ASUS R9 280X DirectCU II TOP

I got one when they first came out and they were less expensive than their nVidia counterparts by about $100. That changed quickly! Initially, the card worked flawlessly, and I was astounded at just how good Guild Wars 2 could look. Then I started to experience artifacting--after the newegg...

HAF 922 and H100i Airflow question

Cool! I'll give this a go to see how the temperatures work out. :)

    Replacing a Corsair H50

My temps with the H50 were not great. I have the H100i now and love it. If you want to try something in the same line, I'd recommend the H100i. It's also easier to install. :)

HAF 922 and H100i Airflow question

My recent rig is now made better by a Corsair H100i. As per instructions, I installed it at the top of the case, with the fans as intake fans. Since there was a 200mm fan on the top, I repositioned it on the side of the case as an exhaust fan. Outside of the 200mm fan on the front, I have no...

    Gigabyte Z87 Discussion Thread

The H50 was working, but I found that gaming drove cpu temperatures up to around 70C. I identified the culprit: a pin that I could not tighten, no matter what. I have since ordered the 100i, which is much easier to install and the temperatures are awesome. An hour of OCCT can't get them above...

    Gigabyte Z87 Discussion Thread

I'd wait on that. Today, I installed CoreTemp and discovered that all 4 cores were around 23c at idle. I don't have all the updated everything yet, so I'm not testing any kind of overclock at this point. I will do the basic test to see if I have a good oc or a poor oc candidate. At any rate...

    Gigabyte Z87 Discussion Thread

So I completely reinstalled the water block. It turns out that the newer instructions fail to mention that only certain holes on the back bracket correspond to the holes in the motherboard. Hint: it's not the same hole in the same position, so you really do need to have the pins in the right...

    Gigabyte Z87 Discussion Thread

I just built this using the Corsair H50 as the cpu cooler. The good news is that the computer boots! Yay! I installed Windows, no problem. The bad news is that I looked at my cpu temps in the BIOS and Yikes! The BIOS says my cpu is operating at 99C. I have a hard time believing that. The...

Gigabyte P965-P35 X38 overclocking and BIOS tweaking Guide

Agreed. :) I'm hoping that the Sandy Bridge architecture leads to a good overclock so that Bill can write us another awesome guide. :) Anyway, here's the deal. I have pretty much the same rig as my sig states, with the exception of a 4850 for the vid card. My oc has been stable, and in...

Gigabyte P965-P35 X38 overclocking and BIOS tweaking Guide

I've had a lot of fun with my P965 board and my C2D 6420, but I'm going to be doing New Build 2010 this summer. What to do with my current box? Well, I have in mind upgrading the bios so that it'll use one of the Q9400, replace my RAM and harddrive, and do a bit of mild overclocking. Then...

    Thermaltake's new Level 10 case: only $849.99!

From newegg's Facebook Fan page: It's good to see that newegg's Facebook team has a sense of humor. :) Now, the real issue is whether it's worth the price. I mean, for over $800, I could have a really nifty case, buy all the modding tools, and have some budget left over for a couple of...

Need new GPU, question re: PCIE 1 and bios

My EVGA 8800GTS has gone to computer video card heaven. Every once in a while, and especially during gaming though it also happened when web-surfing, the video would freeze, fade out, and I'd have the "No video input" message on the monitor. Clearly this is a video card problem, and so I...

    Upgrading From 8800GTX

Thanks for this thread. My videocard, an 8800 GTX, is heading off to card heaven with symptoms of a bad memory chip. I'm not upgrading my machine (see specs in sig) until 2010, but want something that I can game with. I'd looked at the 260s, but the 275 seems to have the nicer price point...

    U-Verse from Comcast--anyone have experience?

Thanks to folks so far. Yes, the hardwood floors are a bit of a concern, but right now, we've holes drilled through closets. It's a very weird wiring! Another issue is that of the TiVo. My husband loves our TiVo, and wouldn't be parted from it no matter if there's a DVR included. I haven't...

    U-Verse from Comcast--anyone have experience?

I finally got an AT&T representative who understood that I was looking for a competitive offer to make it worth my while to move to U-Verse from Comcast cable. I was quoted a phone/ 10 mbs Internet/television package that's $20 less than I'm currently paying for the combination of 10 mbs...
