Ah yes iBuyPower.... Yup I know the rep but I simply could not resist. Honestly, I think they can do it, I'm optimistic! Recent reseller ratings are fairly positive and they seem to be engaging folks. Frankly, I really could not find another vendor besides AVADirect that had a better...
I tried to search but couldnt find a reference. How much longer for the 775? I got burned pretty badly by the AGP conversion to PCIe on my last build and don't want to end up in that boat again.
Thoughts? Thanks.
Just curious what people think on this one.
Its about $3200 for:
AMD Turion 2.0Ghz
20.1" 1680x1050 LCD
2 Gig DDR2667
7950 GTX 512
I'm looking for a 19" - 20.1" screen since I do alot of 3DMax work. I'm using a IBM T60 now but the small screen is driving me nuts.
Price seems far...
I like to read MB manuals before I buy the board - but Intel hasnt posted their manual like every other manufacturer? That's pretty annoying. Anyone have a link?
Why is everyone buying 32 bit Vista? Isnt the writing on the wall for 2 Gigs of RAM? Isnt this the same trap as XP? Considering Gothic 3 streams the entire
gameworld into memory - Isnt this really short sighted?
I'm about to rebuild and I want 4 gigs. Or am I missing something???
I've been pondering which chip to get. Thing is I got *screwed* buying a 2.8 P4 on the 478 and of course AGP phasing out didnt help any.
So I'm tempted to pay top dollar for a 6800 or even a quad core - but it seems wasteful and I can always upgrade the CPU later right? Of...
I was reading on about the Bad Axe 2 on extremesystems.org. People were complaining about the recent bios release how they couldnt get over 400FSB on the 1066 strap like they could on a previous version.
The consensus there from folks smarter than me was to use the 1333 strap for FSB...
I'm a bit short on cash but I could afford an AGP ATI x1950 Pro 512MB (~$300).
Should I bother though? Here are my current specs:
2.8 Northwood socket 478 @ 3.3 GHz (960 FSB)
1 Gig DDR533.
x850XT PE 256MB
Gateway 22" widescreen 1680x1050
I'd love to add another gig of RAM but I'll...
I've tried looking though the threads on the various models but they are just loaded with xBox360 issues. I'm not a console gamer - and I'm looking for a 24" with 1:1 so an ATi card will have lower resolutions to fall back on without stretching!
I hear there is a performance hit of up to 20% to use Nvidia 1:1 scaling. For me the whole point of 1:1 scaling is as an insurance policy against games taxing the system and forcing me back to 1280x1024.
Is the penalty true? If so what if the panel implements the 1:1?
Any thoughts...
Why do they keep posting such hopelessly useless reviews? I love the eVGA review when it came overclocking - this takes the cake:
"We will have more on this later but time restraints kept us from more extensive testing at this point."
And god forbid they use a CPU people are actually...
Just a few notes if anyone cares ;)
I visited Circuit City today and spent a bunch of time looking at:
LG L204WT
Acer AL2216WBD
ViewSonic VX2035WM
ViewSonic VX2235WM
First off, they were all on VGA so that handicaps things a bit. I thought the VX2235WM was unnacceptably washed out...
I just had the strangest experience.
1. I go to boot XP and right after POST I get a message saying my video card is not getting power (x850 XT PE). My molex is perfectly seated!
2. I reboot and everything is normal. Not trusting that I reboot again. Right after POST I get a blue...
I currently have a modded TruePower 550 (2004 vintage, probably 1st Gen not 2.0?)
I was considering keeping it for a Conroe build and adding a Fortron X3 Booster in a vacant 5" slot to power a G80. They only cost ~$80
Any reason to hate the 550? It has served well for a few years, but...
