Just seen this on a clients computer today. The best way I found to remove it was to delete it from the default/extensions folder in their profile. This stopped it from running at least.
I thought down the same lines when buying this setup. The clincher is that I change my systems very regularly, but not my monitor. Having an all in one would limit my choices in the future.
I'm still not sold on the netbook, I'm awaiting the UK iPad launch to have a play and see what I make...
Time for a bit of an update. I've changed quite a bit of kit recently:
Gone is the macbook, the apple 20in cinema display, the vesa desk mount, the apple keyboard, the logitech mx revolution. The VESA mount was sadly destroying the desk so I had to remove it. The ikea desk clearly isn't...
I've had the 1st gen mbp the 3rd gen mbp and the current macbook so I can give you a good idea of the heat from each.
The 1st gen got quite hot, especially around the f keys, the 3rd gen was much cooler and the new macbook are even cooler. Which is somewhat annoying when its freezing cold...
This is totally incorrect, the mbp is designed to work with the lid closed. There was a problem doing this with some of the ibooks but that was ages ago.
The mbp runs fine for hours and weeks with the lcd closed. Just ask anyone who runs the mbp with an external monitor.
The mbp vents...
I've both the mx rev and vx nano and use the setpoint drivers with no issues.
Never had it crash on me once. Same on the other mac mini in the house with a mx rev too.
This may seem odd but I had a similiar problem with a clients computer. Turns out that if I had the usb keyboard plugged in it would show this error without it and it would boot fine.
Try unplugging everything except the power and monitor and see if that solves the issue.
I agree, I've purchased 3 xps laptops for clients and they are superb machines. I could never recommend a client buys an alienware.
If dell just rebrand them thats fine, but keep the alienware tacky away please.
The macbook has user installable hard drives its near the battery compartment so either they told you something wrong or you don't have a macbook.
The macbook will take any standard size 2.5in sata hard drive size is no issue.
I got a huge saving on this one and I'm unlikely to get that for the next one so thats a mute point really.
If you wait for the next version all the time you'd never get one. Also apple rumors are often wildly wrong.
Thanks, yes there is a massive difference its so much brighter!
This model has only just come out and there isn't anything massively different on the intel road map so I'm not concerned. Yes the shape of the current model hasn't changed in two years, but it's still one of the best out...
My setup has changed quite a bit in the last week or two.
Firstly I've replaced my Apple Macbook Pro with a newer model. I'd had the old one for 2 years so it was time for an upgrade. The new one is one of the latest penryn ones with an LED screen. Its a great little machine.
Here's a...
I've just done what you are thinking of doing and I've been using just the mbp for some months now and I think I made the right choice.
I went from this:
To this:
I thought about keeping the screen but in the end decided to just use the mbp's screen.
I have to say its great, far...
Thanks there doesn't seem to be any mention of the email side on all the whs sites I've read. Though one enterprising person has managed to get an email server running on one.
I've been looking at getting one of the HP home servers to replace the current setup I have for sharing files. I was wondering if it was possible to collect emails on the server. As I have cron job emails coming in by the bucket load and would like to off load them to the server?
Is it...
There is a 2ghz core duo and a 2ghz core 2 duo. I have 2ghz core duo in my mac mini. The difference between them is down to the core duo being a less efficient design, I don't believe there is any bus speed differences.
The difference between the 1.83ghz models is just speed / memory...
Not a lot apart from memory support. The core 2 duo's support more.
The core 2 duo cpu is around 15-20% quicker than the core duo cpu. However you can stick either processor in any of the intel mini's.
I wouldn't bother going for 4gb you won't get any real performance increase. 2gb is about the best for the mini at the moment. 3gb is possible, but in certain situations is slower than 2gb.
There was one not two months ago. It added the 2.4ghz cpu. No one ever knows when a new model will be released apart from apple themselves. Anyone saying they do is lying.
I've never used the ones on the tv until you mentioned it and its much slower than the remote. However it's still far quicker than my lg lcd tv, and the remote has buttons for each mode rather than having to step through each every time! That used to drive me up the wall.
Its a sony 17in widescreen number, model no MFM-HT75W. Sadly discontinued now, but its great. I managed to get a refurbed one off ebay a few months back. Takes up far less space than the old 17in screen and looks stunning to boot.
I've had a big change in setup, I got fed up of having 3 different computers to maintain and admin. So I've taken everything back to the bone.
