I hope you all like your iPhone and it's not a pos. Hopefully it will last for over 3 years. I rec. everyone get a extended damage warranty. Seems like it very easy to drop when you're drunk or whatever.
how's the battery life? I listen to a lot of music and not just the 5 min songs.. i'm talking about 2 hour trance sets which consumes more power. Like realistically (and i'm not talking about turning off various functions like apple did for their tests) how much can you listen/watch movies and talk? is it going to last me a full day or will I have to charge at my desk every 5 hours?
Well from what I understand, they left out 3g support so you can only use the internet where there is wifi. So no point in Teathering it unless your laptop or computer doesn't have wireless... Would that even work though?
I don't understand where you're getting 300MB from. Let's make the number left over a nice round 7.25GB, that means there's 3/4GB taken up. If you round a GB to 1,000MB, then 3/4 of that is 750MB. I know I've done some rounding, but I don't see how the number used is anywhere near 300MB used (even though 700+MB seems huge for this device)
Well, the iPhone is technically 8GiB (8,000,000,000 bytes) formatted is about 7.65GB (where 1GB = 1,024,000,000 bytes). Minus the 7.24 after fresh install leaves you 410 MB for the OS on that phone.
hth
no, it has internet support through edge - the whole point of the device is internet on the go!
although let's be realistic.... edge maybe on the "go" but like a turtle is on the "go". I hope v2 has a choice to go 3G with java etc.
Has everyone/anyone noticed that the EDGE network is really slow? Does anyone think that this will be changed somehow through the firmware?
No doubt the Apple Cultists will flame me for saying it like it is but it's about time somebody did.

Hey, before you go and buy that iphone, take a look at this website for a full rundown of the Mobile phone.
Quote: This has been the week from hell as far as iPhone hype goes. Over and over and over, we've all been subjected to more and more iPhone blather. Enough already! It's time to cut this stupid phone down to size, once and for all! And mark my words, that's all it is...a stupid phone! It is not a cure for cancer, it will not bring peace to the world, it will not feed the hungry or provide homes to the homeless. It's a freaking phone and it's high time somebody drew a line in the sand and said: Thus far and no farther with the iBlather!

Actually, the more I think about it, I bet I know why they didn't include A2DP or UMTS/3G...battery life. Both put a dent in a mobile's charge, and you can bet if people had either or both, they'd be using both and then be looking at a dead iPhone in a matter of hours, and be burning through those 300 charge cycles before you knew it.

And here's the number one reason why you shouldn't even consider buying an iPhone:
1. I'll Get to the Apple Store Ahead of You
If you've read this far then you've finally discovered the *real* reason I wrote this column.
You see, I'm out to dissuade as many people as possible from buying an iPhone so that I have less competition on Friday when I go to get mine. Yep, this entire column is nothing more than a self-serving ruse at giving myself the best chance possible to snag an iPhone on opening day.
...But I think it's more to do with AT&T being laggard with deploying HSDPA. Hopefully, Apple will kick them in the butt to get this done but unfortunately I think moving from EDGE to HSDPA will require a new phone.

this probably had quite a bit to do with it. One slight "correction," IMO, it was more cingular that failed to develop and deploy 3g networks nationwide, and before they acquired attws a couple years ago, they also had minimal edge coverage. So what I'm trying to say here is that the "new at&t" can thank the attws of yore that they even had a decent edge network for the iphone to operate on and hopefully now that cingular is under new ownership, they will begin to pursue more next gen tech.
im in seattle too
