I would lower the resolution to get a locked-solid frame rate but I haven't noticed any stutter and I have a 2001fp, so 1600x1200 is the only way to go :p

To answer the actual question: 1600x1200 with everything maxed out. 8xani 2xanti. Or you could just go with the settings that have * on them (recommended) but that will be the same as above.

I had this problem and it was a result of an improper installation of the CPU/Heatsink. I would just redo that and see if it works. The other option is that your drivers are screwed up and do a clean install.

I have the 2001fp too and I game at 1600x1200 high everything all the time in any game and don't notice fps dropping to anywhere near problematic. I think a 6800GT would do you nice.

The heatsink was put on right, but maybe I did use too much AS5. The real question though is why did everything work for as long as it did at the temps that it did when things were goofy? That is what perplexes me. I think that undoubtably I erred on the AS5 treaments or heatsink...
