Are you opposed to purchasing a previous generation MBP?
If not, www.macmall.com might still have some available for under $1,500.00 and they are not refurbished. I actually picked up a new (not refurb) previous generation MBP for my wife (2.5Ghz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD) for $1,399.00 at...
1) If the phones are using Cat3 cabling then either someone failed to properly upgrade the existing network before deploying your IP Telephony system or they are actually digital handsets. The first of these two being an issue that arises quite a bit with vendors selling low end IP Telephony...
Is this for folks using a single IP Phone at home for personal use or for those of us out here that use one as an extension of their office phone system?
I have an 871W w/ power injector and a 7970 for my home office (connected to an IAD with a T1) all tied into my actual office as I work...
Tell me about it, we have customers with some small branch offices that need local call control and are knocking down wanting to get their hands on the UC500. They look very nice, I was able to see a live demo at the Cisco Partner Summit in Las Vegas last month...
At one time I held the CCSA and CCSE certifications. However, I believe they are both expired as I have not worked with Checkpoint in quite some time, but they were some of the easier exams I have taken...
My first question is, how big is this house? Up to a 500 ft run, that's 1.66 football fields!!!
My second question, if you can afford a house that big why not pay someone to do it?
255.255.255.128 is a 25 bit mask that results in a single subnet with 126 hosts. The host range would be aaa.bbb.ccc.129 - aaa.bbb.ccc.254
I did not look at the articel you linked, but assume that is just an example of an IP scheme you can use. I think the bigger question is, can your AP's...
FYI, that device is not a PIX, it's an 800 series ISR (Integrated Services Router).
In order to load up the SDM software using the installer (from a PC) you will need the following...

I don't normally use the Cisco IP Phones with the SIP load (usually SCCP), but I believe you need to have a password set before that field will change and allow you to edit the configuration...
Also, you can always edit the configuration from the phones interface instead of using a browser...
If you want to keep it simple and are on a budget you can go with a...

Your best bet will be to do the following since some of your devices do not have VLAN support.
Use your new switch as the core router/switch for the network. Connect two internal ports from the firewall to that switch. Configure each port on your firewall for the corresponding internal...
Do you have it set up similar to this (I am not sure what interfaces you are actually using so this is simply an example)? As long as it's ethernet on both sides then as long as you have your interfaces, routing, NAT, and ACL's set up properly then you should be good to go...
You could always move out of the consumer market and into the commercial market with guys like Cisco. These products will obviously cost more and be more difficult to configure, but if you are looking for reliability, they are hard to beat.
That being said, if any of the problems you have...
You don't need the onsite contract in order to obtain software updates, the SMARTnet product CON-SNTP-AS5B50K9 will give you 24x7x4 and allow you to register this product/contract under your CCO account in order to obtain updates as they are released. This contract retails for $142.00 per...
Go with the ASA 5505, it cost's about the same as the PIX 501, but does a lot more. The below will allow 50 internal hosts and supports up to 10 simultaneous IPSec VPN users.
Part #: ASA5505-50-BUN-K9
Description: ASA 5505 50-User Bundle (Chassis, SW, 50 Users, 3DES/AES)
MSRP: $845
As long as you are not running multiple VLAN's, have no need to trunk the two switches, and everything is on the default native vlan (1), then you should be able to just plug it in...
So far so good in my experience. I have been running it on a pair of ASA 5550's for a few month's now. The 5550's will be overkill for 100+ SSL peer's, but the 5510 or 5520 would work.
If you go with the 5520 you can take advantage of VPN clustering and load balancing as well as statefull...
Yeah, that's really not all that strange...
Do you think this is what is causing problems with your router or was this simply an observation? Because if so, it's not...
That's why I said "As long as", meaning they have done the proper research and are certain that the financial institution they are using meets the criteria they require. Maybe I should have been more clear, but in no way did I mean to imply that you should assume they are secure just because...
Could they not be relatively certain that their information is secure as long as they are using a financial institution that has implemented safeguards such as SSL, if they use a complex password, and if they change said password at regular intervals, etc?
As long as NO data is sent...
First off, Gigabit Ethernet and Fast Ethernet are both Ethernet. A media converter is used to do exaclty what it says, convert the media (i.e., Copper to Fiber or vice-versa).
A 3825 should have no problem negotiating it's speed and/or duplex. You should also be able to force the...
Wireless networks are based on standards, IEEE 802.11x. Therefore, as long as you have a compliant wireless adapter then you should be able to connect whether you are using Linux, Windows, etc.
Are you unable to connect to the wireless network at all, unable to obtain an IP address?
Maybe you just have bad luck with SOHO routers? It does happen...

All you are doing is limiting the amount of traffic your firewall let's through to your local LAN, that's it. You have no control over what traffic actually hits the outside of your firewall, only the traffic (or in this case, amount of traffic) that you let in...
Does this make sense or are...
OK, so what kind of answer are you looking for if the answer "you are consuming all of your bandwidth therefore RTD times will rise regardless of the fact that you are policing your outbound traffic" is not to your liking?
It's called round-trip delay for a reason, it's the addition of both...

Like everyone else said, it is perfectly normal to see your latency rise as you consume more and more of your available bandwidth. As to why you were not seeing this before is anyone's guess...
They are CDDI(proprietary to a company called Crescendo I believe)/FDDI concentrators.
As far as I know they can be connected to a dual-ring or another concentrator if one is acting as the A end and one is acting as the B end.
I don't think they will be of much use to be totally honest...
Gotcha, those look like the proper commands to set up EtherChannel, but don't you also need something similar to this?

It's been a while for me, if you post...
