I'm building a new system around an ASUS P8P67PRO and I can move over my SB X-Fi ExtremeGamer easily enough but I was wondering how the on board sound is these days. I use this system primarily for gaming. I haven't followed the audio trends in a while so I appreciate your thoughts on this. Or...
You've been using the search feature ;)
Yep, unfortunately (because it is nifty, cool looking program), after disabling PC Probe II my sound worked appropriately ever since. I've not yet checked for or tried any newer versions of PC Probe though.
Glad this helped.
For a long time I've always downloaded the catalyst suite with the ATI driver. Today, it struck me that I hardly ever even look at the controls in the Catalyst suite. Should I keep installing the Catalyst suite or should I just download the drivers only? Is there something in the Catalyst driver...
Last night I noticed it booted and played the windows sound/chime before the wave volume is set to zero. It appears that the ASUS PC Probe II is causing it . . .
Bumping the FSB to 401 will produce what new frequency (what is the stock multiplier)? What kind of overclocks have others with similar hardware seen? Any noticeable heat increases?

I just built this rig on WinXP Pro. I runs like a champ! However, every time I boot the system it defaults the wave volume controller to zero. It's not muted but the slider is always at the lowest...

The e6300 is cooled by the kick a$$ Zalman CNPS 9500 (and AS5) I already owned.
I've seen some reports of the e6300 overclocking 50%-90% on air. Like the rest of you, I wouldn't mind using some of...

It is also u3 ready.
Finally found a USB flash drive worth spending my $$$ on.
Anyone have any experience with particular scenario? The case has four fans (1-120mm and 1-200mm) that are all molex connectors. Most of the fan controllers I see are 3-pin connections. Would I run into any problems with that?
I just got my Antec Nine Hundred in yesterday. I'm very much impressed by this case and am looking forward to installing components in it.The only thing I am a bit miffed about is the the switches that control the fans are unaccessible from outside the case once everything it buttoned up...
You have obviously never seen what 12 months inside a computer case does to a rubber band.
Et al. I'm not looking for an aftermarket solution. Are there no other case manufacturers that include any kind noise dampening solution in their cases to minimize hard drive vibration.
I've used ASUS for years and am partial to them but will consider any motherboard that would serve my purpose. I'm looking for a board that is full-featured and uses one of the latest chipsets. It would be great if it could support quad core but that is not a top priority since some BIOSes...
I'm looking for info and options on internet security appliances. We are a small company (less than 100 PCs) with a T1 and need to get better control of bandwidth usage. We know we would like options to block access to some specific domains as well as completely block some individual user...
I've repositioned the router as well as can be done given the location of the wired PCs to the router and the layout of the house. Range extending antennas might help but I thik the layout of the house (walls/floors) is really afecting the range the most.
I currently have the wireless D-Link gaming router. My 2 gaming PCs are wired to it. My 2 laptops use the wireless. The problem is the configuration of my house doesn't allow for very good wireless range. What are my options to extend the range? No doubt I need more hardware but what should I...
We have a dual processor G4 with a flaky optical drive. Actually the current DVD drive was intended for a PC but was put in the G4 when its original drive gave up. What's flaky about it is that, after a while, the the drive will not eject. The system has to b restarted to eject the disk. If this...
Start by buying and playing games just like everyone else. Review it fairly and post it to your site/forum. Build up your site in this manner until it fairly large and respectable. The gaming companies will then respect your opinions.
I tweaked my router a bit and the speed picked up a bit. Doing anything that has images/graphics is slow. Copying files of any size is also slow. Navigating through the remote home PC is fine and so is working in documents such a spreadsheet.
Turning down the connection speed in the options...
I can qualify this statement by saying that Remote Desktop works like a champ on a LAN. I use it ocassionally at work and that's what led me to try it back to a home PC.
I set up my home PC to allow remote desktop connection. I connect to it just fine through my DLink Gaming Router. The problem is that it is a bit sloooow. Both PCs are P4s with 1GB RAM. The connection at home is standard Comcast 6M/384K and the connection here is a T1. I'm guessing the 384K is...
oops. I missed the 5-10 drives request. His OP mentioned he was going to use his 3 existing 160 GB drives so I was going off that. He can easily get 1+ TB with 4 drives though ;)
I second using a ReadyNAS from http://www.infrant.com/ . Mine is the ReadyNASx6 and is SO easy to set up and use. I bought mine over a year ago and put a pair of 80 GB SATA in them. In fact, now that they are full, I came here to hardforum to look for bigger drives to put in it. It has built in...
I'm looking for a freeware net usage monitor that would run in stealth mode and would collect website addresses, etc. Anything like that available? Yes, we have someone being bad and need to get proof.
I run the IT department at a small company which is small enough that I am the only IT guy. We recently had a manager leave. One of the last things he did was make his hard drive unbootable. He was the type that is computer savvy but not IT material. His leaving was not on the best of terms and...
All 3 of these boxes in question are set to " 2 = Time Limitless Work Units " The box that works perfectly is NOT set to timeless.
From my earlier quote:
Looks like molson3530 is right. How do I switch my boxes to normal at this point?
All four boxes are behind the same firewall. There have been no recent firewall changes. The fourt box is running like a champ but it is configured a bit different.
EM3 monitors 4 boxen remotely for me. All four are in the same building. Currently 3 of them are not folding for some reason. I noticed they all have the same protein number: 393. All have a blue circle with a number out to the side. EM3 is connected to these boxen but it's as if all 3 stopped...
