The response time and input lag are totally different things:
The response time is how long it takes a pixel to change from one color to another (usually measured in grey to grey), and this is the 6ms figure. This is low enough now that it makes little difference to most people.
Input lag...
There probably is color shift, but it is really much less noticeable than on my 2405fpw PVA monitor. Maybe Sony used an IPS panel, although I doubt it seeing as they are pretty much committed to PVA along with Samsung.
I'm pretty sure my Sony LCD is a S-PVA (might be wrong), and it has absolutely PERFECT viewing angles, and delivers a stunning picture. I think PVA is the technology of choice for TVs and maybe for PC displays if you only want to game and browse, whereas IPS offers perfect quality at expense of...
I may be wrong, but I'm not sure you would notice the lag with console gaming as it is not as much of a 'twitch' sport as PC gaming, where you always notice a mouse delay. I think you would be fine on the input lag front, as I can't feel any delay on my LCD HDTV, which has always felt fine to...
I'm pretty sure burn-in is now not much of an issue, unless you leave it running the same stuff day in day out (like in airports etc).
If you're gaming then I doubt burn-in will be an issue at all.
PS I'm not in a great position to advise you on TVs, as in the UK and Europe in general, the...
Agreed!
Found it here:

Tiny bit overbudget, but that would make one awesome gaming display imo ;)
Doesn't seem to have HDMI or many...
Yeah I'm not sure the pic is a great representation, and it's hardly fair to compare an expensive 30" IPS to a 24" TN either, but I just wanted to show people the difference.
PS. Sorry my pic is so rubbish, I'm no photographer :D
Yeah Hardforum's greys are one of the toughest colours for monitors to produce. On more bright colours, you probably wouldn't notice the effect, unless the colour took up the whole screen.
PVA also has problems with greys like you said, in that it has a similar thing to the TN panel but in a...
That colour darkening towards the top looks pretty drastic to me!
Is the picture bad, or is it really like that in normal use? If so, TN is definately not for me!
Pretty amazing deal lol :D
Unfortunately my Dell P1100 is complete trash now, its colours and contrast are completely wrong, and there are horizontal green lines running across the screen. Shame :(
But your one sounds great, must be a pretty record deal, a high quality CRT for $5! ;)
I don't really understand...
If you only game on consoles why not get a 1080p tv? I know you say they are too expensive but over here in UK TV's are much cheaper than monitors.
For example:

I know...
ead, it's 'Input lag' not 'Input leg'! :D
And the way it affects you in real life is the mouse just feeling generally unresponsive, and sluggish. My 2405fpw has this affect massively, and it's very annoying. Atm I'm using a monitor with around 2 frames of lag (33ms) and it feels absolutely...
Maybe he plans on using the monitors for something else apart from the stock market?
If you've got the money the NEC is probably the best monitor out atm, so I'd say go for it, even if it is total overkill :D
But you yourself admitted that CRT tech is flawed...
It takes 30 mins to warm up, has very high power consumption, and is so bulky they can't make large 24" plus screens. There's more: They lose their image quality over time (my 8 year old 21" CRT looks like utter crap now), text never looks...
Eh?
A Ferrari makes a complete racket, has no boot, does around 15 miles to the gallon, costs a fortune, is impractical to drive around town etc. IPS panels in contrast have very little compromise apart from the very high cost. Viewing angles are almost perfect, and the ghosting really is...
Everyone's picky, its just that most people have never seen anything better than their TN panel. The newer TNs hardly look awful, but put it next to a decent IPS monitor, and almost everyone would tell the difference.
Now how many people have actually seen an IPS monitor to be picky about? :D...
I have something like this on my Hazro HZ30W, but it can't be the cables or the video card, as it only happens once the monitor has warmed up, and I've used my PC with my old 2405fpw, and it never does it. It isn't horizontal lines like yours is, but blue or green pixels flickering on certain...
This is the T260 26" monitor new from Samsung:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-087-SA&groupid=703&catid=17&subcat=510
Looks gorgeous but I bet it's a TN panel like the rest of them...
Didn't think a 6ms time was typical of TN's though, but Overclockers may...
Cheap TN panel, surely you don't need yet another one! :D
The Doublesight is really quite unique in that it has almost no lag, and top quality panel due to H-IPS.
Good news bc_tileguy :)
The input lag on the 2405fpw isn't awful, but really did get annoying compared to my CRT. If the 2707wfp feels much better like you say, seems like it's my next monitor :D
A good input lag test is this mouse speed game:
http://www.fetchfido.co.uk/games/mouse_speeed/mouse_speed.htm
Try setting a sub 20 sec time on Level 5 with a 2408wfp! :D
From the sound of it, Hazro's 24" is much better than its 30". I've had 3 of them, and unbelievably the first 2 had 20+ stuck pixels, and the 3rd has 2 dead pixels in a cluster which always looks black.
The monitor also has a weird flickering pixel effect which is just plain wrong. It's hard...
Just tested my 2405fpw with my 8800gtx sli rig, and the lag is gone with acceleration set to max so I guess it was a driver/graphic card issue. As ToastyX says I cant lower it as I have Nvidia drivers on Vista
Yeah, input lag is a problem if you also want to enable Vsync. I got used to it, but it doesn't feel anywhere near as responsive as without it. Hardcore players probably never enable Vsync anyway lol :D
Firstly, thanks a lot ToastyX who seems to be the only person on the internet who knows about this hardware acceleration fix.
I turned acceleration completely off, and the mouse is much more responsive. 1 notch to the left doesn't seem to help however, which might suggest the problem is...
