Join the Alliance -- the Socket 939 Alliance!

Please allow me to join this Alliance. As you can see in my sig, it's 939ville at my house. Now what should I do with my fx57?

Opteron 170 (crappy stepping, "only" 2.6GHz when I was hearing about 2.8, 2.9 and 3.0 in some cases...boo!) is running my main rig right now, it's too bad that AMD put this socket out to pasture. I was hoping to be able to slot in at least one new CPU when I bought this thing...but no.

Better late to the party than never showing your face! :)

Add me in - Opteron 146 (CABGE - the cabbage) @ 2.55. Previous owner had it at 2.8, but I don't feel like pushing it too hard yet.

How about:

Main system: Opteron 170 @ 2.5Ghz
Wife's system: Opteron 146
Home Server: 3700+ San Diego

Does that count?

And, yes, I realize the irony of running two server chips in my everyday PCs, and a retail CPU in my server. ;)

Latest :

just got the 4000+ couple weeks ago from Newegg, it replaced a 3200+ Winnie that did 2400 @1.45. But even at stock the 4000+ is faster, and it does 3ghz with the cooler (copper Antec job from BB) from the 3200+.

It idles at 31C (88F) in a 70F room, at full load maxes around 44C.

The IHS was concave when I got it. It idled at 40C ! The edges of the IHS actually gouged a visible line on the copper surface of the heatsink. By the time I finished lapping it I had gone through all the markings on the chip- had to take most of the nickel off to get it flat.
Cool now, although I keep wondering what removing the IHS would do to the temps....

i got a an update on my system

went from

3500+ @2.5 then it was opty 144 @ 2.7 and now finally at 4400+ @2.2 (stock)

oh and i like my new t-shirt. Thanks AMD/[H], long live the 939!!!

I got my rig up and running. Pretty pleased with it. Only problem is that I have to learn how to OC this baby and that my ram is running at 200mhz instead of the rated 250. But that's a mobo problem that I must fix somehow.
