It's pretty much brand new. Seems to be the fan at the rear of the unit, if I cover it with my hand the sound goes away. Unfortunately it sits in my home theater closet which is open to the room, and is really annoying. I'll crack it open today and look at the insides.
My Dell 2824 is incredibly loud... louder than any other component in my room by far :) Anyone ever modified the fans or even better just killed them entirely? I searched but couldn't find confirmation that anyone had tried.
FYI, my local store had the base model Owlink FO2800 for $116. That's a SERIOUS discount from the best prices online. Even on Ebay they go for well over $200. That and some outdoor speakers were about all I could find of interest ;)
I don't know, my new 9300 build in a mATX case seems like a real winner. I guess ITX is cool, but you can get really small with mATX and still retain good functionality.
So I've got mine and am trying to set it up with 4 1.5TB Seagates. I'm a little concerned that I should be upgrading the firmware on these puppies, but I guess I need to do that BEFORE I stick them in? Getting really lousy transfer rates as well, not sure where I am going wrong.
