, and pushed it to 3.4GHz on stock voltage, but when i go to change voltages, it says "system voltage not optimized" in the bios. i'm on a gigabyte ma770t-ud3p mobo. should i just do it anyway even not optimized?

Hey guys,

On a Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H I was unable to unlock my Phenom II 550 0924BPMW no matter what settings I tried.

Oh well, I'll prolly upgrade to x3 or x4 come Xmas time ;)

I have the same set up and you'll be fine. I have mine at 3.5ghz w/ 1.45v

Unlocking succesful on

Phenom II X2 545 @3.0Ghz
CoolnQuiet Disabled (for security reasons, though it did pass a quick 15min OCCT test
Vcore Auto
Motherboard: ASUS m4a785tdm-evo bios: 0902

During the tests It goes all the way too 57°c through the motherboard included temperature sensor, I dont know if that is safe! I have stock cooler along with thoe 8mm fans one top rear and one in the front below the hdd.

I didt 15min test with CnQ on and then 20min test with CnQ off. I have pics if u wanna see. Also tell me how to find the S/N of the processor so you can have more statistics. Room temperature was around 25°C.

couldnt unlock 0925apwm. So mad i thought almost all 550 are unlockable. Just ordered new 45nm 5000+ newegg and hope it locks.
Using Ta785ge biostar board with modded bios. No boot if i turn on ACC(even with ht droppedto 1600)

Dorky82,
I have your motherboard
Mine didnt unlock first either, you said you have the modded bios so thats good.

try setting ACC to per core -2 (on all cores)
up the vcore to 1.45
lower HT to 1.6ghz
DDR2 ram set it to manual ddr2-800

and try it, i dont know if you have tried that already but just a thought.

Does it not boot up? system just goes black screen? does it crash when loading into windows?

what does it do?

I got my X3 710 to unlock on a Biostar TA785GA 128M. I built this system just to see if I could unlock the 4th core. Still running onboard graphics. The graphics get weird when the bus speed gets above 240MHz. I still need to get a good graphics card for this. The south bridge reads as a 750, but it should be a 710...

lol I just realized I was messing with HT link. Anyways I tried setting my HT to 1.6, vcore up to 1.5, and -2 on all cores, also ram to 800 and wouldnt boot up.
I even tried 0% and 2% but still no boot. Guess i got bad batch.
Anyways I already have 45nm 5000+ coming from newegg. Hope I can unlock 5000+

Hey I'd like to see the pictures! I sent you a pm message as well asking for your help as I have a Phenom II 545 and almost the same board as yours an m4a785-m and I'd like to unlock. However I still need the ram I'm buying that this week. So could you please post some pictures and tell us if the asus motherboard is giving you issues such as not saving settings when you restart the computer?

Thanks! :)

Im pretty interested in those 5000+'s post on here if you unlock it. Dang. Hope it does. quad core for 55 bucks!!

So can someone verify that ASUS motherboards keep unlocked settings even after rebooting?

I read in this thread that ASUS motherboards do unlock the 4th core on phenoms II x2 but that they must stay on at all times if not they will go back to being a dual core. Has this problem been resolved with a later bios?

Anyone knows?

I think you should because i quickly scanned your name and read it as "daystripper67mi"

lol

I was able to unlock my AMD Phenom II 550 on a GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P
vcore at 1.4
ACC at Auto
Cool and Quit disabled

Ran Prime95 for 10 hours with no errors.

But I do have 2 problems. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

With the 2 cores unlocked, the PC won't sleep properly. When it tries to wake up, it restarts and resumes windows, and this ussually takes longer than a cold boot.(it resumes only because of Hybrid mode is on too) BIOS also gives me an error and and gives me an option to revert back to default settings or use Last Good settings. If I select last good settings none of the settings change. Does anyone else have problems with the pc waking up from sleep or know why mine might be having problems?

Windows 7 XP Mode also won't work with the 2 cores unlocked. This one I kind of understand, but was wondering if anyone else has tried this feature with the 2 cores unlocked in Windows 7.

i dont use sleep mode, so i cant help you there.

are your games and apps running stable? Try upping voltage a little? to 1.45?

bios update for the motherboard?...

All my games are stable, I haven't had any issues when its unlocked, except for the sleep and XP Mode.

I did update the Bios to F4, which is the latest. I guess I'll try upping the vcore to 1.45.

Was able to unlock my Phenom II x2 550 BE to X4 B50 and overclocked to 3.4ghz with stock vcore.

Motherboard: GA-MA770T-UD3P

Ran Prime 95 for 8 hours stable.

Unlocked amd x2 5000 to triple core RANA. It unlocked to quad but would not boot to windows. So i tried "force triple core" and it worked. Going to overclock and run prime

anybody running biostar TA785GE board? I can not change the multiplier above 11x(2200Mhz) on my triple core.
going to see if i can do it with new bios(I'm using modded right now)
