ok i think my ballistix may be dying... im getting random lockups... the majority of them result in a mangled looking display do i assumed it had something to do with crossfire acting up so i took out the second radeon... but now im getting things like superfetch crashing and the catalyst...

im more thinking for web surfing and stuff like that... nothing major, but it seems like a waste to have to spend money on things that a system would never need...
i think they would need to be running windows xp... or even vista if thats possible... i think xp would be preferable but a vista upgrade would need to be an option...
what i would like would be for the terminals to be running everything off the server(ie any applications would be loaded from the server, OS would boot off the server, etc.) but the terminals would do their own processing and not just display whats on the server...
ok so ive read the wikipedia stuff... someone lay down exactly what needs to be done... if i were gonna do this... what would i need for hardware and software to get it running?
thats kinda dumb... but no i dont think it would hurt the motherboard... as for the fans, id assume it would eventually have an adverse effect... but there was a build somewhere where the fans were submerged in oil and they still spun and never died...
is it possible?
i would assume u would need to be running it in a network...
but im talking if i wanted to run a few terminals networked, is there a way to do it so that not all the computers need a hard drive?
look around the forums... its been done... keep in mind its the same as the p180/p182... but its been done so u shouldnt have a hard time finding someone with some pictures or something...
not in 32bit... 32bit can only address 3gigs total (video + system memory) or something like that... im not sure of the exact number... but even now with vista sp1 out... it will tell u how much physical memory is available but ur system wont use it all unless u have 64bit windows... ubuntu is...
if i felt like opening up my computer id take pictures of it... the standoffs are actually part of my motherboard tray... as in u cant take them off... as in u can actually see the hardware from the backside of the motherboard tray... its hex shaped on the backside of the tray... but thats how...
what would be really cool is if u found a way to get a second chamber in there big enough to house some goldfish or something... obviously it would have to hold water... but u wouldnt need a heater or anything and u could put tropical fish in there... that would be the ultimate mod...
actually on the p180 series... not only do they come preinstalled but they are part of the motherboard tray... i would have to say that is very uncommon... but not really a big deal... im assuming they think that deadens sound from the motherboard vibrating... whatever...
it is literally the exact same thing... only difference is the mobo tray only fits mATX... ive seen it... nothing special... too big to be sff... too small to be for an enthusiast gaming rig... its a mainstream attempt with most of the same features as the p180... if it were a little more...
ive seen the box... trust me its a p180b... im pretty sure the p182 has more holes going vertically down the mobo tray along the right edge of the mobo... mine doesnt have that... im also pretty sure the p182 has more space between the back of the tray and the side panel... things are tight back...
mine is actually the 1000... im guessing they would be the same size though... but ya id say my best piece of advice would be to put the cables in first and then put the fan in once the cabling is done... but ive noticed one really stupid thing about the power supply... they have both an 8-pin...
actually the interesting part is that the wall i hit in my overclock wasn't due to temperature at all... the system runs pretty cool considering its on a 700MHz oc... but i never attempted tweaking hyperthreading or anything like that because i just dont know enough about it to try... im sure if...
although i painted it almost a week ago now and it still smells like spray paint... any ideas for getting rid of that smell that dont require me to take it all apart?
im running a 9600BE stable at 3GHz... and it was bought retail about a month ago... so i would have to say its possible... oh and its air cooled...
but 3.2 very improbable...
