Ok so I have the system listed in my sig. with 2 SATA hard drives hooked up to the Intel ports, and 2 optical drives hooked up to the Gigabyte (JMicron) IDE port. I have read about all sorts of different problems with this JMicron port, so I'm not surprised that I have one of my own now.
I...
So I got my cooler in...
Weird stuff, good, but weird. I got the temps down 10C to around 60C during testing at default speeds. So at first I was worried that it wasn't going to help much, but I tried to clock it up to 3.2 just to see what happens. Right now I'm stressing at 61C.
So right...
Right now the case is open since I've been messing around with it.
I should have that heatsink by Monday, so I'll post to let you know... but I really do think its just the stock one causing this. If my chip was bad I would think it wouldn't post at 3.2 so easily.
I know its been posted here a lot, but I got a few questions about my temps.
I have the stock heatsink on there right now, but I have an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro on order. TAT reports my cores at around 67-69c each under full load at stock speeds. This seems very high even for that crap...
Ok, I got it to boot consistantly by using the "hold the power switch while you power up the power supply" trick. This makes me think that these motherboards have a serious power regulation problem. If a quality 480 power supply has problems booting this board up now and then without "shocking"...
OK... I'm trying to troubleshoot my brothers computer here. The motherboard is a EPOX EP-9NDA3J with an Athlon 64 3000+. On powering up the board with only bare components (CPU, memory, video card) the board posts fine. After shutting the power off and trying to power it up again, the board...
I have to agree on the Quake 2 front... best game ever. Me and my friend were in high school at the time, so plenty of time to play it. I think one summer I used to play like 2-3 hours a day. Just good old deathmatch!
Hate to say it but that sounds like a dead card :(
Since you replaced the heatsink, then the warrenty is void, so I would suggest making it into a swank keychain and getting yourself a new 9800 or 6800nu.
Sorry again man, that sucks hard!
