A64 OC Database & Overclock Guide

This actual SS was taken on air although i am now running water. My OC didnt change at all though...

Reading all this stuff about RAM dividers and ratio simply gave me a headache... Is this guide universal for any Athlon 64 CPU (including my Opteron 170), in that I just follow the numbers given in the steps, or do I have to calculate my own RAM ratio?

Keeping in mind that I JUST want to do my CPU and not my memory (for now).

I knew i could, just would be easier out of the BIOS.

Thanks anyway.
Speaking of the BIOS for the Asus A8N-E motherboard, FYI (in case you aren't aware), Asus has recently released BIOS ver. 1010.

cause i'm busy :p i'll try to find time tomorrow to update. i go back to school today and my normal computer that i have all the data on is packed up.

GUYS!

jeez. techhead even made this thread telling you not to post random discussion in here:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=999655

and it EXPLICITY states in the first post:

Now, the rules. FOLLOW these rules!

1) Try not to post if you do not have a new cpu or an update for a previous one. All comments/questions to me should be taken to PM's. If it's a general question regarding your cpu, post here!

i hate to be an ass, but just post in the discussion thread. if you want to ask someone a question about something they posted in here, simply quote and copy it to your reply in the discussion thread. it's not hard ;)

Ive been at this clockrate for 2 weeks now, perfectly stable

Will redo later if needed

ok guys. i get my cicuits homework done and the updated pics are going up.. maybe an hour? :D

First post here.

Got a 3700+ SD and an Asrock 939 dual-sataII mobo for Xmas (because the first was on sale and the second has both AGP and PCI-E slots, which suits my keep-my-6600GT-and-upgrade-later strategy). Now the Asrock isn't noted for it's overclocking prowess, so I went into this with low expectations. So I'm fairly pleased to post this:

ADA3700DAA5BN
KAB2E 0546BPAW

Bios set to max vcore of 1.45v
Stable (20+ hours of Prime95) at
2816 - 256 x 11
Stock heatsink/fan.
Aspire X-pider case has four Antec 90mm casefans, one front, one side, two back.
Temps under load - 39/38C

At 260x11 Prime95 will run for an hour, 40 minutes before faulting (completes an Aquamark3 run without any problems, and will play an round or two of CStrike), 265x11 errors out on Prime95 within minutes.

If I ever lay my hands on a conductive paint pen, or get brave with a soldering iron, I might try the volt mod (there is a paint-the-resistor mod to get a max vcore of 1.55 on this mobo, but that's it), but this chip is returning Sisandra and Aquamark3s consistant with an FX-57, so I'm very happy.

Ok Eclipse, I have an update for my same processor LBBLE, Week 0516, Code GPBW, Air cooled again but currently running 2627 from 1800 at 1.44V Prime stable and looking loverly... Signifigant gain I would say. From 1.5 v for 2700 Hopefully I will get there soon but as school has just set back in it will be some time before I can sit down and be as thurough as I would like. Thanks man... keep up the great work, I have a wife and daughter and I go to school full time and work too. I know what its like to be busy. Dont let others give you crap. You are great!!! :D

Finally got something stable last night

Opteron CCBWE 0543TPMW @ 240x10, memory 5:6

Little disappointed, confused as to why I'm not getting stable at 2500 or 2600mhz even when the ram is stable and in my initial testing in prime, the CPU hit over 2800 before one of the cores crapped out on me. People with the same stepping seem to be hitting those speeds no problem, guess some more testing needs to be done.

Whoops, just realized my prime screenie was by itself with no cpu info. Will run that overnight and post it. *edit* here we go ~ Errors at 10 hours in "In place large FFT's" ~ I have always found this to be the hardest test to past with the a64's I have built. Doesnt crash in games nor caused one problem at this speed. I'll track down that 10 hour error tho :(

Voltage is set in bios as 1.55 * 107.2% ~ about 1.66vcore. It may run with less voltage, as I am still finetuning. *edit* vcore now @ 1.525 * 107.2% for 1.63vcore

BIOS Volts: 1.5 - Initially had to do appx. 1.55v-(1.5vish+50mV-100mVish 7-shift), but after a couple days now of tweaking/testing and general usage, it's requirements seems to have settled a bit.

Screenshot:

I thought I'd throw in a few more examples onthe screenshot, ie: 44.4ns on Everest latency (also 6169M Read IIRC, don't remember if it was as these same speeds/volts though)..I know you guys do't like SPI/SPIMod shots w/out the end "caclulation done" messages, but I wanted to just throw it in anyway..Forgot to do the CPUZ validation for the screenie, will redo that later (may start own thread on this buildup elsewhere on the forums). Also, ran some other (tests), but also don't recall the acutal settings..

EVGA NF41 SLI Mobo // EVGA 7800gt (good to appx 498-502 core/1.18GHz mem)
XClio 480BL (CWT made - internals look awfully alot like Antec's True 480....)
2x512 OCZ ValueVX
Swiftech Apex Ultra
Pioneer DVR109 (got it working properly again in new setup..maybe the IDE controller is dead/dying on my NF7-S...)

The only thing that is annoying the crap out of me with this system atm is the fact that I don't know if my load temps are good or not..I get anywhere from 37-40c BIOS/IDLE to 50-52 LOAD (via SpeedFan/Jetway MyGuard) at the current volts/speeds..I read that this board overshoots by anywhere from 5-12c..I suppose it could be a bad mount, seeing as this is a) my first w/c setup, b) First bolt-to-board cooling, etc, but I've already mounted this a couple times (when I saw the original BIOS temps), and the spread looked fine - Although I use the old AXP style - put some thermal goop on (Ceramique in this case), and spread w/ my ATM card (or similar)..Temps/ambient temps shouldn't be an issue..I am literally 2 blocks from the beach..Go down tot he end look right and the big ass solar ferris wheel @ the SM pier is maybe 1/4 mile down (Up technically) the beach..I could surely count on my hands the number of days/year it gets over 80-85 here..Firefox weather plugin last night said something like 50F..Didn't feel too far off the mark there.

Oh - and of course I will get to the full 24 hr Prime testing *eventually* but my system is begging to be used now ;)..

ps Decided todo CUSTOM Prime test -- Blend "style" I guess (8k-4096k didn't change that), but set custom memory usage at appx 375M or 400M per core/instance, as letting it just run on it's own devices w blend lead to a super syrupy/slow responding system using nearly 2GB memory..Not too good since I only have the 2x512 OCZ sticks in atm (need to upgrade, either 1x512 thatll play well w 1x512 Corsair XMS 3500 *BH5* and my OCZ, 2x512 to play well with my OCZ, or simply go for some decent 2x1GB sticks (ie: the value G.Skill's seems to do pretty well).

I'll post pics [hopefully] tomorrow.
