I was thinking of setting up 1/2 P2's, and probably my grandad's old P2 (He died of cancer) to fold 24/7, or near enough 24/7
Would these be a waste of bandwidth and electricity compared to one high spec machine?
It won't post at 265 or 270. Should I tweak my RAM timings to allow it to go further
My RAM is 3x 256Mb Corsair 3700,
232Mhz,
The CAS Latency is 3,
RAS# to CAS# is 4,
RAS# Precharge is 4,
TRAS# is 8
Any ideas?
Ok, installed new SATA harddrive last night. Left it defragging this afternoon. Came back, CPU @ 48C and the heatsink fan was going nuts.
Thought, oh crap, better plug in case fans. Now i've got 1 80mm and 1 120mm rigged up to do 7V. I try to connect while its on spark pop no smoke. Plug it...
2.4 Ghz, im running Prime now. Its a 754 3000 on a K8N
43 Degrees, usually about 34 load lol
Since the stock speed already blows me away and I only did this to merely see what it could do, is there a program that could change my speed in Windows easily?
My mums starting a nursery and i'll probably brighten up her PC with a lick of paint. I was thinking just Red/Yellow/Blue and Green. She's pretty creative so she'll probably give me some stencils to work with too.
Anyway wondering if anybody had links to a few mods similar to this or aimed at...
Im getting the ABit AV8 Pro, the page says: "The AV8 comes with 4 DIMM slots supporting four 184-pin DIMM sockets (Un-buffered Non-ECC DIMM) and supports Dual Channel DDR 400/333/266"
Im buying Corsair DDR400, DDR466 is cheaper...Has lifetime warrenty blah blah blah.
I do want to try a bit...
I just bought (With my new A64 System) a 120mm Fan with a 80mm>120mm converty piece of overpriced plastic.
Now, where is it gunna go? Theres a place for a case fan on the side of the PC that it could probably fit without touching my Arctic Silencer, but would it be better to stick it in one...
I have a Duron 1800 and 256MB Crucial RAM. Whenever I put the fsb up from 133 it boots with a blank screen. I think its the memory thats holding me back, should I change the timings and how safe is changing the timings?
Thanks:)
1)Getting 2 120mm fans sticking one as an exhaust on the side panel (with 80mm to 120mm converter), sticking another on my existing CPU heatsink and getting a VGA Silencer.
OR
2)The scary world of Watercooling.
I just wanna make my PC as quiet as possible but I don't want to spend £150+...
I have a Saphirre 9600, with the stock passive heatsink. I have a case fan blocwing cool air directly underneath it and I put an old 486 CPU fan on the sink. It can now get about 440Core, 240Mem. After playing a few hours of CoD, the sink is cold. I put the mem clock back to stock and click find...
(Standard)
With 1800 Duron, 256Mb RAM
Overclocked to 423 Core, 244 Mem
3DMARK01=8140
3DMARK03=3/4K
BTW I checked the RAM numbers, its Samsung RAM rated at 200Mhz
Just moved my pc from case to case. Everything is connected, didn't post. I reseated the CPU and Ram. Still won't post. Drives do nothing when plugged in but when there unplugged I can hear some activity.
Is it the drives? :(
Ok I was rebuilding an engine with my dad, and he put this copper paste on the threads of screws.
Would that paste work as thermal compound, although alot of it is probably lube it had copper in and you could see it.
Meh just an idea :)
My Saphirre 9600 is in the post. I think its the model without the fan, anyway. Stock what can I expect through overclocking. And if I found a way to attach a P2 era (Not Slot CPU) heatsink about 2 inches cubed to it what should I aim for :p

I do alot of polishing at work, brass mainly. Anyway I lapped the copper base of my Volcano 7.
As stock it was weird, tons of fine rings around it from when it was originally machined. I started with 300 grit to get rid of a few scratches I made getting the thermal pad off, then 500, 600...
Its a Flip2Disk 20Gb by Origin Storage Solutions. Its all plugged in. Windows detects it (2K) installs the drivers it thinks it needs, says it works fine. I can't see it in My Computer and i've tried installing the other drivers but it still thinks it knows best.
What should I do? Manually...
I've got a fan on my window. Originally I put it as an intake. I've just replaced my PSU and I used some pretty thick black plastic tubing on it so that will probably be right in the fans face
Any ideas?
Its sitting in the corner of my room in a anti static bag at the moment :(
I took it up to the loft, changed the powersupply, took it down...I think it was all the moving about that did it.
I booted up, gave me all the normal Win2K stuff...Then blue screen....Run CheckDisk
I tried in...
But I can't find a nice freeware program to do it. I've looked all through download.com. Its BBC radio one. I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Hyde Park yesterday and its being played tonight.
The "player" from the website comes up in a new window, erm..When I increase volume the On...
My PC specs are:
Duron 1800
256Mb RAM
AGP8 compatable
I've looked around and narrowed my choices down to:
A high end 9200
A low end 9600
A GeForce FX5200 with controller and 2 games
Or the 256Mb version of above ordered from the net with no extras
I don't care if it is ATI or...
My PC at the mo' has a tiny motherboard and the case dosen't fit on my tiny desk. I only use 1 of the 4 drive bays in my case, and 1 maybe 2 harddrives will be used.
So im looking for a mini tower. With space for 2 harddrives and one cd drive bay.
A decent built aluminium one would be...
A week ago, I ran Prime95 for 24hours no problems. I just opened up the PC to see if I could do the cache mod. Put the heatsink back on and now prime 95 creates an error after about 30 seconds. I have higher temps too.
Did I put the heatsink back on...AND I did take some thermal paste...
Why did they put it where they did. My 2 case fans keep the case at 27C but because that stupid little thing measures the case temp not the CPU temp its at bout 1250RPM and the CPU is at 47C! (Duron 1800)
Has anyone moved the thermistor by extending the wires? Can anyone suggest where to put...
I did the hub mod and I still had 4 Nes's left so.............
Im sticking a Saturn in a NES case, this is it so far
