Both weigh around 7lbs. Think I can do better?
EDIT...
I'm moving overseas and want to bring my computer. I looked into laptops and was going to get the X220, but I won't be able to get it in time.
Therefore, I'm going to bring the computer listed in my signature. The case is heavy steel. Even though it's tiny, it adds a good amount of weight...
Tried Crysis 2 on my new box... It's playable, but it could be a whole lot better. Crysis 1 plays pretty well on high at 1680x1050.
edit:
Completed Crysis 2 on Very High mode, windowed at 1440x900 was the best mode. It was perfectly playable. There was only a few times where things were...
I think your assumptions are correct. It seems like it's the power supply. If you want to make sure, just buy the slimline power adapter and buy a PSU from Staples that you can easily return or use a friend's PSU. The items you selected look good.
You also really do need the molex to sata...
I tried using the old install on my former HD, but it wouldn't work. I've read how many people have gotten this to work, so I could be a fluke. Remember I had a lot of problems in the past. I decided to install from scratch onto the new HD.
This. I actually by a mistake and installed the...
Built the new computer... and it's smoking! Everything fits just fine, although there are a lot of cables all over the place. The Radeon 5570 I had bought works too. Don't know wtf the problem was with my HP build, but it's all in the past. Everything is even quieter now too, minus the hard...
Yup onboard works perfectly, but who knows for how long...
I'm kinda worried it'll die on me soon. I'm thinking about building a new comp using the same chassis. Here's what I came up with, keeping the costs as low as possible, but using quality components that will last for a long time.
It was my understanding that posting means seeing anything after turning on the computer. I turn on the computer with the video card in the slot and the monitor stays black. My comp can't even get to BIOS with a video card.
Tried two different adapters for the connector... I came up with this after staring at the board for 5 minutes. Great idea... but no dice.
Yes tried them all! Finished more than half a tube of thermal compound over the days trying all the combinations. How could the bios on two separate...
I've been thinking about doing the same thing. The case is really nice and because so many of my components are pissing me off I'm thinking about building a new box. If I can keep the slimline box that would be great.
Bought a new power supply. And it didn't fix the problem! Tried both motherboards, both video cards on both motherboards and still no dice. There's nothing left to try except buying a new CPU, but I don't understand how the CPU could make the video card not work properly.
I should add that...
I have a new video card. The old one wouldn't let the computer start up (no post again). Bought a new motherboard and have the same problem. I have tried using only the bare essentials when testing the system and still no post. I had this happen years ago with another video card and thought my...
My video card stopped working gradually. At first, the fan would spin faster more frequently. Then, my computer started feeling sluggish. Finally, the screen got pixelated. I restarted and it sort of worked. Then it got pixelated again. When restarting the second time... no post. I had a more...
Okay, got the new mobo... and am in a quandry.
I got the new mobo because I couldn't get the computer to post on the new graphics card. Thought something on the mobo was busted.
With the new mobo, the same thing happens with the graphics card. No post. I tried my old one and the new...
I bought a replacement mobo (IPILP-AR) and have been trying to get it to work. I can still use my old mobo.
I turn on the comp with just one stick of ram, no addon cards, using onboard video and my boot harddrive. It gets past the bios then the blinking cursor. Nothing happens. I tried to...
I don't have a budget for a new comp because I'm happy with my computer. It does everything I need it to, is quiet and comes in a nice small form factor and looks kinda cool. The upgrade to the 5570 will make a big difference. Yeah, faster CPU and more RAM would be nice, but E6600 is fast enough.
Forget it, I just bought a replacement mobo on ebay. 60 bucks shipped. Kinda annoying... but considering the comp is nearly 4 years old, it's not too bad.
Okay this kinda sucks...
My video card stopped working. So I thought it died. I bought the Radeon HD5570. Plugged it in. No post. Card fan spins. This had happened with my 8600GT. I thought the card died....
Now I think the motherboard is fried. Onboard video works just fine, but it slows down...
Okay, I got the IR blaster and it all works...
But the picture and sound quality is shit compared to the direct connection I used to have. I have this huge Motorola cable box. There are no more HD channels either. Is this to be expected from using a cable box? I'm tempted to cancel my cable...
Background story: asked if I needed a Receiver/IR Blaster. Got one and it works.
But the picture and sound quality is shit compared to the direct connection I used to have. I have this huge Motorola cable box. There are no more HD channels either. Is this to be expected from using a cable box...
Using WMC in Windows 7...
In my area Comcast has Fox HD sharing the same virtual channel as Univision. Way to go Comcast. I can get Fox HD to work in SageTV, it has two channels for the same virtual number. I would rather use WMC since it looks better. Is it possible to edit the actual...
I just got basic cable from Comcast. I have an ATI TV Tuner 650 PCI. It works great except for one thing...
I can't get Fox. Telemundo comes through instead. I'm thinking it may be a software issue. When I first got cable it worked. Then I set WMC (Win 7) to record a show on Fox. I loaded WMC...
Hello all! I haven't posted in quite a while, but I have a problem. I picked up the above card on the Woot! sale.
It worked when I first plugged it in and installed "TV_WONDER_650_PCI_DRIVERS_VISTA_VER_20". However it was really jerky. My comp can handle HD video, so I thought it should be...
Thanks Archaea! Nice to 'see' you again.
I think the Sparkle psu is a little bit quieter than the oem one. Not really sure. It's still rather quiet compared to most PCs.
Hey everyone. Long time not visiting, but I figure I'd update all of you on what's up with my computer. I was having trouble exiting standby mode and through a process of deduction I discovered my PSU was weakened. So I purchased that Sparkle PSU and the cables and now everything is working just...
My computer stuttered just like you. The problem was with my Antivirus Suite. I had some net scanner enabled. I think I had MacAfee at the time. I disabled it and the problems went away.
Your sticker may be wrong, but then again, you don't have an s3xxx series box, so I don't know.
HP tech support is pretty crappy from my experiences with them, so I would take what they say with a grain of salt.
The card doesn't need an extra power connector. Others (Archaea?) would have a better idea if the card works, since I don't have the 160W PSU. I think you should be fine though.
