FPS = Frames Per Second ~or~ First Person Shooter
AMA = American Medical Association ~or~ American Motorcycle Association
WWF = World Wrestling Federation ~or~ World Wildlife Fund
GROW UP AND GET OVER IT ALREADY...!!!
AM2+ is not forward compatable and will not fit in an
AM3 socket...
AM2+ has 940 pins and AM3 has 938 pins... On an AM3
socket the holes are blocked where the 2 extra pins of the
AM2+ would go...
As far as PII is concerned, people need to get over it... It's
no different than nVIDIA...
Some may, some may not...
Engineering samples can be just about anything as they are made
for testing... Many times they may even fall short of the performance
of the retail poduct...
With an ES anything can happen depending on what it was
made to test... ;)
It shows AM2+ because it is an AM2+...
That chip has an unlocked multi... There are no unlocked multi's
schedualed for AM3 (only the AM2+ 940) with the exception of
the X3 720 (Tricore)... The roadmap only goes to the 3rd Qtr
though so there may be some after that, or AMD may add chips
to...

That means AM3 945 will launch sometime in April, May or June...
AM2+ 940 should launch by Jan. 8th 2009...
The OP claims to have an AM3 945...
I want to see pic's... ;)
How 'bout you just post all the info you read on the
top of that chip in this forum...?
Or better yet, post a clear pic... ;)
Curious... Why would someone unfamiliar with recent
AMD tech be given an "Unreleased" chip in the first place...?
Well, I can't speek for others but this is what I'm running...
Foxconn A7DA-S

And a BIOS for AM3 support has just been released...
Agreed...
OCW quite often has boards for review earlier than others
but they aren't as intensive in their testing methods as many
would like...
Usually, they concentrate on features and general operation
of the hardware with some O'clocking...
No real difference between them IMO... Depends on how many
G'cards you want to run...
The important thing is the SB750...
Early 790FX boards have SB600 and that doesn't give you any
advantage from ACC as the SB750 does... ;)
AMD describes the "Dragon" platform as being a Phenom II processor,
a 790GX/SB750 MB and one or more descrete 4000 series graphics
cards...
I believe they have something in store using the GX NB that they haven't
mentioned as yet... ;)
(Maybe something in conjunction with this...?)...
