    Bottleneck possibility?

Will a 2.5GHz Core 2 processor see bottlenecking using either a HD4850 or a GTX260/216? General build question: What do I need to look out for in Vista Home Prem 64-bit? I'm doing a build for somebody, but I've yet to work with Vista or a 64-bit operating system, so I'm not sure if there's...

Ballistix 16FD3s just died, what kind of funeral should I hold?

Crucial Ballistix, 1GB, DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12, 2.0V, D9GMH, 16FD3 series. 2 sticks, $70, summer 2007. A good workhorse, and a throwback to the days when DDR2 was more expensive, and cheap D9GMHs could be had. Running up to 1000MHz DDR was easy, but hitting 1200 was a goal that not many could...

    A cheap portable setup

Having stumbled upon some money, I was thinking of upgrading my current portable setup (Old Sony Bean, Senn CX300s) to something closer in quality to my A700s. I was thinking: Sansa Clip Super.fi 3 (found a pair used, good condition, cheap) Fiio E5 Except I'm not sure I need the E5 at all...

    Thermalright AXP-140 - The new XP-120

http://vr-zone.com/articles/thermalright-axp-140-heatsink-unveiled-and-unboxed-/6358.html?doc=6358 And for comparison: I'm counting 6 heatpipes, wrapping around in a G shape, giving you heat pipe coverage all around. Takes 120 or 140mm fans. Doesn't look like it'll have height clearance...

    Sysprep Procedure

Tried this in a couple other places... haven't gotten any (useful) responses yet. I'm switching from my G33M-DS2R (G33/ICH9R) to a P5E-VM HDMI (G35/ICH9R), and I thought I'd use sysprep so I wouldn't have to redo everything. However, I have some misgivings with this, and I thought I'd run it...

    XonarDX/CMI8788, ATH-A700/K240S: Please advise.

Dilemma 1: PCI sound card or PCIe sound card. I have a mATX board, meaning I only have 4 expansion slots. From top to bottom: If I get a XonarDX, I can use the PCIe4x slot at the bottom of my board, which won't interfere with air flow for my X1950Pro (single-slot, connector side blower fan). I...

    Murderbox? In my Greater Vancouver?

Its more likely than you think. Article: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a215/DeathseekerWR/Murderbox.jpg If you've never seen them before...: http://www.murderbox.com/ Who would have thought that the guy who made the Murderbox is no farther than 20 minutes away? I'd kill for those braided...

    The next DS2R?

All we got is a picture; http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=3250&p=2 http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/tradeshows/2008/cebit/day1/gigabyte-g45.jpg By looking at the board, its quite clearly a G45M-DS2H. Over the DS2R: -1 less SATA port. -Closed end PCIE-1x -3 USB headers. 6...

    Cyro-Z - Available Next Week?

http://www.techpowerup.com/?51442 http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7292.html Figured I bring this up, considering everybody and their mothers has been waiting for this for quite some time. Could it be possible? OCZ finally brings out an affordable(er) phase change solution?

    AMD - SLI once again?

*I'm such an idiot. I thought that was a mATX board. Didn't occur to me at first. Delete/close please.* A wild MCP78 motherboard has appeared! http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=208907 http://infomars.fr/forum/index.php?showtopic=1116 For sure, there's: -Dual BIOS -Mostly solid caps...

    XP120 + Yate Loons

I got myself a XP120 to stuff into my Lanbox, for lack of any better coolers out there. However, initial performance is abysmal. I'm idling as low as 35 and as high as 40. Forget load temperatures entirely. But even a Yate Loon D12SL can't do that bad. Sure, the XP120 is several years old, but I...

    FSB800 CPU + P35 Gigabyte board = 3:5 ratio?

Having a G33 based board, I know that FSB800 processors are only allowed a maximum of a 3:5 (3.33x) divider on the memory. Sucks, eh? What I want to know is if the P35 boards also have the same problem. I do believe that they do... but I can't be sure. Not many people buy E2*/E4* to play around...
