I know for a fact that the 1.4v limit is not a myth from my personal experiences. I used to run my e3110 at 1.45v at 4.4ghz, but I am no longer able to maintain that overclock. I was forced to back it down to 1.4v at 4.2 So no, Degradation is not a myth.

Hi, im running the latest cat 8.7 drivers on an unoverclocked 4850 with the fan at 100% and I am getting crash in world in conflict. The screen turns black and the pc doesnt reboot. Is this a known driver problem or is the card dead?

IMO the pcp&c psu is the best, but the corsair is so good that you wont ever notice the difference under pretty much any circumstance.

Nvidia die shrink could be a while, and the prices are already very competitive. If you want a new video card, get one now.

The 4850 is plenty for that resolution and those games and will work fine with that psu. A 4870 would be overkill imo.

The 3870 is the slowest, a very bad option, it gets its ass kicked by the competing nvidia cards. The 4850 is much faster and is pretty much the bang for the buck deal right now, and the 4870 even faster for $100 bucks more and is in between the nvidia gtx 260 and gtx280, but closer to the 260.

You dont get it. The 256 bit bus with ddr3 memeory is bottlenecked to the point that adding any more ram over 512mb is useless.

Thats pretty damn stupid. 512mb of DDR3 is all that is useful with a 256 bit bus.

FS does not take advantage of four cores all the time, none of the physics calculations or object drawing calculations take advantage of quad cores. The only thing that will use four cores with the new service pack 2 is texture loading.

Nvidia doesnt play well, if the pc is going to be flight sim only go with a 3870, for fs only there is no reason to go with anything else.

A quad will only help fsx with faster texture loading, it will give a few extra fps, but fsx is in no way a quad core optomized app. FSX would be alot better if the developers would take advantage of modern technology.

Dont believe those benches on toms hardware, fsx can display such a variety of frame rates depending on the situation, but it is always cpu limited. Dont expect to get frames like you would in any other game, even crysis, in fsx. I get fps in the 40's at high altitude, but in the most...

if it was 1.4 vs 1.45 I would say keep 1.4 and go with a lower core speed, but since 1.38 is still a very safe voltage I would say keep the higher speed, either way though longevity or performance arent going to change, but we are overclockers here so go with the best you can get. :cool:
