Anyone know if the S1283 will fit an evga 680i wih the HR-05 IFX (non SLI version) on the NB? From pics it doesnt look like it would work mounted with the fan blowing towards the back of the case, but maybe towards the top?
I have a strange problem with a home theater PC that I am setting up. Not sure if it is a video card or mobo issue. The mobo is a evga 680i, video card a 7950 gx2. The gx2 will not work in the primary PCI Express slot. There is no video signal, though the PC does post with 1 long beep and 2...
Thats true. Not to mention I didn't notice any flicker on the previous monitors I had so I probably just got stuck with a defective panel. I plan on getting a bigger S-IPS in a couple months anyway. 20" just seems too small after seeing all the 30"+ panels around here :D
My preference after seeing the 20WMGX2 is glossy. Solid colors are so much clearer and vibrant. The anti glare coating makes solid colors grainy or gives them a shimmer effect. Glare wouldn't be a problem for me with my room lighting, and even if it was I could always close the blinds or turn...
I see light to moderate flicker in almost every video I watch, and heavy flickering in some areas of BF2. I don't even need to use a "test pattern" to see the flicker. Practically any solid mid-tone color will do it on mine. I actually think I have gotten used to it now  It doesn't bother...
The anti-reflective coating is great for office use or in a room with direct sunglight. Seems most people prefer it over glossy screens even if it does make the the picture a little grainy. I was the same way at first, thinking there was no way I would like glossy after using a CRT for so long...
JungleMan, color banding is no longer an issue with the latest revisions. That was fixed months ago and the purple hue at angles is a property of the S-IPS panels.
I am. Can't stand the color shifting on PVA's and I won't even look at TN as an option. I'm also not completely satisfied with IPS, but they are good enough for me to no longer consider CRT's. My previous monitor was a Cornerstone p1750 so any current LCD will be a downgrade as far as color...
TN panels generally have smaller viewing angles and below average accuracy when compared to other panel types. Doesn't mean there bad monitors though. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD
Edit: I don't know of any non TN 22" panels planned in the future, but it seems likely there...
Just remember that all current 22" panels are TN. If you have a $500 budget you should be able to get a higher quality 20" panel if you don't mind losing a little screen size.
If I can convince them to drop the restocking fee I plan on returning it in a month or so. I don't want to do yet another exchange (already have 4 times from the lottery) and if I were to return it for a refund now I would be stuck with a junk 17" CRT while having to do more research to find a...
For me Its annoying as hell in and BF2, and a lot of sites I visit have background colors that flicker. I also watch a lot of anime and the flicker is noticeable there as well. If it only flickered on a test screen I wouldn't care.
So its confirmed is uses an S-PVA panel? Does it have any color shifting like the S-PVA that was used in the 2007WFP? If not, I may have to pick one of these up in a few months.
Someone posted a video of the flicker on Youtube.

Low quality vid, but that gives a good idea of what it looks like. Look at the grey backgrounds. They seem almost animated. Also much more noticable in person.
Yes, but you are really just shifting the problem. For example, I can lower or raise the brightness to reduce flickering, but that also screws up the colors. The only reason that works is because you are changing the color so much it no longer falls within the range of colors that flicker.
Not sure really. I checked on my CRT and it doesn't flicker at all, and I don't mean when you scroll up or down. Just sitting there it flickers like crazy on the 2007WFP. Worse than a CRT with a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Apparently it wasn't fixed. I have a revision A03 S-IPS panel made in December and it has horrible flickering of the background on that site you posted.
I took a big risk and returned the S-IPS I received last month because it developed a stuck pixel. Replacement arrived today. This is the 5th 2007WFP I have received and its a perfect S-IPS panel. Just hope it stays that way. Now would probably be a good time to order if you want S-IPS. Seems...
It sounds like a stuck pixel that could possibly be fixed. Download UDPixel and run it for a few hours. If that doesn't work, use a lightly damp cloth to put pressure on the stuck pixel while turning on the the monitor. That has been know to fix stuck pixels.
For a non widescreen 20" S-IPS there is the HP LP2065. Its around the $400 mark.
I wish the 20WMGX2 would drop to around $400. I bet a lot more would be sold in that price range. :D
You don't have to tell them anything as long as you return it within the 21 day gurantee. Its a satisfaction gurantee, so just say you aren't satisifed with the monitor if they ask. I don't recommend calling though. Just submit the return form from your Dell account. Yes, it comes with a DVI cable.
Just another mistake by Dell. Strange they still haven't taken that pic down yet. Don't order if you are expecting to get the 27". It is false advertisement to me. I betmore than a few people have ordered thinking they will get component input.
