TY for the replies :)
Ill definitely look at that ram and might swap it out.
The extra storage would be independent of the RAID 0 (if I even do RAID 0). SSD or HDD on a separate SATA port exclusively for storage and overflow.
Was reading this review of this motherboard and now im confused...
Hey all. Making a new gaming rig and have some basic questions about storage and read/write times.
While researching m2ssd, I read somewhere that your read/writes will only be as fast as the slowest sata device in your system? Ive not heard this before. It wasnt a highly reputable source it was...
Well im confused. I checked out the latest Creative products on the soundblaster website, and none of them seem to 7.1 channel. All 5.1 channel.
Im getting a Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset, so would need a sound card that can output 7.1.
Any other suggestions? Im looking for the best performing...

Catleap 2b @ 120hz. Fraps says 120hz, Powerstrip says 120hz, but Im not sure how to interpret this test and from what I have read, it looks like shurcool exe proves that my monitor IS frame skipping?
Not sure. Interpretive help appreciated.

As stated, I need a socket 775 CPU to repair one of my older computers that I am not interested in completely replacing at this time.
Looking for primarily an e8600, or an e8500 but any s775 CPU will be considered.
Perfect 26-0-0 Heatware located here...
Interested in purchasing a new gaming monitor.
Price is not an issue. Im looking for the best monitor(s) on the market.
Trying to decide if I want to go Nvidia surround, or just 1 really good high quality 120hz monitor. Opinions on both sides of this are most welcome.
The current new...
Thanks everyone for all of the info.
Much appreciated.
Reseated the CPU cooler and running about 10C cooler now, with a stable 4.3Ghz OC. Pretty poor OC at this point but I only played around for about 20 mins before I stopped.
Alot of catching up to do with the new socket, new chipset, and...
Nah...gonna do that tonight though.
Just not familiar with s1155 or ivybridge. I know ivy runs hot but wasnt sure what expected or normal temps were.
Last computers I put together and overclocked were all s775 so im out of the loop by a few years....

Just finished putting together my brand new beastly computer :)
I used to be quite active in the computer/benchmarking arena, but have been out of circulation for a good few years. Thats a lifetime for computers as most everyone here knows.....
Im interested in running some benchmarks to test...
EVGA 04G-P4-3585-KR, which is supposedly a 4gb version of a EVGA 680 GTZ has 4gb of memory, or 2gb of memory?
I bought this from newegg expecting a 4gb video card, and unless I have some driver or other issue its only showing 2gb?
GPU-Z shows 0 gb of memory (?), and CPU-Z shows 2gb...
Prob not interested in water cooling, unless the newer systems are prebuilt and really exceptional.
Again, back in my day water loops were all custom, and very labor intensive to get going both with building the loop and modding the case.
Im willing to invest the time to build the computer but...
Also, suggestions on the most current BEST aftermarket air heatsink/coolers for both the CPU and GPU appreciated.
Im not going to water cool. THAT would be too labor intensive to modify the case, put together the loop/etc....
Updated/Amended parts list.
Well, after thinking about things Ive decided I will just build this myself, and I am willing to wait a few weeks for newer items to become available.
Here is what I have so far. LMK if Ive screwed something up or there are better choices available :)
Mobo...
64bit for sure. Going to be buying a new copy. Prob Win7 x64 professional. I hate ultimate versions as they are usually too bloated for my tastes. I like lean, clean, and efficient OS.
TY for all of the advice!
Any and all additional input appreciated :)
TY for the well though out and detailed advice.
I will research the CPU/Memory/MB options further weighing your information in.
Which SSD would you recommend?
I have no problems spending time inspecting every single inch of every component. I just dont have time to assemble this myself...
Hello all!
Its been awhile. Ive been out of the OC scene for awhile, and Im looking to build a new gaming computer. My time to put one together myself is limited, so Im considering going with cyberpc.com
Here is a system I am tenatively looking at putting together. Nothing is definite yet...
Im not understanding how its set up either rofl..... here goes.
We have a server that houses all of the files and information. The server is connected to the router as are the other workstations. The netgear switch is connected to the router as well, and any workstations that dont fit on the...
I need a new router for my business network.
Its a pier to pier network, with the server doubling as a workstation.
We currently have 5 workstations (including the server workstation) and a network printer so need a minimum of 6 ports.
The network could potentially be expanded to up to...
Im interested in purchasing a new TV. My bedroom television just died on me today, and its not acceptable to not have a TV in that room. For one, its the main reason my wife can go to bed early so I can have a little peace and quiet in the family room before I call it a night!
Considering the...
Bump.
Mostly bumping for a little bit of advice for you.
I think you might get more interest if you let people know that you replaced the original CPU (T5500 - 1.66 Ghz) with the 2.6Ghz T9500. Some people may not realize that you did a big upgrade on this thing for increased performance...
Hehe nope this is not a gift for me.
I dont really play consoles at all. Im a PC gamer 99% of the time although Im sure I will play his new PS3 with him to get some father/son time.
I personally would purchase the 60gb with full backwards compat, extra usb ports/etc....but once again if he...
Thanks for the info.
It helped alot in making my decision. Just going to go with the brand new 80gb PS3 since we have a PS2 already. And Tiraides you hit the nail on the head. The end deciding factor was that this is a gift (birthday gift in fact) and I think he would feel a tad "gypped" with...
Ummm..
TY for the advice. Seriously. But Im not going to tell my son that he is waiting 1 yr for a PS3 :P
But Im not waiting a year for a PS3. Im purchasing one before the end of the week and was shopping around for info and to confirm if the info I have above is indeed correct.
