I have a structured home network that looks like this:
World
+Cable Modem/Router
+ Wireless-N router, DHCP 1 through 50.
- Work laptop (wireless), VPN once in a while
- Future devices or visitors (wireless, upon request)
+ Allied Telesyn 24-port dummy/un-managed Switch (Wired...
Anyone know anything about the GA-G33M-DS? The "little brother" to GA-G33M-DS2R
Looks to me that the diferences are:
- No raid
- No all-solid caps (some solid caps and some electrolitic caps, like most boards)
- So far, no BIOS update for 1:1 RAM timing (which should hold back OCing)...
Ok, so I am new at this and I need some help.
Unfortuantelly, the stickies are as good as dead, so I have a bunch of noob questions.
Like many people, i am trying to use old hardware: a 2.8GHz P4, 1GB RAM in a shuttle case (SB61 or something like that). My videocard is a 9800 XT (for...
I am trying to install WinXP on a brand new computer (C2D, NV570)
The installation will copy the install packets from the CD to the HD and reboot the system, however when windows starts "configuring" itself, it gives an error saying it cannot find a required component, or that the...
I have a question: if you cut the back of an x4 (or x1) slot and you insert a video card (x16), will it work? After all, you could get an x1 card and use it in an x4 or even an x16 slot.
I understand that the bandwith would be limited to just x4 (or x1), but will it work? could this...
Is this normal?
I got that from a SPARKLE PSU off of newegg... so, If this is a 400W PSU and the temp inside my case is 40C (for example, during gaming and with mediocre ventilation), then 40 - 25 = 15C. 15C x 2 W/C = 30W. 400W -30W = 370W.
Granted, 370W is more than enough for my rig...
Hey all, I have a Zippy/emacs PSU for sale/trade
It's a P1H-6400P 400Watt 1U (server) Power Supply.
It's brand new, never been used (well, 15 minutes). This is a Server PSU and they do not care about sound, but when I put it on my desktop, the fans were just too loud (my computer sits...
I need a low-profile/slim solution for my Audio. I have seen the Live! 7.1 (24bit) and the Maya 5.1 Mk2 (18bit) on the low end. There is also Prodigy 7.1 LT, which is a higher end solution and thus more expensive. The maya is about $15 more than the Live even though it is just 5.1 and not 7.1...
Hi all,
I would like to pick up a copy of the 'old' Heroes of Might and Magic IV.
I am too lazy to download it from the internet and having a manual would be nice.
If interested, I have Prince of Persia: Sands of time and Splinter Cell: Pandora. Good yet old-ish titles that came with...
This could be an interesting question for anyone that has an SFF (shuttle or otherwise):
Other than the recomendations in the sticky thread regarding good PSU brands, are there any other recomendations on what to look for when getting a 1U PSU?
Keep in mind that SFF computers generally...
Hi all,
I've seen plenty of Video Card guides and lists based on graphics performance (well, duh!), but since I have an SFF-sized computer, with a small, 1-U sized PSU (300 watts) and a bit of a heat issue, I would like to see the current cards on the marked rated on power...
I have a 1U 300W (Skyhawk?) power supply. I noticed that it has two small holes with mini-screws inside the case, I suppose these screws are just potentiometers and you can adjust the output voltage/current. But This is just a guess, does anybody know?
Can someone tell me how to adjust these...
I have an old miliamp-meter that I would like to interface with the computer (serial port most likely)
Does anyone know where I can find information on this?
Hi, I am making a new SFF computer that can barely fit a Mini-ATX.
I dug arround the web and there seems to be very little to choose from, which seems odd with SFFs being so popular lately.
I wanted a 939 mobo but could only find a 754 in the mini-ATX size. Does anyone have any info on...
Hi all,
I was browsing the thrift store the other day when I saw this baby, it screamed "MOD ME!!" as soon as I saw it. (the pic is bad quality, but you get the idea)
It is a Hewlett-Packard Amp-meter the case is olive-green steel (?) with lots of vents. I will try to get a better...
