Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

I have dual 2001fp's and one 2005fp and they are most bang for the buck.... period... The price I paid for all three I could probably only get one hp 2335...

Whoa been a while since I was on here... anyways heres mine. Got it here in the UK for £399 ex. VAT :D

My room is INCREDIBLY small. I mean it is stupidly small, but I will be moving into the biggest room (after the attic) around summer. That means i cannot get a jerker desk for now, or any other good computer desk :(

Talking about Ikea, one opened virtually around the corner. I mean, I could take a 10 minute single bus ride there, or a 30 min walk. Ikea Edmonton, in the UK - at the opening someone got stabbed lol, typical.

Hey .Unreal:

Nice setup. How's that phone? I just got one. Should be here tomorrow hopefully. Audiovox smt5600. C500 for you?

The moment you go to Imageshack there's a browse button to select the image you want to upload, you do, then you're taken to the next page with several options on accessing and linking the file in forums and such, like the thumbnail way.

http://imageshack.us/

No software dls needed.

I just use http://uploadit.org/ with the $10 a year subscription. Works well, easy to use, they just added a folder system too.

Thank you. I just try it and works quite nicely. I appreciate your info.
But I am curious as to how imageshack.us make money. I just don't see how can they make money to host all those pic.

Sure, that thick-looking wire is actually hollow. You can snake 8-10 cables through it to eliminate the South American rainforest of cables behind your desk. You can buy these things at Wal-Mart, Container Store, Best Buy, etc.

1) First of all, I have a serious "rainforest" problem. But I have my concern over "electron drift" issue and cable overheat problem.

2) I now use a no. of transparent rubber hoses (the ones for water from Home Depot), to insert a few cables at a time on my komputer. The rubber hose is solely for the reason to protect my rabbit from bitting the cables.

But my problem w/ the hose is if the cable head is really wide, I have no choice but to buy Very Wide rubber hose, like several inches in diameter. For eg., I have an old Magneto Optical that use SCSI 2, and the connector is about 3 in. wide.

So having said that, what is the name of that black hose you buy if I were at Walmart, and how did you manage to squeeze all those cables in such a small hose diameter when all those cables have reasonably small to med. size connector on both ends of each cable?

Good price! Oh, and I can say this, only being an ex-pat Brit myself, that is SUCH english wallpaper :D I think every guy in the UK has had that under layers of footy posters at one time or another :)

Scheizekopf:
Yea it's the Audiovox SMT5600 - but my one's the Orange C500, as you can tell from the small little Orange logo on it. Well Brit people can tell anyhow. It's an incredible phone - i advise you to register on the www.modaco.net forums, which is the central palace for Windows Smartphone goodies.

For example I have Beta Player, which is amazing. Create playlists, rotate the screen, and so much more. It plays DivX format files, so you can encode a DVD to DivX (I also got that, you can get a large variety of freeware tools) and store it on the memory card of the phone. Specialist Smartphone encoders can resize it to the size of your screen to keep quality high and filesize down. Theres just too much I can say about this, but im trying to avoid going off topic :p [too late!]

mutazx:
You talking about my physical wallpaper? HAHA It was there when we moved in, and my parents are telling me to wait to redecorate, since they want to do it when the whole house is being renovated   . And I have fallen into that footy poster category lol *tries to avoid being typical*

Also i breifly got dual view LCD's now that the replacement has arrived. Rev A01 February 2005 - leakage is far milder, but its still there. However I will stick to this one since it seems to be hardly noticable at all.

P.S - I moved the comp downstairs because my wireless card broke, and my room is too far to wire to the router.

just have to make sure i assasinate the delivery courier guy when he comes to collect it :D

Yep, the physical wallpaper :D

well i like to graffiti and vandilise it to let out my rage on its crappy styling, if you saw the other side of the room you would notice :) unfortunately the camera does not have an eye (essentially a lens) of the back of its 'head' unlike my mum apparently does.

Thanks Unreal. I should be receiving the phone today. I've been doing a lot of research. That's how I knew it was the C500 for you instead of the smt5600 for me.

I really should spend some time and clean this up a bit.... but o well....here's mine

Thanks Alt ... my desktops aren't that bright as shown in the 2nd pic. I screwed a setting in my new camera and haven't figured out which one i accidently tweaked :p .... The 1st pic is more realistic.

1) For those of you who rotate the LCD vertically, what kind of application do you find it useful? I mean, imagine if you have a 30", which would make a screen 27" tall, just over 2 ft., and I don't know if a sitting position on a chair, having a screen sitting on a table, and your neck can turn so high to see it, it would be too tall, you have to stand up if you are looking at a graph.

2) I went to ThemeXP but didn't download yet. It is just screensavers, which seems to be what they have, or it is also MS Theme, which alters your icons, mouse pointers, sound for all actions of your mouse, etc. If so, any MS Theme you recommend for download?

I keep my 15" vertical most of the time, and I use it for a number of apps. I like it best for doing papers in word (I'm an english major, so I wirte a lot of very long term papers), being able to see all of a page helps me a lot. It's also handy for reading articles and websites--I use a lot of online journals for my research, so it's really handy to take things a literal page at a time. It's also very useful for text editing, which I do a ton of. It also makes people jealous, and isn't that why we do all this stuff anyway?

Here's mine. :)

What's the screen resolution of your big Apple LCD?

The Apple 30 has a resolution of 2560x1600. I posted this illustration a while ago showing how a 5120x2048 desktop would look on different monitors:

you have the smallest PC type powering the biggest monitor available.

Martin:

Can the Apple rotate vertical?

What's your take on the Seagate? I have 3 Seagate (1 SATA and 2 SCSI Ultra 320), but I didn't ask for it, because compaq computer only bundles w/ seagate. It is noisy. My old Fujistu is much better. It is noisy in a way that each second, you can hear sound generated due to writing of the drive.

Nope, it doesn't rotate.

I'm very pleased with the Seagate drives, they're PATA though. They're very quiet. I have 2 SATA Seagates in my other computer and they're very noisy, so the reason they're noisy could be that they're SATA I guess.

I don't know if any card can do 5120x3200, afaik it's just an illustration of what it would look like.

just got my second 2001fp. yep, I've joined the upper echelon of LCD real estate. not quite the IBM T221's but affordable!

Heh i joined the dual-LCD club now, after deciding to invest in another ;) ;) i will take some pics once i get the digital cam again
