It will be over 5 weeks before mine arrives. 3 weeks was the estimate for me as well.
bek, pay for faster shipping. My machine will have been in the hands of fedex for 7 straight days by the time it arrives. Ground blows.
I'm getting tired head, so please forgive me but I had resolved that I needed a UPS with my new computer. In my 50 year old house, brownouts and flickering happens periodically and it's not uncommon for me to come home from work and find that my computer has rebooted or the clocks are flashing...
Dunno. I kind of like their responses there. Sure, it's late, but hell, at this point they could drive to your house and drop off a 10k system and you'd be on here posting 20 minutes later that they didn't include a lapdance.
Wow. I'm sure he's happy that he was candid with you in that e-mail.
Guy's gonna get fired over it and that will be one less person at Ava attempting to do the right thing by their customers.
These are real people here and while I understand the spectator sport component to this, most...
Most local assembly businesses are not intended for the enthusiast market. They build mid-range basic PC's. Not screaming gaming rigs. They cater to local businesses and your typical consumer.
Now, I'm sure that they're fine for making sure the parts work and can build a fine basic rig but...
Here's the reseller page for the company when it was named Solaris Computer Systems. Sun sued and they had to change the name
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Solaris_Computer_Systems
Nice reviews there between 12/11/07 - 4/2/08
Ahh. I see what you mean. It certainly would be just awful to be someone caught in that gap between order placement and company closure.
That being said, there's no evidence at all that MFPC is struggling. It's just a couple of us speculating that the owner must be running with incredibly...
You'll pay about 50% more for FalconNW. Now, you could do Maingear and pay about 20% again as much if you were concerned. They have a very good track record.
Between Solaris and MFPC there are 10 reviews and all were good. So far, no one here at [H] has had a bad experience either.
As...
Anyone know if MF is supporting warranties from Solaris? They had a name change but I don't believe it's anything sinister like we've seen in the AVA thread that's going nuts somewhere on this page.
edit: doh - looks like they got sued by Sun for trademark infringement. Sun has an OS named...
I like what I've seen over at MFPC also. His offerings are fairly broad. Not insane like AVA but not as restrictive as MG. His prices are excellent and it looks like he's very communicative on the boards, which I like.
My only real concerns are about his business itself. I get the feel...
Nope. They discontinued the Blackbird too.
Voodoo is out of the serious gaming business. Their only desktop now is a console/laptop-in-a-box/desktop hybrid.
I hear you'll be able to buy them at Best Buy if yu want that unique personal touch that only Voodoo can offer
Ok. Thanks
Someone was saying that I had to choose a 1000w psu over the same brand 750w simply because "they aren't comfortable using the adaptor" because they want to limit potential problems (the 1kw comes with a native 8 pin)
This was for a single card setup and I just thought 1kw was...
Title asks the question.
It seems that a dedicated 8 pin is only available on some PSU's. Was the 8 pin requirement for GPU's just a blip or will all the new ones use it?
Thanks!
Well, actually, the price difference in the last 3-6 months has creeped up to be around 25% more for comparable Puget/MG rigs.
i7 920
260 (if you go to the 280, you're looking at a 30% plus differential)
That's not even accounting for the clearly superior Silverstone (tj10) case that MG...
Anyone been watching what's going on with VoodooPC?
I had a Voodoo back in the day before they went ultra-luxury and it was awesome. From that time forward, they creeped up and up until the only people who bought Voodoo seemed to be celebrities and millionaires. Their barebones was 5k and...
What blows my mind about Puget is that their prices are really going up of late. They now top Falcon NW in $$$, which a year ago would have been laughable.
Go price a mid-range Falcon NW Mach V with a comparable Puget machine. You'll be surprised. Hell, the Falcon NW machine will actually...
Which fans were replaced for the quiet fan upgrade?
I like the finish protection film that was left on the box.
Also, I see you got the cardkeeper. I like that option for the big vid cards.
In light of the dominant issue of the year, the economy, I was curious how folks felt about it's impact on the boutique builders.
I've been shopping for awhile, but in early July, right when I was a few clicks away from buying a new machine (puget was my choice, William was awesome), I just...
Not sure what you're taking issue with. He was very complementary of Puget. What more do you want? For him to say Maingear sucks? They don't, so he didn't.
As to the word Puget (Sound), it refers to the area of NW Washington that includes Seattle. "Puget Sound" is a broad net of waterways, bays, etc that extend from the pacific ocean into washington state.
It's basically a giant metropolitan area that includes dozens of cities and towns.
The wikipedia article mentions none of that as it has already been edited.
Neither do the two sources cited.
The open edit functions of wikipedia mean that anyone can basically put up anything. Eventually stuff gets removed, as is probably the case here, but it is still a problem
I...
Thanks!
Is a single one of the new 4870X2 considered a CF for purposes you describe above? Would a single card be at 16X or does, somehow, having two chips on it mean it has to split into 8X?
I bought a voodoo once. It was really terrific. I loved my voodoo!
Something happened between then and now however. Then, I was able to buy a voodoo for less than 3k. Now, you can't get the voodoo mousepad for that.
