Hi all,
Moving soon and would like to clear out the closet...
EVGA X58 Classified 3x SLI Motherboard (E761 Model)
This is an RMA replacement that was installed and thoroughly tested, but otherwise never used. The board is in excellent, like-new condition. All materials (cables, manuals, CD's)...
I got this board a few months ago to pair with my 990X and 24GB of RAM. Very pleased to see HardOCP reviewed it. Given the age of the platform, the board hasn't really had much coverage around the web.
There really is only one way to sum this board up: :D It's built on the pinnacle of platform...
Dan's list has it right, at least in my opinion -- I've owned many of the chips on that list, and they've all been fantastic performers (and values, save for my current chip.) I remember overclocking my 486DX2 and Pentium 133mhz by playing with jumpers. I remember the first computer I spec'd out...
The hardware hobby marches on and new equipment has arrived at my door. In order to keep costs of this hobby in check, it's time for a sale!
Please, no trade offers. All prices include shipping unless otherwise noted, and all items are boxed in original packaging with all included accessories...
Mainly Koolance quick-disconnects so that the next time I dissemble my computer, it won't take 2 hours. The Extreme Flow versions have G3/8 threads so I'm also getting adapters. I'm also upgrading the tubing itself from 7/16 to 1/2 ID. Still haven't decided if I want to cool the motherboard...
Have a bare-bones system running with the new processor and 24GB of RAM. All is running very well. It's incredible how cool this chip runs!
Eventually I'm going to run the chip under water, but right now I have it with the stock cooler as I'm waiting for some WC parts to come in. Running at...
Ok, so if I get this straight -- you're building a research computer, but I'm assuming it's not mission critical based on your comments and your desire to overclock. In other words, it's not for work or at least not just for work. If it is, you may want to rethink overclocking a rig like that...
Others are better at listing parts than I am -- I much more like to distill advice in paragraph form. Here, advice is to jump on the Sandy Bridge bandwagon. i7 2500 or 2600 and a nice motherboard. Boards are just about getting back in stock after the SATA hick-up, so you can take your pick...
Alright so the RAM, CPU, and case are ordered. Got the 800D. Got 3 sets of the G.Skill Danny recommended (thank you there,) and I got the Gulftown i7 990x. Hey, why not? :) It'll be fun to tinker with for a year or two, and there really isn't anything else worth doing with my rig at the moment...
Outstanding... cheapest way I've seen to 24GB, and I've only had great experiences with G.Skill. Verdict is still out on the Processor... I'll decide in the next 24 hours.
