I'm able to buy an LG L2300B at roughly half price, so it made me curious. I found out it uses the same panel as the HP L2335, but how viable is this screen compared to the 23 and 24-inchers of today? I haven't been able to find any reviews of it anywhere. Main uses would be movies / gaming.
Just to add my experiences, exactly the same issues started coming up with my card (X1800XT 256 MB) after I installed and started playing NWN 2. I'm also using an Opteron 165 @2.6.
My card has been overclocked, but going back to stock speeds on the X1800XT does not seem to help. After...
Be happy you guys don't live in Sweden. I got my 2007WFP last week, and it had horrible backlight bleeding from the left side. To get it replaced, they demand I send in PHOTOS of the problem, or they won't do anything.
Guess custome service isn't the same across the world.
S-IPS, got mine today. Great screen, but has a bit of backlight bleeding in the left bottom corner. Sucks when you watch 4:3 movies. Gonna ask for a new one tomorrow.
This is being shipped to Sweden. Guessing they were out of stock, as I ordered it at the end of a 25% off-spree. The 2407 is 25% off now, but the price is still way too high compared to the prices in the US ($1000 in US funds)..
I'm getting the one I'm ordered delivered on Oct 11. Was delayed from Oct 9 and says "In production" at the moment. If it's a PVA I'll let you know, and then return it and get a 22" Samsung or similar.
These are the specs from the swedish site. A bit different, wouldn't you say?
http://www.samsung.com/se/products/monitors/tft21_40/225bw.asp?page=Specifications
Ordered one, don't know when it'll get here though, no release date.
As the topic says. I*m gaming a lot, using a 2.1 speaker setup (Logitech speakers). Would I notice any difference in the sound going from my old (5+ years) SB Live! Value to either an Audigy 2 ZS or an X-Fi Extrememusic?
Given I had the choice of either, which would give me the most value...
For reference, my P4P800 Intel motherboard fried cards on me until I replaced it a couple of months ago. The only card that survived for an extended perdiod of time was a GF4 Ti4200.
Cards that have died the last 18 months:
Sparkle 6800GT x 2
Leadtek 6800GT
Sapphire X850XT
The first...
Thanks for the advice! I'll look into getting one of those PCI exhaust fans. I'm in Sweden though, so supply is probably limited.
EDIT: This one is available here.. Anything I should try?
http://www.akasa.com.tw/akasa_english/spec_page/system_coolers/spec_ak_sb_rd.htm
I'm stuck with a Sonata II case, which means there are limited options for extra fans. The single 120 mm fan exhaust. I don't use the heatduct, as it doesn't seem to do my temps any good. Should I plug up the intake holes where the duct is supposed to go to help airflow? A bit OT, I know :)...
So I'm -really- happy with my X1800XT, besides the noise the stock cooler makes. My airflow is a bit limited (Sonata II, 1x120 mm fan exhaust), but I'm still looking for a replacement cooler for my card.
Do you have any suggestions? My card now idles at around 55 deg C. Mainly trying to get...
My rig died last night, so I'm looking into buying a new one with an Opteron 165. Now, my question is as follows:
I'm going to overclock the Opteron 165 to around 2.4 GHz on air, and I'm curious if I need to worry about what kind of memory to buy to achieve this.
Currently considering two...
Yeah, kinda like those sites offering a premium "no dead pixel warranty" on lcd monitors. If you buy a monitor without the warranty, you'll probably get a few dead pixels..
I know that a PE is faster than a XT, but my card (as stated above) is doing PE+ speeds. Just wanted to know if there are any additional benefits (apart from the clock speeds) with the PE version (memory timings, other stuff I don't know about..) compared to the XT?
EDIT: My card is a...
I know there's a plethora of 20-inch widescreen LCDs, but what about 21-inchers? I live in Sweden, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get a Gateway screen here. Do you guys know of any other (good) 21-inchers around?
Well, I loaded AtiTool and managed to somehow ruin my "default" fan speed settings for my card. Now it seems that no matter what I do, I either get way too high temps or way too much noise.
Does anyone know what the "default" setting on a X850XT card is, regarding the fan? Or does someone...
I run my X850XT on a p4 @3.25 with an Antec TruePower 380W Power Suppy. I got lucky and "inherited" this supply from a friend, and it performs really well.
Anything around 400W and you shouldn't have a problem.
Good luck!
Ok, got a replacement card, everything seems fine. I was really worried something else might be going on inside my computer, but it's all sealed up now.
Now, a few questions.
Card is idling at around 38 deg C and having played DDO Beta for 2 hours with max settings @1600x1200 went up...
Well, here's how it went today:
Installed a new PSU (Antec TruPower 380W, from a friend's Sonata Case). Ran the card, exactly the same problems. HOWEVER - it seems that this problem only occurs when running DVI. I couldn't get this problem using D-SUB.
Card is going back tomorrow, see if...
Does anyone have any information on the Chieftec HPC-340-201 340W power supply? I know it's a bit old, but I can't seem to find any reviews or information about it .
Trying to figure out if it's causing the problems I'm having with my comp, or if it's something else. Any known problems /...
The card won't boot without the cable plugged in. Using a molex connector that's not shared with other components, as well.
Could be the PSU, but I thought X850-series ATI cards weren't as power-hungry as 6800-series Nvidia cards?
I used driver cleaner prior to the installation, removing both ATI and Nvidia drivers (just to be sure).
System is as follows:
ASUS P4P800 Motherboard, 2 x 512 MB Kingston VRAM DIMMS, Intel P4 2.8GHz CPU (Running at 3.3), Chieftec 340W PSU.
This computer used to run my overclocked...
Hey,
I just bought a Powercolor X850XT AGP card to replace my old, broken Nvidia AGP card.
Tried a few 3d games, and the screen starts going "On and off", i.e. turning black for a second, then coming right back on again, making everything unplayable.
EDIT: When I alt-tab back into...
In my experience, the quality of down-scaling from native resolutions on LCDs is mainly based on the original resolution of the monitor. You'll see overall better results running 1024x768 on a 1600x1200 native screen than on a 1280x1024 native screen.
As for how to handle resolution scaling...
Does anyone know anything about this monitor? What panel does it use? Any links to reviews?
Just saw it at pricerunner, and there's no info to be found (besides the hard facts, which I don't trust).
Well, we recently purchased two 42-inch LCD screens at work on which we'll display server information. We also need to be able to have CNN available, so a TV-tuner is a must. The card in question must have dual dvi-outputs.
Any suggestions on what card to get? Guessing some kind of ATI AIW or...
Xbit Labs performed a breakdown of the different CPU's available at the moment, and their impact on gaming.
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games.html
Very interesting read.
Might be silly advice (if you've already checked), but isn't there an option in your graphics driver to not stretch non-native resolutions? I know a friend runs games on his widescreen laptop in 4:3 resolutions, when they don't have native support for widescreen.
Thanks guys, seems I've had a run of bad luck. Will return it and, since this is my third card from them that's crapped out, I'll ask for my money back and invest in a new rig instead.
I OC'ed a bit, but it never went above 62-63 degrees C fully loaded, compared to my Sparkle 6800GT (which died, non-OC'ed) that ran at about 75 deg C at full load.
I thought these cards were rated to run at least up to 80 degrees before you should start worrying?
Well, yesterday my Leadtek 6800GT (AGP) gave up on me. I was playing BF2, and all of a sudden I get these neat green / purple colors on the screen, a screeching sound and my computer reboots. After this, it seems that my computer reboots every time the Nvidia drivers are loaded, since the card...
For resolutions above 1280x1024, you will definetly see a difference using DVI. At 1280x1024 and below, it's dependant on the screen and / or your eyesight.
I've had my VP201b since around Christmas last year (paid around $1000 US for it), and I have to say I'm glad I made the purchase. I game a lot (native res), and it works great for both games and movies.
Only negative I've found so far is the black level, but you get used to it (or not, in...
