Xbox 360 as a Windows Media Extender

I have a few questions about using an Xbox 360 as a Windows Media Extender. 1: Can it stream 1080p content? 2: Can it stream a Blu-Ray disc that is playing on the Windows PC? 3: Can it stream all video streaming services off the PC if there is no native support on the 360? 4: Also...

Hauppauge TV Tuner Cards: Which one allows you to receive QAM and ATSC simultaneously

I am looking for one of these cards that will allow me to run my coaxial cable to receive QAM channels as well as connect my ATSC antenna simultaneously so that I don't need to switch them back and forth. Or is there some kind of adapter I can use? Thanks!

Recommendations for home viewing of medical imaging

Great! I'll look into the Eizo PVAs. Haha, I'm not planning to use it for actual patient care, so no worries there, just for my own personal training. We use Barco's at the hospital, so I don't need to shell out that kind of money. Just looking for a step up over my TN gaming panel. The only...

Recommendations for home viewing of medical imaging

Hello, I am looking for a 21.5-24" LED backlit monitor that would be good for viewing X-rays/CTs/MRIs. The monitor would be for home use. Would an IPS panel provide the best image quality considering black/white/grey color variations will be pretty important? Any recommendations for particular...

Computer won't start when graphics card inserted into PCI-E slot

I bought a new PSU (OSZ 700w) and it still wouldn't power on. I've now tried a brand new PSU & graphics card, so I'm assuming it's the board. Btw, PNY (the brand of my nvidia 8800gt) replaced my card even though I'm pretty sure it wasn't broken. Good company. I've gone ahead and started the...

Comcast DTA & Windows 7 Media Center

Yeah, you are right. My understanding is that I need to purchase a certified MCE IR blaster (I purchased the non-MCE Hauppauge card), so that's why I can't get the digital adapter to set up in MC. And even if I do purchase a MCE-certified IR blaster & remote and get the DTA set up, it would just...

Comcast DTA & Windows 7 Media Center

Okay, so Comcast made the digital switch and I'm using the digital adapter. Now I have to leave my hauppauge wintv-1600 analog tuner set to channel 3 & must change channels using the Comcast remote. My IR receiver (that came w/ the tuner card) is plugged into the card, and I have run the IR...

Computer won't start when graphics card inserted into PCI-E slot

Hi, thanks for the reply. The PSU is also 2 years old. Is it possible for only the PCI-E slot to fail on a motherboard or only the graphics card connector to fail on the PSU? I don't have any other problems on the computer.

Computer won't start when graphics card inserted into PCI-E slot

I had been using an Nvidia 8800GT 512 mb card for about 2 years until the other day. The computer did not recover from Sleep mode. Whenever I unplugged the graphics card and used the onboard video, I was able to boot the computer. However, when I reinserted the card, the computer would no longer...

Hit and miss with DD5.1 with AC97

I really don't know much more than the control panel options for configuring audio on my PC, so forgive me. I am using Vista Ultimate x64, and my motherboard is using AC97. The only time I can get Dolby Digital 5.1 output is when I'm using Media Center and watching HDTV. However, whenever I play...

Itching to purchase an eee PC, need some general advice

It's my understanding that the $400 4G (with Linux) has a better battery and expandable RAM, while the 4GX has the same battery as the Surfs. Are all the 4G Linux versions guaranteed to have expandable RAM?

Itching to purchase an eee PC, need some general advice

I want to preface this by saying that I intend to use the eee PC solely for light internet browsing and MS Office 2007. That being said, I am planning on purchasing the $350 4G Surf and installing Windows XP Professional on it. What I am debating on is whether I should buy the $400 eee PC 4GX...

    Gateway FHD2400

I don't think you understand what I am saying. While sitting directly in front of the FHD2400 while playing games, I could not pick out dark areas that I can now see using my new monitor. With the FHD2400, if I offset my eyes away from the center of the screen horizontally, the details dark...

    Gateway FHD2400

If you're desperate to connect a PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii all at the same time, get either the FHD2400 or the BenQ FP241W. However, if you think this monitor is good enough for watching movies, you'll be disappointed when the bleeding kicks in. I personally could not stand having the brightness...

Looking to buy display for competitive gaming on Xbox 360

The HP w2408h has no input lag. There are review to prove it. I can't notice any ghosting. It has an HDMI and VGA input and 1:1 scaling as well as built in speakers (but you are using surround sound, right?). Prad Review

    Trouble multi-tasking with 8600GT

    Trouble multi-tasking with 8600GT

I've completely uninstalled both my previous card and I uninstalled and reinstalled the 8600GT. I am using the EVGA drivers (my card is made by them) because they were more recent. I've noticed recently that I can't get any scaling settings to fix in the Control Panel. Maybe I'll try the Nvidia...

    Gateway FHD2400 or Samsung 2253BW?

The FHD2400 is a good gaming PC. The glossy screen is why the colors look better, but it has reflective properties that may dissaude you. I've never noticed any ghosting on the FHD2400. It's overdrive function seemed to make little difference. Considering your PC's hardware, though, I don't see...

    Trouble multi-tasking with 8600GT

I recently acquired an 8600GT, replacing my X800GTO. I normally like to play my MMO in one window and watch TV in another. With the x800GTO, this was no problem. With the 8600GT, though, whenever the game window is active, the TV becomes very choppy (although sound is fine). Is this a property...

X800GTO DVI-HDMI Cable, Signal Shutting Off soon after booting any game in Vista

My graphics card is an X800GTO from PowerColor (256 MB GDDR3), and I am using Vista Ultimate x64 with the new drivers and CCC from ATI. I have also installed drivers for my monitor. My current monitor only has HDMI and VGA inputs. My previous monitor had a DVI input and using DVI resulted in...

Problems using DVI/HDMI cable. Help me diagnose

    A really puzzling problem?!?

I think it has something to do with the monitor not accepting the output resolution of your BIOS, which is likely very low. It depends on the monitor and I don't know what you can do about it.

Problems using DVI/HDMI cable. Help me diagnose

Well, I do have a PS3 and connecting it using an HDMI cable does not result in any problem. That's why I don't think the problem is the monitor. I am using Windows Vista x64, and when I connected the monitor, a driver was automatically downloaded from HP. Catalyst Center detects an HP w2408...

Problems using DVI/HDMI cable. Help me diagnose

Hi, I'm using an HP w2408h LCD monitor that has VGA and HDMI inputs only. My graphics card is an ATI X800, and I have installed the most recent drivers. When using VGA, everything is fine. When using a DVI-HDMI cable, the signal eventually cuts off after a few minutes. I cannot get the...

About to pull the trigger on a FHD2400...

I prefer this LG panel over the Samsung one used in the Gateway (assuming that's what I had). I feel a lot of people here laud Samsung unecessarily. The majority of their LCD products are not that great.

About to pull the trigger on a FHD2400...

I don't want to get into a whole argument here because I know what I'm talking about. I purchased the FHD2400 the week it came out so it is very likely I had a Samsung panel. Here's what my FHD2400 looked like about a month after getting it. Believe it or not, the bleeding got even worse...

I purchased the FHD2400 the week it came out so it is very likely I had a Samsung panel. Here's what my FHD2400 looked like about a month after getting it. Believe it or not, the bleeding got even worse than that. Here's my HP w2408h with an LG panel. And about the comparison of...

About to pull the trigger on a FHD2400...

Yeah, you can buy an external tuner with composite or component inputs. I used one of those at one time. I used one made by Viewsonic that outputted via VGA and it seemed okay, picture-quality wise. I never measured lag, though.

I've owned both and I prefer the HP w2408h over the FHD2400. Viewing angles, backlight consistency, contrast ratio (especially in dark areas), and colors are better on the w2408h than on the FHD2400. You should probably switch the w2408h to sRGB color mode in BestBuy. The default color mode is...

    Gateway FHD2400

One other flaw I noticed in the FHD2400 was the horizontal viewing angle on dark scenes. I noyiced when playing a game (LOTRO) during in-game night-time, that if I shifted my head off-center left or right many more deails would become apparent. On my new screen, I can see all the details head-on...

    Gateway FHD2400

Scaling options are Fill to Screen, Fill to Aspect Ratio, and One to One. Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 displayed scaled properly with no tearing on HDMI and VGA, respectively. The default Color scheme is not so great. Switching it to sRGB mode though makes it look really nice.

    HP W2408H or Gateway FHD2400

I have been using the FHD2400 since October. I just got a w2408h and my first impression is that the w2408h is far superior. Colors are better and the contrast seems far better. And best of all, no discernible backlight bleeding! Having no dead or stuck pixels is also a sweet plus.

Hey, everyone, I haven't posted here in a while. I grew quite tired of the backlight bleed. It's just too much to forgive any longer. I took the monitor to Best Buy today and exchanged it for the HP w2408h. Certainly the w2408h is lacking the connectivity of the Gateway but then again, I've...
