It's always easier mounting the Heasink/Fan on the motherboard before it's installed in the PC Case.

I have approx. 40 new in the box Socket A Motherboards by various manufacturers & new Socket A Processors, Heatsinks & DDR1 Memory. With a decent AGP Video Card ...he could still play alot of older games, surf the internet, etc.
Using a good Sound Card ...I currently have a Socket A system...
You're over looking one variable ...not all Motherboards will set the CPU/Memory & other voltages properly in auto-set mode. You should set them manually & check with an application like AIDA64.

Windows 8 will be a massive failure on Desktop PC's ! Maybe M.S. will get their heads out of their asses when they finally release Windows 9 !
I installed/used Windows 8 for approx. 3 days & absolutely hated the Metro & other ! I've also seen numerous threads in other forums & the vast majority will not purchase Windows 8 ...it will be a failure like Vista !
