Yes, a "no return" policy on a monitor would not work for me, although
I think you could work directly with Dell if Newegg shipped something
you didn't like. I was lucky, my HC is perfect.
You already know what the 3007 screen image is like, if you're only
going to be using the display...
My eyes are ~28" to 30" away from my 3007-HC, and I have no
trouble ready anything on Firefox. The images are very clear,
and even with my near 50yo eyes (with single correction glasses),
I've not had to increase font sizes.

Hi Malus72,
I got one of the 3007-HC's a couple of months ago, and with
it sitting under a fairly bright florescent lamp array, I have no problems with
the brightness of the screen - in fact, it's running around ~85% brightness
right now.
So far, I love this monitor. The...
Hi Convergent,
Virtualrain wasn't contradicting you specifically, he was just commenting that it wasn't
likely that the listed problems were directly associated with each rev. We have too
small a product sample to really come to any conclusions about what rev's may have
issues.
Good to...
Yeah, I don't know what's up with all the Rev's. I guess I'm lucky, as the Rev A00 I
got is (as far as I can tell) perfect - no noise, no dead/stuck pixels, no light bleed,
etc. Only thing I definately want is to get a color calibrator, as the reds and greens
are a little too strong, but...
I've been playing with mine a little, and even with very minor background sounds,
I hear nothing from either of my two new monitors (the HC, and a HP2065).
However, I haven't had the time to do a really thorough "adjustment sweep" to
see if there's any combination of settings that triggers...
Hi Kandor,
You may want to post this question to a Solidworks specific site, such as the
Usenet group "comp.cad.solidworks" (Google Groups will get you there), or
a email list like "SWcad" (again, search Google). You might also try the
Dell Support forum "http://www.dellcommunity.com/"...
You can get a lot of good info from this new review of the HP (and most will
hold for the 3007):
http://anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=2950
Basic stuff I'm sure you know - the need for a good, dual-link
graphics card (like Nvidia 7900/8800 series), limitations when
it comes to...
Hi,
If you're going to use the same monitor with a few different computers, get the HP,
but if it'll be hooked to just one box, you could get the Dell WFP-HC for ~$400 less,
and it's essentially identical except for having only one input port. Check out this
thread for purchase info (page 8...
Delighted! I'm glad I went directly to the SB phones, and didn't try ordering anything
through the regular Dell phone contacts - I doubt we would have wound up with so
many monitors going to happy buyers (well, most are happy ;) ).
We're almost done with our timesink, err - computer hutch...
Jose,
Sounds interesting - any chance you can post some screenshots or pics
of the screen, especially the 1080i? This is something a lot of people want
more info on - thanks!
CAMster
Damn - great price! Best of luck with your monitor.
I almost went with the 2007FP, but chickened out due to the lack
of S-IPS screen. Instead, I ordered a HP 2065, which is S-IPS, but
not the "High Color" of the 3007-HC. Not sure if there's any real reason
not to go with the 2007...
:D Glad to help! I'm still sort of bemused that I lucked into a
salesman with both a clue and a willingness to discount. Add
to that courtesy and follow-through, and I'm delighted to send
people Jonathan's way...
CAMster
P.S. Can't help with the taxes - just be glad you're not in NY, NY...
I checked this today - the 3007-HC is now the only 30" monitor listed on
the US website, and no 30" monitors at all are listed on the Outlet site.
CAMster
Hi all,
Well, it looks like the transition that's taken place elsewhere has happened
here - the older 3007 WFP is no more, and just the 3007WFP-HC is listed,
with a base price of $1699. Add the extra $99 for 3 year CC, and it comes to
$1798, so the price that most of us have paid (~$1,450...
Hi Lee,
While I'm not running Vista (and likely won't), I can't believe that there
aren't drivers out to run this monitor on Vista. If this is a concern before
placing an order, just call Jonathan or your salesperson, and get the
confirmation (one way or another).
CAMster
Hi Bob,
It's all revealed on page 8, the gent you seek is Jonathan Lucas, Dell Small
Business sales (anyone can call/email), his direct number is 615-795-8487, his toll-free
number is 800-357-3355, then 795-8487 for his extension. Email is [email protected].
He's based in...
Heh - Sorry, I've not been checking the thread lately! I have the big box
(the PWS 690) working again, but we're finishing the filtered enclosure
for the PWS and the old AMD dual-Athlon workstation, and when that's
done I can post a few pics of everything running. The rest of the place...
Hi ZZZ,
Bummer! There's been a few reports of the older 3007 making some noise, it's odd that
yours was quiet until the movie. You might try unplugging and trying a different outlet,
or running it off a UPS if you have one, to see if that changes anything. Did you do anything
else to...
Hi Cerebrex,
Do a Google search using these keywords: monitor mounting arms
You'll get a bunch of hits that should give you what you're looking for...
CAMster
Sounds good! That's about my story, except I had the older 3007 on the way
before finally deciding to go with the HC. I actually met the UPS driver before
he got the monitor off the truck and asked him to send it back. Now I've just
got to wait for Dell to refund the charge on that card...
Good point, ZZZ - I'll keep that in mind for next time.
Jose,
It's very easy to use Dell SB, I didn't need to provide a Tax ID number or
other "authentication" info, simply the name and address of my business.
Virtually anyone can present themselves as a small business, even if you're...
Hey, you've introduced weapons of mass distraction with your big blue fonts!
I call foul, and will be contacting the Hague to bring you up on "word crime"
charges. :D
I will refrain from responding in kind, and will simply sneak into one of your
threads and step all over it... (nah, I'm...
The 3007-HC is available now by itself (I have one sitting on my bench at
the moment) if you know the right salespeople to ask - check this thread out:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1159824
You can either go to page eight of the thread, or PM me if you want the
contact info for a...
Hi all,
I got the "O-K" to post Jonathan's information, so here it is. What's really
funny is that Jonathan's the trainer/coworker of Maggie, so there's going to be a
little ribbing/competition between them as to who sells the most HC's (which most
Dell salespeople are still in...
Hi Demigod,
Yes, I got back a response very quickly, asking:
When you say "video players," do you mean hooking up an external DVD player or cable box? Or do you mean playing a movie through the DVD ROM drive on your PC or watching TV via a TV tuner card in the PC?
I wrote back saying...
Hi Kingfrank,
You may want to return your monitor quickly, to have the best chance of getting
another S-IPS panel. From what you described your monitor should be returned,
it would be totally unacceptable to me - even an A-MVA would be preferable.
I have no idea about any backorder, when...
Hi Mutant,
I PM'ed you back, but figured I'd post here too. I've had my 2065 for about ten days,
and while I bought it to work (in portrait mode) next to a 3007-HC, I've got it on another
computer for the time being. I just checked it, and ran the brightness all the way down...
Heh - No flames from me, jbrukardt, as I can't comment on the original
3007, but both ozziegn and I have the new 3007-HC, which have very
good colors and increadible "real estate" with the 2560 x 1600 pixel
count.
Mortalsyn, if your company is buying the monitor for you to use
at home, then...
Hi Squeezee,
I'm hoping there'll be ways to take advantage of all the pixel goodness of the 3007/3065,
and somehow use the 1920 x 1080 HD output scaled to 2560 x 1440 or so. It may be
more than current standards/hardware allows, but I hope there'll be ways of doing this
in the near future...
Hi all,
Here's what I wrote:

Hi Mr. Unrein,
I read the reviews you and Mr. Altavilla did of the new 30" monitors
based on the LM3001WQ1 panel, and saw the pictures of movies that were played
to show the image quality.
I, and a number of people I...
Heh - expensive city you got there. The building and small plot
of land I have out here would likely be around 2Mil if it were in NYC,
perhaps much more. I guess I'll keep putting up with the occasional
snowmobiler running across my property if it means no sales tax. ;)
Back to the...
Hi ZZZ,
Yes, the regular and HC 3007's come with dual-link cables. Save your
money, there's no reason to "upgrade" to the Belkin or other fancy cables.
CAMster
Great - this thread is heading into the toilet... ;)
I'm interested to hear more about HC uniformity and user impressions, so I'm
eager for you guys to get your monitors too. I'll check your pictures thread
when its up (which it seems to be).
