Pic's wouldn't do it justice. It may not look at "bling" as the 3008, but the matted black platic bezel and base don't distract from the screen at all. Anyhow I ended up paying $1614 Australian for it and it arrived 2 days after ordering (Sydney to Adelaide).
P.S. I really enjoy playing with...
Having been using my U3011 for a day now (and having upgraded from a 3008), I can definatley say that it IS the better monitor. It's cooler, lighter, quicker and seems to be completely bug free. AG coating has less sparkle and input switching is much easier and quicker. A really good monitor.
I've had my 3008 since Dec 22nd (Australia), it has bleed like the rest. However I just keep pestering my Dell Services Technical Support Rep and she assures me that when an improved revision arrives I will be the 1st to know.
It appears the latest build of these monitors is A02. Don't ask me what happened to A01; Anyhow, hopefully the backlight bleed on this new build is non-existent!
My replacement showed up today, and unfortunatly has the exact same bleed problems (and a stuck pixel). It is a week 51 build, and has better front buttons and 1680x1050 scaled properly compared to my week 44 build. It's going back...
I'm receiving a replacement for mine today. My current 3008 is a Week 44 build (Delivered on Dec 21st, AUS) So I will report what I find. I'm sure Chinese new year isn't helping production of these monitors either...
Not too long ago AMD had the best CPU's. IBM made the best Hard Drives. 3Dfx had the best video cards. Nobody cared what Power Supply or Case or Heat Sink/Cooling system they had... Times change...
