Native quad core means a single piece of silicon containing 4 cores. Connectivity between the cores has nothing to do with if it is a native quad core cpu (Both companies will do it differently). So multiple chips in one package or multiple packages on a motherboard is not native. That means...

Should have more info than you could care...
The issue you described can occur just by adding an X-FI card. It does not affect any games just 3dmark. So it is not really a big deal unless you benchmark a bunch.
Your "fix" has me wondering. I will pass that information on to ATI.
I get early sample ATI cards (for testing) so I have had X1950 XTX CF for some time. There is no known issue with 6.9 and CF. They need to look for some other trouble. One issue I have found is 3Dmark05 and 06 benching strange on some boards with an XFI card installed. I have had this trouble on...
Space to me is going to be a major issue. Some people had mentioned E-ATX as a solution but it is not. E-ATX does not make the board "taller" for more slot room but "wider" so that the motherboard has room for things like a 2nd CPU or additional ram slots. (AKA a server board.) So a totally new...
I have tested the XFX 7950 GX2 on the A8N-SLI (not DX) and it worked fine. The board had the latest bios installed no issues. You should be good to go. ;)
Sometimes failures can take time to occur. I had a customers system with a pair of 7800 GTs in it. We had tested the hardware for 24 hrs...no problems. We watercooled the cards and built the system. It ran fine for a week while we installed the OS, Updated, OC'd and burned the system in. We had...
We are looking for a little help on our site so I will keep that in mind. I will help for nothing as I just want your system to run right. :)
On the systems I have built we have added no additonal drivers for the FX-60. (We are looking at the dual core optimizer.)
Your temps are real good...
Again I vote change the PSU and retest.
Just to give a little proof I have worked with CF and are not just guessing.
2nd company down is mine. ;)

Ohh and don't return everything and rebuy.... but if a full refund on the CPU, MB...
This is true. I have heard that there is going to be a Hotfix until the next Cat drive is released.
Don't regret it. Once you get your bugs ironed out it will rock.
I have a ton of experience with CF (and SLI for that matter.) The flickering and the red LEDs on the cards flickering more specifically leads me to believe there is a problem with the PSU. The red LEDs on the card only light up when the cards are not getting power from the AUX PCI-E connection...
For multi monitor you can use the 2nd slot. It will work fine. I would recommend keep with ATI cards as mixing ATI and NV in the same system has been known to cause problems. (So the 1300 you noted should be perfect.)
Really good post.
I too have been always at the front of the tech wave when it comes to PC gaming. I remember getting an AdLib sound card. Before that most games had no sound or just PC speaker beeps. With an AdLib card WingCommander could have sound if I bought the add-on sound pack. At the...
Totally.
One thing that would be nice is a "SLI" SKU for NV cards that is just the plain card so I don't have to pay for all that software twice. Or an SLI pack with both cards included and a small price break.
Food coloring will work fine and won't hurt anything.
BTW Zerex is pinkish, purple because of dye added to it. All coolant (glycol) is dyed a specific color unless you buy it bulk from a industrial chemical company.
Water wetter with zerex. = No big deal as water wetter is an additive...
I have been working with the A8R32 for a few months. We just received the CFX3200. It took me a total of 3 hours to decide to install the DFI board in my personal system. I was having multiple problems with multiple A8R series boards. The DFI board just plain works better.
Issues with the...
I does exist. I heard it from a NV board partner that I buy cards from before launch. I stated this earlier in the thread. They said that the 7900 series were going to be very tight allocation. AKA very little stock. (They did expect for it to get better but it still has not.) You can believe it...
All this is interesting. I assume most people have cel phones. How many of you have purchased a custom ring tone? Or paid to text message. This is very much the same thing. You pay $50 bucks a month for cel service but don't get free ring tones or unlimited testing. (It is an option for a fee.)...
MS made it clear that they wanted to test this idea. It is just like all the "custom" skins for you 360 that have to be paid for. Just another attempt to make money. Hopefully people will not buy it. If they do then it justifies it to MS and game developers.
Vote with your pocket book.
The die shrink caused ATI tons of trouble too. Think about all the X1800 delays and supply issues. I am sure NV will get it figured out.
BTW ATI and NV are almost the same size. They seem to trade biggest Graphic card company year to year. It is what makes the battle between them so good. :)
NV has a supply issue for sure. When 7800 GTX launched there was tons of cards available the day it came out. There never was a tight supply. With 7900 we have not even received all our allocation. OC cards are especially hard to get. We just got confirmation on Friday of some more cards...
Due to die shrink the X2 cores are about the same size as the original Clawhammer single cores.
X2 = 199mm2
CLawhammer = 193mm2
Like what was said above. It works fine.
I too have run both the Expert and RDX200 (same layout) with a 4 pin PSU with dual videocards. With a good quality PSU there is no problem. (do plug in the 2nd power connector next to the PCI-E slot.)
The Addendum for SLI configuration states " It is preferable to use the 8-pin power (rather...
That is an AMD sample box for sure. AMD uses them for shipping demo/sample CPUs to people. They have been using them for years. My first one had a 1800+ XP in it.
Maybe Monarch sold you a sample? or just used the box from one. My sample FX-60 came in one of thoses and it is a monster OCer...
What you got is an AMD sample box. When AMD loves you and sends you a sample processor it comes in that box. ;)
BTW Bulk or OEM CPUs come in a big black or blue tray. (Many places put them in individual packaging but they do not come that way.) Only retail are packaged for individual sale...
Do you mind if I use these pictures. Some people complain about the fact that we only ship FedEX and use a $300 dollar shipping box on our gaming systems. (We loan it to them so they don't have to buy it.) The old saying, " A picture is worth a thousand words." :D
I have a friend that has an 1900 XT-X and a 3500+. Both stock he gets a 9431 in 05. BTW The CPU is a bottleneck for sure. With an FX-60 I get 11K. With an FX-60 at 3GHz I get 12K. The performance scales in games too. With a XT-X the more CPU I give the card the higher my FPS in games so the cpu...
One reason many places use 3/8" is that they are using pre-made cooling kits. (Thermaltake and Koolance. The biggest tubes they offer is 3/8")
Also 1/2" is harder to work with. Going between two cards in SLI/ Crossfire can be a challenge not have a crimp in the line. Also larger tubes take...
On the XTX Vs XT. The XTX runs at it's faster speed when run in CF. (It does not de-clock) The XT and XTX are the same physical layout. I have not checked on RAM speed yet. In theory the XTX bios could run on a XT.
Distributors are not supposed to sell product early either.... but even if they did. Selling early is bad. It shows that places can't be trusted to launch on time. This makes ATI physically hold inverntory until after the NDA is up. That in turn delays mass availablity for a few days.
ATI and...
