Does anyone have any suggestions where they think I can improve any voltages or speeds? My chip and mobo have a hole around 2.7-2.9Ghz and when I tried going over 3 it didn't seem to stable. I had set my voltage up to 1.46 or so and have worked down from there. It took that much just to reach 3.0 and break it in.

What do you think? This is my first rig I have ever overclocked.

It's probably your ram timings. Try using 5-5-5-15 timings and adjust your FSB and ratio so that the ram
runs at 800mhz or less. I wouldn't set your voltage past 1.4v. I'm at 3.2ghz on a Q6600 G0 at 1.31 volts.
Could be your board isn't a good Oc'er though. Your CPU should be able to hit 3.2 with ease though.
Once you find out how fast your cpu can go, then you can try running a different ratio with higher ram speeds.

I used 5-5-5-18 timings when I was OC'ing. I gave plenty of voltage to everything. I have ran at 3.2 before just not stable. And my ram can only run at a max of 800, but I run it at 667 for a 1:1 ratio.

You could try running at 8x multiplier....so Try running at 400 x 8...use 1:1 ratio...and recommended stock timings / voltage on the memory.
this puts your cpu clock at 3.2 and ram at 800 of course. Start with a lower voltage. If it won't boot gradually increase the voltage until it does. Then when running prime 95,
gradually increase the cpu voltage until it's stable. You should be good after running one
hour. Wouldn't run it for more than one hour actually on prime95.

You have no air cooling your northbridge or southbridge/voltage reg coolers. I bet they are running way too hot.

I added a 120mm fan for cooling plus there is the one pulling right behind them on the back. There is good air flow through the case and the volts they run at are quite low. Should not be a problem?

I had that board once. it's junk for overclocking. if you still want sli get at least a asus p5n-e 650i board. I had a e6300 well past 500 FSB on that board. the Nforce 4 chipset was improvised to work with the core2 line.

OOO yea I had that board, 3 months is how long I had it. Only OC'd my FSB from 333 to 415 and after three months the board crashed. I've had this board almost 7 months now same OC just that much more stable. I also went through 2 of the p5n-e boards.

i did as well with the p5n-e. i decided sli just wasnt working well enough so i went to the maximus formula - x38 ( which I now regret getting rid of ) and then to my current DFI board which makes me miss the maximus that much more.

I've got to say the P5N-E sucked, IMHO. Remember all the no post issues we had with those boards, bro? And mine was from flashing an ASUS approved BIOS, no less.
