So I sold my 2nd 5870, running just 1 @ about half the frame as crossfire but plays 2x smoother.

BC2 crossfire eyefinity is broken. You get great fps but it feels laggy unless you go back to 1 card or just 1 monitor. There are a few threads here and more on widescreengamingforum with this same problem. Dont make the same mistake I did and blow 400$ on a second card, 150$ on a bigger power...

@ stock voltage around 940-960 on both my XFX 5870's, I cant touch the memory, even 1210 causes problems. If I max out @ 1.350 then I can get around 1070mhz but the fan needs to be around 80-90% to keep it below 85c

^ nice! Its good to finally see someone else having the same problem with crossfire eyefinity and bc2 feeling crappy unless you have 120+ fps. I almost made the trip to frys to pick up a x58 board and i9 for the two x16 lanes, lot of money to throw around on a possible fix tho :(

^ p55 both slots running at x8 2.0 according to gpuz. I have 1 5870 pushing my 3x1080 and I have to have everything on low to get the 90-120 fps I like out of a single card, and thats OC'd to 1050mhz. With 2 cards I can get double the fps almost exactly, just feels slower and more "stutter"

I picked up a second 5870 for crossfire only to be bummed by micro stutter. XFX double lifetime warranty along with box and everything included. Card is perfect and looks brand new.

^ dang it I was almost about to go find my second bridge. Makes me feel better I'm not the only one turning off crossfire because of this. Some games don't seem bad, dirt2 seems fine and smooth.

^ only needs to be active if you want eyefinity. The 30$ one on newegg is active and I use it for gaming in eyefinity at 1080p x3

I'm very aware there are MANY differences one of many being fermi is actually faster that the competition, another being its Red and has flames....calm down boys was just havin a laugh.

If your on the side of the fence that doesn't think you can "feel" a difference between 40 fps and 60fps then sli/crossfire will be fine for you. If you can feel the difference between 60-80 or even 80-100 then stick with a single gpu setup.

can you still use the plate that comes stock on the back of the card?

3x1080p here and at first I was kinda bummed with BC2 running on my system, changed to dx9 and everything on high including HBAO or whatever and get 70-100fps constant online. Even turned up the AA in ati CC, I have some screenshots of dx10vs9 i made to compare and there really isnt much if any...

microstuttering isnt something you see as much as perceive it. defaultluser is right as long as you keep your fps above your monitor refresh rate it wont be perceived, this is why there is so much miss information and people saying " i have 2 gpu's and zero microstutter". I spend a couple weeks...

lol @ gimmick comment. 3x1080p' here, shift plays great. Because of both the POV making things "skewed" or fish eyed a little on the side monitor and because there generally inst nearly as much action on the side screens, the framerate drop isn't linear. You generally dont see 3x less...

I'm running a 5760x1080 with a 5870, crysis @ 5760x1080 with mixed quality settings 2xAA will be fine at like 50fps but as soon as i would hit 4x it would become a unplayable 5-10fps, is this the card running out of vmem? I can duplicate the same results between no AA and 2xAA if i have quality...

^ I have noticed that about my h50, lots of dust collects fast. My 5780 sits upside down so mounting it wouldn't be super hard alto crossfire would never fit, hrm... maybe a domino it is!

I dont know of any but share your concern that most aftermarket coolers dont push air out the back. I dont like having 20 fans and holes all over my case tp vent air, I like a clean tower, air in the front out the back.
