I have not tried overclocking .... I also still left all of the timings on "Auto" in the BIOS.. all I changed was the setting from Auto to DDR400. It is running in dual channel mode.
Yeah. I tried uninstalling the nVidia drivers first (ran Drivercleaner in safe mode too) then I updated the BIOS... same problem. Pretty weird... I hope the release 1005 doesn't do this!
Not really true... Someone posted a link to the Asus knowledge base in a thread I started about this issue... it stated that if you use the Asus-tested memory on the A8N-SLI you can set it to DDR400 in the BIOS (it will automatically downgrade to DDR333 when you have 4 512mb sticks in) and it...
Well I wonder why I have a problem on my system? I tried with all USB devices unplugged and the problem persists... I've tried multiple versions of the nVidia drivers and if I have any nVidia driver installed and the 1005.003 BIOS installed, Windows refuses to start (no error message) ... If I...
Just a warning.. the 1005.003 beta BIOS on Asus's web site is seriously messed up... with 1005.003 installed, if I have any nVidia driver installed, the computer doesn't get past the loading windows splash screen ... remove the nVidia driver (in safe mode) and it boots... install a driver, won't...
I posted another thread about this here...
Someone responded with a link to the Asus knowledgebase that had something about this issue for the A8N-SLI. As long as you are using "approved" modules on Asus's list, you can manually set the speed in the BIOS... I did this, and it works fine, on...
I'm using the Thermaltake Silenttower... it's huge, but its quiet and seems to be working well.. even after heavy usage, the CPU temp has yet to rise over 44 C
In the FX-55 system I just built, the CPU temperature (according to 'Asus Probe') is pretty much at 42 C all the time. Is this normal? Is that an "OK" temp? I haven't had an AMD CPU in a while, so I'm a bit out of touch with the norms (last time I had an AMD CPU, they were HOT all the time!)
Yup - I did it and it works.
I had tried it with the beta 1003.005 BIOS installed before, and my system freaked out and wouldn't boot.. but with the "final" 1003, it seems to be fine.
Thanks for the link! :)
I have an Athlon FX-55, an A8N-SLI Deluxe, and four 512MB sticks of Kingston DDR400 PC3200 RAM.
If I put in two of the sticks, it shows "DDR400" when I boot... all four sticks, and it shows "DDR333".
I bought the memory that is listed in the manual as being able to run in all four...
