Yeah my number one peeve with blu-rays is the need to deal with menus. Why they won't allow you to play the movie from the menu by pressing the play button on the remote will never make sense to me.
I have spent far too much money and more importantly dealt with too much frustration over the years using an HTPC to watch blu-ray. Looking back I should have invested in a standalone player and an HD audio decoder from the start. The frustration and wasted time has been bad enough... but...
I love physical media for the way you sort and display a collection, and then browse through it at a glance with a little bit of randomness. I read somewhere recently that "looking for a movie on Netflix descends into an existential crisis" and I'd agree. I can almost never pick something to...
Putting unskippable marketing on almost every disc is not helping the cause. Nothing irks me like putting in a disc I bought five years ago and being forced to sit through a trailer for Wolverine Origins.
I love blu-ray. HD streaming is not good enough and often has frames dropped out on top...
They announce right off the bat that you're going to be shooting at things that aren't ALIENS? This is the first time I can say I am not interested in an ALIENS game on PC. The generic shooting against stock human-shaped pop-up targets is what made me stop playing A:CM.
It's just the music missing. Sound is fine. I'm playing through the game again using Oculus Rift VR headset. The lack of music jumped out at me during the riverboat sequence, since the moment when the music kicked in during that sequence is one of my favourite gaming moments of all time.
I am not getting music when I play HL2. Playing through it again on Oculus. It's incredible. But I'd like to hear the music. Audio sliders definitely turned up. Any ideas?
Does anyone know if BF4 conflicts with overclocking through the combo of ASUS SmartDoctor with ASUS GamerOSD? I had to remove GamerOSD back when BF3 came out because it caused stuttering and instability.
Beg to differ. The COD single player campaigns were a ton of fun up until Black Ops where half the game is quicktime events. . Modern Warfare I and II are some of the best single-player experiences I've ever had. Especially the first Modern Warfare from 2007. Sometimes I just want to walk...
Up until Black Ops I bought every single COD game and played only the single player campaign. Haven't played a decent single player FPS in a couple years.
Was impressed with how easy it was to get in the beta. I like the Shanghai map a lot. I'm getting surprisingly good performance out of my 2600K + GTX580 rig @2560x1600. So I'll probably buy the game.
I guess if that's the case, since my distance from each speaker is basically the same, I should be okay as long as the Creative THX Console speaker distance setting is the same for each speaker.
I think that's backwards. Seems like it would make the signal quieter than it needs to be and you'd want to add the missing distance if anything. So if the max is 7.5 feet and my speakers are twelve feet I should tell the receiver the speakers are 16.5 feet. This is what I did by setting the...
Yeah, that's my concern. Although have to say everything is sounding pretty great to my ear after maxing the distance on the Windows settings and then tweaking the speaker DB bias levels on the receiver.
The reason for the problem is the Onkyo is more than ten years old and cannot take an HD...
I ordered one about a week ago. Not gonna come until the end of the month soonest as they're out of stock everywhere. Very excited to get my hands on it so that I can start doing the real graphics for the games I'm working on.
(this will serve as a bump if you're wondering my point)
The maximum distance in Creative's THX control panel set at something like 7 and half feet. This seems stupid to me. Is there any way to make this distance larger? Does this affect the sound when I'm using Dolby Digital Live? I assume it does since DDL's output seems to take on all control panel...
Bioshock Infinite is a lot of fun but the "possession" power makes the game pretty easy even on hard. I can't resist using it, but sometimes will replay a fight to see how it plays without the effortless kills from Possession.
Yes I'm fully on board. The Half-Life games are special... although I never finished HL1 back in the day. For some reason I just played the first half of the game over and over and never even saw the alien planet/dimension.
I hate myself for feeling encouraged about this. I'll have some time to play games Saturday night. If they've improved the graphics and AI so that the xenos at least feel threatening then the game might just be worth picking back up.
I replayed the first couple marine missions of AVP 2010 in DX11, after playing it in DX9 the first time. I'd say just the first few marine campaing missions of AVP 2010 are better than the whole of A:CM. Also, in DX11 it is really gorgeous to look at. Amazing that it's already three years old.
This game needs mist. We've had convincing mist/smoke in games since COD2 so what's up.
I think a full SDK release would be a good idea. I'd love to see an ACM: ALIENS mod where you play through the events of the movie.
I pre-ordered at full price (49.99) with a few hours left to go before release because I had no doubt it would be better than the 2010 game and even though that game was not perfect I sure as hell got my money's worth out of it. Turns out I was wrong and Gearbox's game makes Rebellion's game...
I'd like to know how many people have played the later Brothers in Arms games for PC. The more I play of A:CM the more it shows that the technology and practices are stuck in the era of BIA.
AVP 2010 looks like a work of genius compared to this piece of shit. I'll probably finish the Predator campaign from that game before ever going back to play Gearbox's crapfest agin. $50 down the toilet.
I'm about 75 minutes into it and I regret the early purchase. This is a game you want to pick up for $20 from a Steam sale, not preload and go to sleep early so you can wake up to play it at unlock time like I just did. What a waste of energy
First impression is I'm bored because this game has...
