Quick Paint job... and let it sit overnight... err... over early morning..
and we will see what we have when we wake up tomorow ;)
b.jpg

wow, that turned out AWSOME. Can't wait to see what you do next to 1 up it. you could have the worst components in the world and we'd still drool.

Agreed, that signage turned out GREAT!

Nice effect! Gonna have to chip up that nice Camo paint job to match the "wear" of the signage, IMO.

Ok. Time for todays Update. It is a good year already. was 65 outside...

So what does a handsome nerd like me do for the warm sunny day on
an East Coast Winter?

Go to the beach? naw...
Go cruise... hmm. nope...
Look for pretty girls?! thats a negative (besides, my fiance would kill me ;))

So. what did i do? I painted, of course ;)

But first, here is some more glowey goodness for you...

7.jpg

Other side of the case...
8.jpg

Paint by numbers again...
9.jpg

I am getting tired of xacto knives ;)
11.jpg

I could almost pass as a street tagger, maybe after my next case..
12.jpg

While I wait for the paint to try.. time to tackle the tray..
13.jpg

To get anything done on it (the right way) I drill out all the rivets..
14.jpg

Sand down everything...
15.jpg

Break time... Mmmm. Got Milk?
16.jpg

Little paint to go on the back of the case (flat black for that
stealthy look)
17.jpg

I did say it was a painting day, didnt I?
18.jpg

Drat... I knew I forgot to sand *something*
19.jpg

Sanding it all down to the bare metal (again)
20.jpg

I dont know why it came out like this in the picture, but it is
all black, I swear...
21.jpg

After a quick trip to walmart (drill bits, painters tape, spray paint..)
Back to paint by numbers, I wont bore you with all the details (again)
22.jpg

Clear Coat and Assembled Teaser shot. you like?
23.jpg

Little different.. but it looks better in the end you will see ;)
24.jpg

Oooh.
25.jpg

You can almost not even see them....
26.jpg

Teaser
27.jpg

Another Teaser!
28.jpg

The flat black is hard to see, but it comes out nice in person,
like a "mini" powdercoat..
29.jpg

Plexi mounted on the back plate and glowey fan..
30.jpg

Putting it all back together (one part is finally done! yay)
31.jpg

ABIT-NF7-SG2 =-)
32.jpg

Of course, the best part of making a computer is playing hide
and seek with everything...
33.jpg

PCI.. and another word that starts with P and ends with an N "or" not..
34.jpg

35.jpg

Little more of that glowey stuff...
36.jpg

Ass shot..
37.jpg

Using discs and the carbide bit i finished off the opening.. but
i have to say this is the first time i saw a disc do this...
5.jpg

must have not been using them long than cuz those shitty ones do it all the time, get the fiberglass ones. theyre a bit more expensive but they last like 10x longer than those dust ones.

anyways, looks nice :)

I'm 56K, so that only shows my dedication to admireing your work. I just got an Idea while looking at your stuff. It's not related BTW, I actually think it would be original. I'm just poor and unskilled. I'll just tuck it away somewhere. Looks like you're coming together nicely, I'm in love with glowy stuff.

Alas, I am at work today so no modding until tonight!

But thats ok... as for them discs. I did buy some fiberglass ones at one time, but
I wasnt pleased with the quality (they do last longer) but they are so much thicker it
is hard to get the clean cuts that i like ;)

WalMart sells the fiberglass ones in a cutting-kit for like $9.95. It includes like 50 of the smaller ones, 4 reinforced (large versions of the smaller ones), and 4 fiberglass. It beats payin $5 for just a tube (kit comes with two) of small cutters or for 5 fiberglass ones. :)

Lookin very good so far!

You've done a great job with this case so far. I was considering doing a winter camo paint job on my project, but you just made up my mind for me. Keep up the good work!

im really enjoying watching your worklog.

i like watching worklogs where the users actually post well, and you do a great job at building up your mod.

looks great bro, been a good follow so far.

Thank you for all the positive comments guys n gals :)

... time for the update ;)

Remeber that WWII Chemical Warfare Agents Chart?

Reborn... on Vellum Paper!

(NOTE! : I will have to add the second white CCFL later down the
road on the bottom to give it that balanced lighting look, however
first I have to re-wire it as the current wires just aint long enough )
Soo.. have no fear, sit back. and enjoy

1.jpg

2.jpg

Glued in the other window on the MB Door side 12-24 hours till
that sets, used Liquid Nails Sealent "Clear Seal"

3.jpg

Even though I have lights on in the back you can tell that I will
be able to have BOTH the white CCFL and the UV CCFL on at the
same time (my intended goal)
4.jpg

5.jpg

Yes. More glowy stuff to keep you hooked...

I will still have to make a special holder out of plexi for this side. but
in the near future these small vials will be upgraded to the ones you
saw earlier (the massive ones ;)) This is just a teaser, but these ones
will be used around later on...

I really like how you have brought all of your theme elements together. Very tight. The glowy stuff is great, especially in how it applies to the "Dangerous contents" idea. I can't think of anything more you need. Well done.

AMAZING, this really is one of my favs on here....normally i think the bio sign is overused but man you have renewed my faith i love it...so cool. great ideas that you have come togehter here...pat yourself on the back, job well done!

OOO Painting by numbers, I remember them thar days, It was fun :D

Dude, ya bring back them thar days working at Fedex and having to learn all the Bio Harzard Stuff and Hazardass Material Training :p

Looks mighty good Keepa modding

Dre

Well I may have some updates this weekend :)

Fiance is getting back into town tonight... so we will see ;)

I did get my UV LED's from 123Leds (very fast and low price!)
Now to quality test and install them later on...

I still have alot of work to do on this case, Hopefully i will be
done painting this weekend and then the only thing that will
be left is alot of touchups and mini projects to make it look
better (inside and out) along with preform better etc etc

Well. I did alot of work this weekend... took alot of pictures.. but i cant post any of them.

Because... the wire... i got from ratshak... well... it caught on fire

Its all rated like its supposed to be, did not do anything out of the ordinary.. so
until I find some better wire (non ratshack...) I have to tear down all the work
I did this weekend.. so.. no point in posting the pics :p

Hmm. I guess my post died :( not good enough to generate comments between
real life commitments! oh well mini update time.. its been too damn cold to try and
do any painting, and having a woman around the apt makes it hard to use loud
manly powertools.. drat the luck.. but i will be off on thursday and have time to
do some real modding work...

Off ebay i got 2 of these CoolerMaster CoolDrive2 HDD 5 1/4 bay hdd cooler/silencer
according to all the reviews the fans are great and not as noisy as OTHER 40's

however. I know now why they were being sold on ebay. they are loud. even if I was
not a modder.. i would still hate them. besides which the front looks stupid on them..

thankfully the bay covers work around and over them, so I will have to decide on
a look for them to allow air into the (currently) noisy fan... which will later on be
taken down to 5v, not as much air will get pushed, but more then there was...
and it *should* be much quieter... Plus this frees up the 3 1/2 bay so i removed
that so there is more *space* on the inside of the case for glowy things hinted
at before...

1.jpg

2.jpg

When I first did some of the wiring...
3.jpg

Later on after I wired all the UV LED's and the nice electrical fire..
4.jpg

That is one ugly front on that cooldrive. too bad about the electrical fire. :( what started it?

WoW dude, hope nothing else burned, But you know maybe you can save that burnt wire and use as part of the Theme, ya know how Chemical Warfare IE:Toxic just distroys everthing, Just a thought?

PS: I have been keeping an eye on your work log, And Ummm you have one those fancy new wigets called a woman? :p :D Keep up the work.

Dre

LoL. yea i have one of them. for about 5 years... and in about 5 months i get to
keep her forever ;) lol they are nice to have around but they get very cranky with
modding at times "walk the dog... pay attention to me" ;)

Well I guess if you want some Nooky now and then, then yeah, ya have to do a few things, i mean walk the dog , I remember the days of having to walk her err the dog i mean  , and umm get ear muffs for when ya doing all the manly modding stuff.

Dre

love the glowy stuff...paint job is very very nice as well....keep up the great work~!~!

Ok. so no posts for a long time. real life sucks! :p

all joking aside, one of the main reasons I havent done work lately is trying to figure
out these drive covers for the CoolDrives

There is the fan that needs airflow, and I am trying to think of some type of cut i can
do to keep it looking both "stealthed" and fit the theme of the mod

just dont know what yet. any ideas? talk to me people!

Just picked up on this thread, and have to say that I love how its turning out. I for one was kinda getting tired of BRIGHT GREEN GLOWY BLAH! (capitalized to emphasize the glaringness of the mods). I was kinda suspicious when I read the thread title, but I kept reading, and I must say, amazing stuff. I never would have thought that winter camo would be so fitting for a chemical/biohazard theme case. Keep up the good work, this is definitely one that I am going to watch!

well, I have to say you're skilled and you have the determination(or sumtin like that), I didn't like the mod, but still good work :)
