    Gigabyte 965P-S3 IDE problem

Ok so I have the system listed in my sig. with 2 SATA hard drives hooked up to the Intel ports, and 2 optical drives hooked up to the Gigabyte (JMicron) IDE port. I have read about all sorts of different problems with this JMicron port, so I'm not surprised that I have one of my own now. I...

    e6400 temp question

So I got my cooler in... Weird stuff, good, but weird. I got the temps down 10C to around 60C during testing at default speeds. So at first I was worried that it wasn't going to help much, but I tried to clock it up to 3.2 just to see what happens. Right now I'm stressing at 61C. So right...

    e6400 temp question

Right now the case is open since I've been messing around with it. I should have that heatsink by Monday, so I'll post to let you know... but I really do think its just the stock one causing this. If my chip was bad I would think it wouldn't post at 3.2 so easily.

    e6400 temp question

I know its been posted here a lot, but I got a few questions about my temps. I have the stock heatsink on there right now, but I have an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro on order. TAT reports my cores at around 67-69c each under full load at stock speeds. This seems very high even for that crap...

    Motherboard only boots first time

Ok, I got it to boot consistantly by using the "hold the power switch while you power up the power supply" trick. This makes me think that these motherboards have a serious power regulation problem. If a quality 480 power supply has problems booting this board up now and then without "shocking"...

    Motherboard only boots first time

OK... I'm trying to troubleshoot my brothers computer here. The motherboard is a EPOX EP-9NDA3J with an Athlon 64 3000+. On powering up the board with only bare components (CPU, memory, video card) the board posts fine. After shutting the power off and trying to power it up again, the board...

Broke out Quake I last night.

I have to agree on the Quake 2 front... best game ever. Me and my friend were in high school at the time, so plenty of time to play it. I think one summer I used to play like 2-3 hours a day. Just good old deathmatch!

Did I just fry my Radeon 9700 Pro -- Please help me!

Hate to say it but that sounds like a dead card :( Since you replaced the heatsink, then the warrenty is void, so I would suggest making it into a swank keychain and getting yourself a new 9800 or 6800nu. Sorry again man, that sucks hard!

    Post your 6800 GT OC!

I would run it longer than that to see what your temp is. I would say at least 15mins or so if not more like 30.

    Hot Opterons!

At this point I would guess that the mobo is reading temps wrong. That just isn't right. I would try some motherboard forums out there and see if anyone knows.

    Doom 3: id vs. Creative

Basically Creative got a patent on some shadowing techniques in 1999. The fact that they were able to patent a technique is questionable but none the less they have it now. Than about a year ago Carmack came out and said he would be using said technology in Doom 3, not knowing that Creative...

    Doom 3: id vs. Creative

EAX is only in games before because there wasn't evough processing power to do all the stuff Carmack wanted to do. A while back Carmack posted as to why EAX wouldn't be in the game, and he said it was because now his method allows him to do what he wants with the sound, not just add crappy...

    Doom 3: id vs. Creative

Regardless of what they are trying to do, they are exploiting a company that helps keep them in buisness, meaning people who buy games also buy their hardware. On top of that they are laying claim to ideas. This is no invention, its a technique of programming. Getting a pantent on this is like...

    Post your 6800 GT OC!

If it works at 392 then it works. The autodetect is known to be bit flaky, sometimes giving huge numbers (600/1400 I saw once :D ) and other times give low numbers (150, 500). So just go with what works

I use to think I was unlucky...

    Fan siezed on video card?!??

Fans don't last forever. My old back up system had its CPU fan die, while my good old Geforce 2 fan died just recently too. Oil may fix it, but the ball bearings in fans do give out after awile. So its expected

    Next gen... pci-e or agp?

Via is making a chipset I think is for the A64 that has both PCIe and AGP on the board. And its not one of the hacks where the AGP is hooked up to the PCI bus.

Creative Blackmails id Software over Z-Fail Shadows

I haven't bought a Creative product in years... I think the last was the Live Value in 1999. This is just one more reason why I hate that company. They think they own the world, never add any new interesting features (read DD encoding), have horible shit drivers, and now are trying and succeding...

Know if a SATA dual layer is coming out?

Does anyone know if a SATA dual layer burner is coming out? I want to wait to get a dual layer for when one comes to SATA. That way I won't have to trash it anytime soon. I know Plextor would probaly be first, but if anyone knows if a Lite-On is coming would be great!

Are timings as important to the A64 as the were to the AXP?

The pipeline is deep than that of the the AXP but nowhere near as long as the P4. I have 2-2-2-5 timings and get great performance out of it. But I find that the A64 likes a happy medium of good timings and speed. Its not one extreme or the other. I can't overclock much because my board...

    Problems with PNY 6800GT

Installing new 6800 GT from other Vid Card (ATI)

Installing new 6800 GT from other Vid Card (ATI)

The best way is to reformat. If you don't want to do that I would uninstall the ATI drivers however you like (driver clearner or just ATI uninstall) and reboot. When you get to the desktop go ahead and shut down. This is just to be sure that the drivers are really gone. Then install the nVidia...

    Post your 6800 GT OC!

Well I would say your still fine. CCFL and HD don't pull too much power, I would say no more than 50W. The fans may be a bit of a draw, but even with the highest power fans I would say no more than 100W. Adding up the rest of what you have I would still say your well within the limit of that...

    Post your 6800 GT OC!

I would say you should be fine. There is no reason for this except for nVidia playing it safe. Having a small load on the same molex line as your video card shouldn't do anything. Remember that most power supplies have only one 12v rail. So no matter where that power goes, be it down one...

    Overclocking the 6800GT

If you want to test an overclock, try the HDR demo. This should give you a good idea of how high of an overclock you can get with your card since it stresses it so much. Granted, maybe when Doom3 comes out you may have to back it down a bit, but no more than a few MHz See my sig for my...

    X800 in a SFF

I don't think presure is a thing to worry about. We're only talking about a small amount of air in that case. You would need some big fans to build up presure like that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong since I don't have a SFF
