Are you kidding?
ATI gives you driver only downloads which you can install and uninstall completely in device manager. All you need is ATT.
Nvidia drivers though will load all sorts crap and then fails to uninstall completely. It so bad that I create a restore point before I install my...
It's might now be nowhere near the resolution, but it's only a 10% smaller viewable area than your 3 22" put together, and I don't have to look at bezels.
The whole time I'm looking at this video all I see is the FOV being cut up with bezels. I just can't see why people justify the bezels just to get a higher resolutions.
Like others have said, I rather game on my 37" than have my FOV chopped up into sections.
What is means is most games don't require that much PCI-E bandwidth to make a big difference, though I'm sure there are some titles that do require that extra bandwidth.
COD4 is one of those titles, but considering the avg FPS it really doesn't matter much.
With DX11's tessellation we...
Sure adding pixels is always nice, but at the cost of splitting your FOV with bezels not for me. Also your wrong more pixels V/H doesn't mean your have a 75% wider FOV if your using the 3 16/10 displays in portrait.
3600/1920 = 1.875
2025/1080 or 1920/1024 = 1.875
2025/1920 = 1.0547 or...
I got the same 37" screen and I have to completely agree.
I just can't see what's so great about 3 displays in portrait mode if your only getting a whole 5.47% more FOV at the cost of having bezels running down the display. I can create the same FOV effect by just making a 1920x1024...

@Terpfen
No problem here with game profiles option in ATT. I set the speeds I want loading the game and the speeds I want when it exits and I'm done. What great is you don't even need to make new shortcuts as ATT picks up the exe launching on it's own. ATT is great!

550/200 is all you need. As I said before anything under 550 on the core is useless as far as powersaving goes. I only posted the 200/200 as proof that I can go that low on the core and memory. 550/200 is still my stock idle and 2D speeds.
Sucks that the X2 cards don't downclock that low. Here's a screenshot of my 4870 1GB at the 200/200 @1.083v.

Goto Tools & Options -> General Options -> Advanced. Then just uncheck Use overclocking limits.
I normally run 550/200 @ 1.083v. Going from a core clock of 550 -> 200 only save a extra watt so it's not really useful. Downclocking the memory to 200 though is very useful. It cuts down on...
That's really a funny interview. Right before you read the part about the sideport, Eric pulls some BS of why the 4870 doesn't downclock properly.
My stock clocked 4870 runs 500/900 @ 1.203, but with ATT I can change that to 200/200 @ 1.083v no problem. According to Eric though.
Seriously...
Sideport is supposed to have stability problems, and offer minimal performance difference of 3-5%. If ATi can fix the problems it will be enabled, but right now they need to focus on more important things like better drivers and user created profiles.
At that resolution it's not worth changing cards. Based off Anandtech review the GTX285 only wins by 3% at that resolution.

Sure the X2 does that, but not the 4870 single. Even those clocks could be better on the X2 I would assume.
VDDC Current = 4.1A @ 550/200 1.083v
VDDC Current = 10.8A @ 507/500 1.083v
VDDC Current = 23.0A @ 500/900 1.203v ( stock idle clock on my 4870 1GB )
If you look at the charts the...

Then make your profiles and put back the check if you want.

ATi cards do have powerplay, but it's not optimized at all.
According to the page where I got most of my info they saved around 45w on idle, with 160/225 @ 1.083v. Actually there's only a 1w difference between 550 and 160 on the core, which is why I use 550/200.
Here's the link to that...
If you have a 4870, then just download ATT and make a profile for 550/200 @ 1.083v for idling, or just flash the bios. Here's what mine runs at idle.

You should use the hardware monitor in rivatuner to see what your GPU usage, clock speeds, and temps are while gaming. If there's a problem you should be able to point it out with that info.
