I might have to switch motherboards because of an issue with M.2 layout and PCIE lane mapping, but curious if anyone has one of these and can share what the chipset temps on the Aorus Xtreme Z690 (non-WB version) is like?
VRM temps seem to be in hand nowadays on almost all boards from what I...
Well that's the end of Optane acceleration.
Intel posted the below on their site that Optane Memory is not supported in Z690. Have confirmed the 800p and M10 SSDs that worked for acceleration on my 11th gen ZBook don't work on my Z690 desktop I built over the holiday.
H10/H20 hybrid SSDs...
Just built a new Z690 system, seems some acceleration options have been blocked which is a shame. The 800p no longer works, which is the same controller as the M10.
Just curious about what drives work as I want to cache a big PCIe 3.0 secondary drive, and Optane drives sub 380GB are finally plausibly priced now that Intel is ending them. It seems at least the 800p storage drives can be used for acceleration and with the added size might reduce cache misses...
I'll defer to MistaSparkul seeing as I haven't run a single card for years and the others I know who have a single 290x have lower res screens.
If you have psu capacity to spare you could add another 290x (they are pretty cheap now) otherwise some investment will be required.
An alternative...
What did you want to know? I had this resolution on a 290x crossfire, everything seemed fine and framerate never went under my screens 60Hz refresh rate. AFAIK the 290x's scale nicely as you increase res, they do slow down but not as much as other cards.
I noticed the speakers on mine make small popping noises if I take off a particularly static prone wool jacket I have in the same room.
Kinda strange as they don't pick up interference from anything else and there are no buzzing/squealing noises.
Edit: Screen is set to about 25-30% brightness...
Interesting - the unit shipped to me from Eizo Australia a few weeks ago also had bad glow in the bottom left corner. Guess it's just how they come now.
My Eizo EV2736W arrived a few weeks ago but it had terrible backlight bleed in the bottom left of the screen, well visible even in normal lighting/images.
Would have been great apart from the bleed but I couldn't be bothered going for another gamble so ditched it in favour of a BenQ 32" VA.
I have the same calibrator as TFT Central and used it on my BL3200PT (arrived yesterday).
Most of the colour/brightness/gamma tweaks seem to have been made at a hardware level on the screen as it supports automatic hardware calibration adjustment.
If TFT Central use the same ICC colour...
I have a BenQ BL3200PT (along with a X-Rite i1Display Pro) due to arrive in a couple of days, once it gets here I'm going to compare that to a EV2736w I managed to find and keep the best one for dark colours.
The EV2736w is pretty good but still does still have a touch of IPS glow.
This...
The FG2421 specs are great and 1080p is a good resolution for that size. I think the drop in size would be too off putting though after using a 27" for the last couple of years.
Perhaps if they release a larger size in the future I will get one with free international shipping off Amazon.
There seems to be a 2014 version floating about: EV2736W-Z
Mention of it here and here.
I can't really see what is difference is, the Eizo Japan site mentions a different stand but I can't get the specs tab to work in Google translate. It looks the same in pictures. AFAIK Auto EcoView...
Heh turns out the only dealer for Eizo monitors here is a photography chain and they seem to be charging $1962 ($1678USD) for a EV2736W on a 1-2 month back order. This is a tough pill to swallow given the price and availability of them in other countries - I get the feeling it would be quicker...
Cool this is good information, that screen shot with the polarizer does look appealing. :)
I noticed the Eizo EV2736W is available at another store nearby, it's a bit more than the Asus but could be worth while. Looks like local stores don't stock the BenQ but I could probably order one in...
Sooo I picked up an Asus PA279Q yesterday to replace my Samsung S27A950D. I was looking forward to a good quality IPS to replace the old TN seeing as I haven't played an input latency sensitive game in years.
10 minutes after powering it on I had instead received an education in black levels...
The Windows 7 CD I have is the SP1 version and seemed to find and install the 1044 (same version as ASUS) MEI driver. No luck, still a yellow mark.
I had a bit of trouble finding anything that had the SOL driver included but had a read of the links you posted and decided to give one of the...
Okies so uninstalled MEI in control panel, removed the driver in device manager and removed any last vestiges of the driver in safe mode so it just appeared as "Simple PCI Communcations Device" (or words to that effect, I didn't write it down :P) in device manager.
Confirmed I have .NET...
Thanks, I re-installed the main Intel chipset inf first up.
I gave the MEI driver from Asus a try and it installed but had the same issue as the Gigabyte one. I couldn't find any drivers by unpacking the .exe in both so I unpacked the Intel one and installed that manually but no luck. Here is...
My Intel Management Engine Interface driver has been showing an error ever since I got my Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5-B3.
There is a yellow bang (!) next it in Device Manager and the error "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
This doesn't seem to have a negative effect on anything rather than...
RAID 1 would give you similar speed with 2 disks but you would need 4 disks to get the same capacity. 4 disks of course would increase the speed even more but that would be double the price per GB. The other issue is I don't know of any motherboards boards that that have more than two sata 3...
2 x SSDs in RAID 0 absolutely blaze for read speeds.
My two Adata S511 128G drives have been in use every day from their wipe in November when they last had a firmware update. HD Tune Gives them an average speed of 869.1 MB/sec after 2 months heavy use with only 50G free space. Most of the...
So has anyone tried the Intel 520 Series yet? I can't find a review anywhere.
The store in town here has 120G and 180G versions in stock. My laptop should be arriving in a few days so would be great to be able to put the new SSD in it from the get go.
The Intel 520 Series 180G is NZD $100...
In the end I went with the Arctic Cooling Xtreme Plus II third party cooler, have used it for a couple of days now and and can barely hear it under load. It does pump almost all of the heat from the card into the case though so I think I might get some extra power supply and CPU fan noise if I...
Grand thanks for the info!
Now I just have to figure out if it is worth attaching something like a Accelero Twin Turbo II (0.3 sone?!?) or getting one of the cards mentioned above.
I might check some of the stores here what is available might decide for me :)
I already have a Sapphire 6970 with reference cooler but it is annoyingly loud (about 3 times louder than my flatmates 6850 Toxic) and I want to replace it with something quieter but I don't really want to go slower.
I see Sapphire have changed their stock coolers to a dual fan setup and they...
dz187 - My 950 seems to show bios screens and such fine. Check what output you are using on your video card, perhaps the card is not activating until Windows/other OS driver has loaded?
Galvin - These screens do have a vertical colour shift but only at extreme angles. I have to lean over mine...
The new firmware from Adata seems to have fixed the issue and I am back up and running normally, as long as S.M.A.R.T is turned off in bios.
If SMART is enabled I sometimes get a SMART FAILED error next to the drive status on boot and Windows will freeze for about 20 seconds when there is a...
I downgraded from tower speakers and a receiver to a z5500 when my old amp packed up but found them terrible.
The little satellite speakers on the z5500 seemed tinny and and the sub-woofer would attempt to play any sound up to about 150kHz. It would be much better suited to being an actual...
I have Deus Ex working now, appears to have been an issue with configuring the video settings from in game rather than setting it up through the Deus Ex setup launcher.
I used the Syncmaster DDD driver from the DDD website as it only appeared to kick in when I went to run the a game through...
I don't have an OCZ product but I have two Sandforce 2200 drives and one of them had the 'disk disappearing problem' that people have been reporting.
The manufacturer provided me with a firmware fix last night, if that works then I imagine a firmware fix for OCZ drives would likely not be far...
Hmm interesting... I am obviously doing something wrong.
With the Syncmaster DDD drivers and my 6970 3D will only work through HDMI for me. I get an error message from DDD (something about driver stereo error, I can't remember off hand) on display port and dual-link DVI.
With HDMI I have...
Once they have Crossfire working for 3D I will get another Radeon 6970, the 3D on the S27A950D is great but the hit to framerates when using TriDef is a drawback.
Does anyone know if 3D works through display port yet?
Also has anyone got the native AMD HD3D in Deus Ex Human Revolution...
Gigabyte have just released a beta bios update for my board:
F9B
- Improve OCZ PCIe SSD compatibility
Seems unlikely this will make a difference to the Sandforce 2281 sata3 drives but will give it a go tonight.
The Gigabyte board I am using seems to use a Marvell chip for external...
Heh Sandforce have released something on the controller for these types of SSD - http://www.sandforce.com/index.php?id=189
Apparently the issue is hard to track down. Seeing as I have two identical drives, one with the issue and one without, I get the impression they might be off the mark a...
Just an update...
Adata advised me they have a firmware update due by the end of the month that might help. Also the new RST 10.6.1022 seems to have reduced the crash to once every couple of days.
Have you had any luck with OCZ?
Just came back to find same crash occured with only the two SSDs connected so that has eliminated the other drives.
I read on an OCZ forum a moderator suggested turning S.M.A.R.T off in BIOS to someone else with the same issue but this doesn't seem to have worked for me.
I have sent a...
Hi egandt,
I have the same issue with one of my Adata S511 120G drives on my Gigabyte ga-z68x-ud5-b3 and am investigating it.
I have two of the drives in a RAID 0 and one of the drives will disappear. This causes windows to bluescreen and it cannot save the crash dump.
In my case I...
Sadly my new Radeon 6970 won't fit in my Storm Scout without chopping up the HDD cage and I have a few to many drives that need to fit.
I have been looking at the HAF 912 Advanced (with black interior) on the Cooler Master website and it looks VERY similar to my Storm Scout with the exception...
