I did this awhile ago and it is a good deal. Just note you have to pay extra if you want the physical disk (maybe $12 or so). I just got it because I'm paranoid. Also the programs are arranged a little differently than 2002 which I was used to, but I'm getting the hang of them.

Try Tversity (just google it). I think you can set it up to transcode on the fly and play anything on the PS3. I believe it's what most people use to watch movies from their comp, but I'm not sure it will work for you. Couldn't hurt to look it up though.
