    GPS?

I've been shopping around for GPS systems as well. I'm kind of leaning toward the Nuvi 660 myself but the tomtom 910 is still a contender for my money. Any first hand information on either of these would be great.

Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit, 64bit, both???)

Which brings up the interesting question: What will the big OEMs preload on consumer systems? 32 or 64?

Is phase ok to run 24/7

It's the same thing your fridge and your cars AC uses. I'm not sure what coolant they'll use but it'll probably be tetrafluoroethane (we can't use freon anymore due to the whole ozone thing). Short version: It's "phase change" because your drawing the heat off your proccesor by...

Just installed XP x64 and was wondering...

Very old programs may contain old DOS based installers that are not supported by x64 edition I've heard. I haven't tried to install software that old on my computer so I can't tell you first hand. x64 edition can run 32 bit software without issue. The real trouble starts with anti-piracy...

    Opteron or X2?

One of the best parts of anandtech is their real time pricing engine, I got one of those for $440 just by hitting that site once a day.

Best proc for playing a game + taking videos?

His specific question was in regard to WOW. That is one of those peculiar games that doesn't follow conventional wisdom about video cards versus CPUs. Playing at 1280x1024 with most graphics options at high I still hit a CPU bottleneck (100% CPU use the whole time I"m playing). That is with...

    Monarch Computer slowest shipper EVER

I ordered an opteron from them on sunday, it shipped fedex saver on monday and it is "on vehicle for delivery" right now (wednessday). Pretty good performance in my book.

Opteron 175 or AMD 4000+ San Diego?

Monarch had the 175s down to 440 yesterday so I grabbed one. They have already popped up to 460 though. The higher multiplier is worth it for that price in my opinion.

AMD's 65 nano silicon ready to roll

At least they're not intel, they require new core logic for every change, no matter how small, it seems (I have to wonder if that's lack of forethought or just a method of drumming up chipset sales).

Stargate Alliance : Pulled from developer!

Yeah how bad does a game have to be for a publisher to actually pull it? /shudder

    X2 4400 - Should I just wait?

The prices are inflated (significantly over MSRP in most cases) almost certainly due to supply limits, same reason your having trouble finding them in stock. 3800+ should take some of the demand off the current low end chips. At least in theory ...

    Opteron vs A64

I've been wondering for a long time what the real diffrence between the opteron and A64 proccessors where. Opteron obviously has a registered memory controller and a 940 pinout but what makes it the enterprise part, there must be some other diffrences to explain the significant price diffrences.

Did YOU Go From an Intel P4 to an A64 X2 4400+? I'd like to hear from YOU!

GamePC did some comparisons of all 4 duel cores here. Oddly enough the only benchs that show any significant advantage for having more cache are the gaming ones, but how often do games like farcry and HL2 end up CPU bottlenecked? (if you answered "often" you have a way better video card then me...

WD 250 gig.. is this normal?

This is just a notation thing. People are exploiting the fact that giga actually means 10^9 but microsoft uses it to represent 1.073741824*10^9. It's not a matter of changing the way operation systems work, it's just a matter of denoting how much space your talking about effectivly. I...

    msi neo-fsr

I'm in the same market you are, looking for a 754 board for under $100. I really want gigabit lan on mine (I move massive media files to and from my HTPC alot). I looked at that Epox Nforce3-250GB board you listed but my experiences with epox have been really really bad, I've purchased one...

Moving OS partition to a new drive (XP)

The 200GB drive on the Nvidia raid controller already, motherboard mounted. It's just operation as a single drive. Had to install the drivers for the install of winXP and everything, which meant pulling a 3.5 inch off my old machine, ect (they really need to allow raid driver installation from...

Moving OS partition to a new drive (XP)

The title pretty much says what I'm trying to do. I currently have my OS (windows XP) on a 30GB partition of a 200GB drive. I'd like to get a couple 40GB drives in RAID 1 for the OS partition (lots of things on there I do NOT want to lose). The question is how to simply move the OS to the new...
