You have a point to a point, but to counterpoint:
First you can get the 120 GB for about $135 most places I look such as Amazon.
Second there is also the 60GB Live starter kit available for ~$89 as another option, which also comes with a headset, ethernet cable, and 3 months Live Gold...
Pretty disappointing that people are still getting excited for 32" no-name set for $400...I'm looking to upgrade from a old 27" soon and I was expecting to be able to at least pick up a 37" for that price, if not more or cheaper.
Another thing people dont talk about much in the 720P/1080P...
The newest reviews seem to show the 4890 often beating the 285 even, especially in the most demanding games like Crysis. This is of the OC version, but note the good results even of the bone stock card: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/sapphire_toxic_hd_4890_review/page4.asp
Also the fact...
Damn, they had it at my Best buy for 209, but gone :(
You should have got it. You can sell it on ebay for 320 all day long if you change your mind. $100 profit. Free money basically.
Anybody have exact clocks on this? Core appears to be 590 but I'd like shader too.
I have a 9800 GTX, my principle problem with it is the 512MB RAM is a bit dated. So even though this 192 core 260 wont be much faster, it might be worth it for the increased RAM. Considering I could probably ebay...
1, I downloaded and installed the 64-bit patch, right clicked warhead and play 64 bit DX10 per the instructions. I forgot all about 32-bit saves supposedly not working (as claimed in the release notes) and just started playing my old save. It worked fine, well I say that but the first time I...
Pretty funny since Carmack has said in the very recent past that the PS3 is the limiting factor in "every case" regarding Rage (meaning, graphically). And yeah, I can link that if you need a source.
So I guess, the game was dumbed down for the PS3 in every area not related to storage already.
Hnmm well I overclocked my 9600GT last night. It hit 750 mhz without any problems that I know of (this was as far as I tried to OC, so it might go higher).
I ran a little "real world gameplay" bench with Fraps, just running along that first beach at night twirling and shooting. Un oced I got...
What would be expected? I have 4GB RAM and Q6600 so that's not a problem..
Would a 8800GT be much better?
So far the demo doesn't seem to quite run at high. I think it runs about 18-20 FPS, which surprisingly is just almost playable in this game. This kicked up to maybe 20-23 when I switched...
True but, on a game like Crysis that often hovers RIGHT at playable, say 26 or 28 or 30 FPS, it could make a difference. I just hate having to guesstimate.
Didn't know that about 20" LCD's, But 22" is surely a lot more common though. When I was LCD shopping 1680X1050 seemed to be one of the...
They are not showing "similar results" they often show the 3870X2 in a better light, and they are not using "static" tests either but gameplay and fraps.
And I'm not here to crap on this site, but Tom's shows me an actual useful thing in that review, they are benching at two common LCD sizes...
Tom's review certainly shows the 3870X2 in a much better light, often outrunning the Nvidia cards at the same settings. Sometimes not, but certainly overall it looks a hell of a lot better. As well, as you noted in your own review few games challenge these cards, so it seems often when 3870X2...
You guys have got the stupidest review system known to man, and it's getting worse.
Who even decides which settings you turn off and why is the allowable framerate different from card to card? I honestly think knowing your previous Nvidia fanboy status, that you cant be trusted to not be really...
Just wanted to bump this thread to say I was all wrong about this case. :D
Besides having some poor fitting issues (nothing much), this case also suffered from terrible vibration. You could put your hand on it and feel a strong buzz constantly. I figured this couldn't be good for my...
I'm hearing that ATI is about to launch their RV770 pretty soon that G92 cant compete with. For this reason Nvidia is supposedly trying to push up GT200 launch but in the meanwhile, the plan is to compete by lowering price with 55nm G92 variants.
So yeah, it does seem like uber low prices on...
Suit yourself :)
Please do spend $650 on that awesome Nvidia exclusive 9800GX2. Buy two! You'll be thrilled for weeks! I recommend you buy 4 actually.
That would be stupid because new cards are coming in June. Maybe even one from your precious Nvidia (though I doubt it).
Wait until May when the much faster next ATI/AMD card is out. The first real next gen card, said to be clocked at 1050 mhz+ and so forth.

If you buy a 9800GX2, you'll be nothing but sorry in a few weeks as you see your $650 card...
I dont know how hot of a deal this is or anything, or if it's been posted, and it's YMMV, but a my Best Buy they had BFGTech 800 watt power supply for $128, marked down from $250.
Reviews show this is a real nice, in fact exceptional, PSU. It has sleeved cables an 6 SATA power connecters. I...
Quad core Q6600, 8800GT,
4X1GB RAM, 1X500GB HDD, 1XDVD drive. Probably a nic card and small sound card as well.
Specifically what I'm looking at is the Antec Basiq 500 watter. The overall seems to be enough, how about all the rails and whatnot?
Thanks for the help. What frustrated me was that my 2nd PC simply didn't exist to my first. No amount of enabling file sharing is going to help in that case.
But I think I figured out the problem, I was running zonealarm on one box, I think that pretty much made it invisible to the other...
Also I was wondering, maybe a bit OT but, I have a little belkin thumb USB wireless 54G adapter. But on my new build with Vista 64-bit..no drivers. Went to website, my particular revision, 3.xxx, they only list a 32 bit Vista driver. Now a newer version of the exact same adapter, 5.xxx, they do...
I built a new PC with Vista the other day, and I was planning to have both it and my old box on the same network and hoping to easily tranfer files between them, mainly to get all my old setting and stuff like MP3's off my old computer easily.
The setup I currently have is, Linkys wireless...
Anyways, I dunno. I'm concerned about the PSU now. I'm gonna pull it out just to feel how heavy it is for one. I wish somebody could tell me it was a rebadged sparkle or something to ease my mind, but given the dearth of info online about it I doubt that'll happen.
Also the case is solid...
People who need one right now?
And actually, they have that Antec 900 which by all accounts is a good popular case, for 150. Since it's a minimum of $26 to ship a case from newegg, that's not bad. Of course the shipping probably roughly correlates to taxes at BB.
Newegg currently has the 900...
If you actually have to buy something at a store, that isn't Fry's, this is the best you'll do.
Best Buy carries the Antec 900 for $154. You could get that, then spend another 100 for a PSU at BB also. It would be much better but also $250.
The PSU says Dynex. Like I said I'm sure it's not the best, but it'll work for me.
I'm sure there are much better cases to be had even for the price, but if you ever just need to get something at brick and mortar for cheap this case is out there.
Here's a couple pics.
Doesn't...
So long story short I had ordered a lot of parts for a new quad core rig from newegg, they are due tomorrow.
However initially I had planned to perhaps reuse my old case/PSU that my current aging rig sits in, which I'm not particularly happy with anyway, as I'd much rather leave my old build...
