I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but it could be that your mouse was smoother just because the pads on the bottom were brand new. They wear down/get gunked up pretty quickly and this probably happens even more because you use a metal mousepad.
But other than that one minor...
Reformated using a different graphics card, shut down the comp, stick in the 6800 gt, hook everything up, start it up and same thing, colored blocks covering the whole screen. rma time I guess.
Ok nevermind, pay no attention to my last post, I'm going to try this. I had no clue what order to install the drivers so I just went with the cd that I found first. Dumb newbie mistake.
edit: How do I reformat without being able to view anything going on onscreen? The colored blocks...
Strange, i just built a new comp with an evga 6800 gt and after working perfectly fine for an hour it changed to doing just what yours is doing, but it covers the whole screen so i cant get into windows. I hadn't oced it or anything. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Thanks for the link, but I can't really flash the bios without even being able to start up the computer. And I haven't done any ocing, which seems to be whats causing the problem in that thread.
So i just put together my computer. It consists of
antec sonata (2x120mm fans)
380w truepower psu
chaintech vnf3-250
A64 3000+
2x512 pc3200 pdp ram
raptor 74gb hd
dvd drive
lite on cdrw
evga 6800 gt
So I got everything hooked up (had some problems, figured it out), turned it on...
Well crap. How am I supposed to fix this problem, is my only option buying a new psu?
I should add that I'm using the 380w antec truepower that came with my sonata.
edit: and I do leave hte side of the case open so i can see what is happening. I have 2 120mm case fans then the 90mm fan on...
Ok I tried reseating my zalman heatsink, no luck. I can't figure it out. The noise comes on as soon as the power is turned on, so i dont see how it could be overheating.
I'm new to building computers, just put together my comp which consists of:
antec sonata
chaintech vnf3-250
athlon 64 3000+
6800gt
and other parts that probably dont matter for this.
So I got everything hooked up and put together and I plug in the power to the computer and press the...
outpost.com but then you factor in taxes (if you live in a state with a frys) and shipping and it ended up around 390. Plus once they lowered the price to 350 it sold out almost instantly. Far cry is currently going for 20 bucks on outpost, so thats really not a better deal. No free shipping...

Seems like a pretty hot deal to me.
edit: changed the link, had it wrong the first time.
Not only do I not have the extra 100 for the gt anywhere in my budget for this system, it also comes with doom 3 and far cry for free, 2 games I was definately going to buy, saving me a further 100 dollars. I think its worth it.
I was going to go buy the bfg 6800 oc with farcry and doom3 at best buy deal tonight but should I wait for the 6600 gt? Will it outperform the 6800 nu and how much will it cost?
