BE-2400 deals were better. I wish they still had those up.
The BE-2400 was $25, $31.99 and $30 in previous deals: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1343323 http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1353845 http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1336203were they $30 shipped as well ?
Lower speed = lower power + dual core = fast for a lot of simple applications.
That + cheap motherboard beats the crap out of an atom/via solution.
You guys think the 2300 or the 2350 would playback 1080p x264 encodes or Blu-ray/HD-DVD discs ok?
My x2 5200+ is running way to hot and I was thinking that maybe these run a bit cooler.
if you can't off-load to a gpu or igp, then you may want to step upto the 5050e.
Only if you can offload the processing to the GPU, say a 8400GS or above graphics card.
The generally accepted required GHZ rating that I found for 1080p video processing without stutter on a home theatre PC without video card assistance was pretty much said to be 2.2 - 2.4Ghz.
That being said - these chips do run cool - at idle they don't even generate enough heat to feel heat from the heatsink. My BE-2400 powered HP slimline with a 500GB drive and a 8400GS only draws .3 amp at 120volt when idling according to my Monster Power HTS line conditoner.
