I've had both and the few days i had the 3008wfp i always was leaning towards the 3007wfp. The lag between the two was definitely noticeable to me, not so much in gaming, but on the desktop. The 3007wfp always felt like i was on a CRT in terms of responsiveness.
The picture slightly leaned...
I am having this same issue with my 3007WFP-HC and XFX 5870.
I managed to swap out the monitor for another one as i am still within my 30day satisfaction period and the new monitor produces more of the green lines, but it overall a better built monitor ie(not so loose screen, frame is more...
I've had nothing but problems dealing with Techsunny! Horrible place to buy from. If you see this PSU there go elsewhere. I put my first order in that stated they had this PSU but in fact did not. Buyer beware!

Yeah, it does really sting when spending this much, but i'm hoping that all goes away when i start to use this new monitor.
Another reason that one would even think twice on buying a monitor now, is CES is just around the corner. Who knows what just around the corner and the prices may be...
I'm sure we all had those moments of spending! :D
Believe it or not, i haven't built a computer for 8years so this new rig i'm putting together is sort of justified. If this new rig lasts as long as my last one, then I believe it's money well spent!!!
I pulled the trigger on the last day of a sale on a Ultrasharp 3008wfp....wow even with discounts and my EPP I can't believe this monitor can go for this much!
I read all the reviews and comments here on this monitor and thanks goes out to 10e for helpful insight. The general consensus is that...
I followed those settings as well and i too have not noticed a difference when using a different .icc profile from the default installed.
Anyone care to share what exactly these profiles do?
I noticed the monitor came with a display port cable, so out of curiousity I connected this to my XFX 5870 and low and behold the input lag was decreased to the same level as the VGA input!!!
The difference is there and it is noticeable, at least for me. It is better than the DVI...
Yeah saw that sale as well. Dell is probably trying to clear out the remaining inventory for a possible new 27" replacement.
Are you going back to the 3007wfp?
Agree!
Get out now before it's too late and you spent several G's on the computer. Over a year from now all this gear will be worthless anyways!
If the 5770 is capable at playing your games now then get it and sell the 5870 while it is at a premium.
My take would be to just go straight to the 5970 and not have to worry about Video card upgrades for at least a year and maybe even two year!
Your GTX285 is capable, but if you really want to maximize your upgrade I would go for the 5970 and be done with it! :D
I just tried my 2709w rev A04 on VGA and the Input lag is MUCH less apparent.
I can quickly compare this to the one of the DVI connections when switching via the KVM and the difference is definitely perceivable. It would seem like the circuitry in the digital domain causes more of the lag...
it could be your video card.
I had a 5850 and any resolution other than 2560x1600 worked well. It was only when I ran at native resolution that my monitor also produced horizontal pixels.
Thinking it was the monitor i exchanged the 3007wfp, but it ended up being the video card. I ended...
Just got my 2709w as well and your thoughts mirror mine on the lag.
This monitor could have been perfect if were not the lag. The colors, black levels, and font size to me are perfect. I'm playing Unreal Tournament 2004 and it does not feel that bad in this game, but only when in the desktop...
great thanks for your review.
How is the backlight uniformity and what about the black levels??
I have a samsung 191T and the PVA panels produce amazing blacks. Something i haven't seen yet on an IPS based monitor. I understand that it won't be as good but if it is close than that should...
THat's because Crysis is the shittiest coded game ever! To have a modern multi GPU dip this low on a game that is a few years old now says something on how efficient the coding is on this game!
With the exception of crysis, the new 58xx/59xx video cards are tearing up all games!
Give the Dell 2709w a shot. There currently at revision A04 which may have addressed the notorious input lag to an acceptable level. I am thinking of giving this one a shot since the 3007wfp-hc i got may not be what i am looking for in my next monitor.
The only feature missing from a near perfect feature set is: LED Backlighting
I would be interested in the larger displays >27" but I am sure these displays are going to be at or above >2K!
I just got my 3007WFP-HC and beyond the intially size reaction, I have to say i am not too impressed with the quality thus far.
I will run your test this evening but i wouldn't be surprised if i get the same results.
So far my biggest issues are:
- Extreme backlight uniformity...
Understood and I never suggested that the lag would be eliminated but reduced. I totally understand that this anomaly is inherent in this technology. There may be a chance that Dell has made this version less susceptible to it. We've already seen this from the A01 revision, and in the A02...
After doing a little research, apparently this monitor is now out with revision A04. It may be possible that this notorious input lag has been reduced to an acceptable level.
Does anyone have this revision and can perform the input lag test?
To all Canadians,
This monitor is on sale for Black Friday for a whopping $999!!
For this price on a 30" can't be beat! THis is almost 40% off :D

Well, thanks so much guys for the advice! After careful consideration and the help of this poll i am happy to say i have a DELL 3007WFP-HC on the way!!!
My reasoning was that for gaming i did not want to be offset to one side plus what really made me bite was a Black Friday sale of $999...
I've had no problems with the trackpad and would find it sufficient as a mouse replacement. It even responds to single and double taps which was surprising to me. Some of the review probably were on early units.
Overall I'm very pleased with the keyboard.
Here's what I would value in the next Dell 30" LCD
1) LED Backlighting!
2) Real contrast of at least 1000:1
3) Minimal anti-glare coating.
4) Low input lag (Similar to 3007WHP-HC).
5) 2 x DVI, 1 x HDMI, 1 x Display Port
Maybe a Poll would demonstrate the what are the most poplular.
My vote goes to the Dinovo Edge. I love the style, smooth laptop keystrokes, the wireless is great, and the battery lasts forever! The only thing missing is the illuminated keys.
Wow looks like folks here really love their larger screens!
Yup, the plan is to use the monitor for computer use now, but I would imagine having the scaler or even more inputs would be beneficial when the time comes to demote the monitor to other duties ie: a bedroom tv!
Thanks all for your feedback!
Well I wish i had room for 3 monitors but this is not physically possible for me with my desk setup. Even the dual 24" would be pushing it with each of the sides right up against my desk so a third would be physically not possible, even in portrait.
I...
Hey all,
Looking at additional insight on my ongoing quest in replacing my 191T LCD. The 191T has been a workhorse for nearly 9yrs for me and i'm pretty sure any replacement will outdo it in performance and sheer size, but i am looking here on the merits of multi-monitor vs single large...
Looks like the vanilla 5850 and 5870 also went up by $30.
I have this black edition in my cart, going to order! What's an extra few bucks when I've waited this long!
