ha chears,

Well it is:

Desktop manager: GNOME 2.6 http://www.gnomedesktop.org

Icon Theme: Crystal 1.2 http://www.customize.org/details/33109

Display Addons: Gdesklets http://www.gdesklets.gnomedesktop.org/
TopRight Gdesklet = LTVariations
BottomMiddle Gdesklet = StarterBar
BottomLeft Gdesklet = Weather

BackGround Image: ???? http://www.deviantart.com/
Unfortunetly I forgot who made this image. It was a Deviant one tho

I really want to get rid of the bottom bar and use a Gdesklet for the tasklist, however I need summing for aMSN when it is minimised and also trying to get my lass use to Linux so I need summing that resembles windows for now to get her use to it. Then I can get rig of the bottom panel for good

Yes, it is Ylive (chrooted in the build of it anyway). And the monitoring application is superkaramba.

Here's a collection of my superkaramba themes- Link

One is called greesysmonitor, the other is the Tube collection combined with liquidweather. They came naturally enough from KDE-look.org, and I did some minor editing of my own.

Hmmm, next major leap in Knoppix will have to warrant an Overclockix update. Good to know ppl out there still use it.

the fbrun command needs to be fixed for fluxbox, every time I hit the end of the box when typing a command, it kicks my cursor back 2 chars, and moves it over one. Maybe I just need to find a new one to use.

Not to be an ass, but how about instead of browsing forums at work you just work?

:p

That's why I have them all blocked at work. Stop all the forum browsing, and eBay/yahoo auctions and everyone magically started getting all their work done in time.

I am a Admin so during 1-3 hour tape back ups - I don't see how browsing a forum that is fairly tech related and helpful effects my job. If I browsing eBay or Yahoo.com - That is just killing time & a different story.

Lighten up gals' :p

how did you get fluxbox menu's to be transparent?? I run FreeBSD and would love to get my menus transparent!
I believe transparency was added durring the 0.9.X development. its actually a setting you can get too via the menus. I don't remeber exactly where, but its some where in the settings menu.

Hard to read... just fooling around with a theme. I took a wallpaper of a sheet of aluminum and applied a faded image of Da Vinci's notes to the side and used the nixie tube superkarmba theme stuff for the rest. I modifed the DiskVU one to have an extra nixie though. I then colorized the icons by default to wash them out a bit ... they highlight to their orignal colors as the cursor crosses them.

That's gorgeous!

Nice to see I'm not the only one stuck in a middle ground between minimalists and those showy themes. That looks very nice while being just exactly not too much to begin to annoy. Very good job there. If were to pick one thing to complain about, it would be that script is often hard to read in menus and such. It's fine there in your example, just, some idiots like to set their font sizes to 6 or something horrid like that and then you have to do your best to read the seemingly random dots -- which is bad enough with a normal font. Anyway, do understand I'm not criticizing, merely nitpicking. ^_^

BTW, this is kind of going off on a tangent here, but, in relation to themes, is there anything that can be done to fix those AWFUL linux fonts? Half of them are all but unreadable in small sizes and the other half look like crap anyway. I only found one or two I could stand and I had to set EVERYTHING to use them. I know I can install new fonts, but, that only half solves the problem. I need to replace the old ones with some that are readable...

On SUSE, I just install the Microsoft font package. That gets your the usual Courier New, Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana, etc.

Even though the scripted font... Dobkin-like (Esperanza) is not very readable... it should have been aliased well... it looks good to me anyway on my 17in LCD.

I haven't had the "bad font" problem for years now. Even with the distributed fonts.

KDE still hasn't figured out how to package a theme. Even in 3.3... though they make it sound like it's possible... it's very incomplete and frustrating.

Icons are colorized using a dark gray color in hex #5E7274
(decimal RGB: 94 114 116) with colorization at about 80% (estimated from the slider)

Here's the background

Here's the
color scheme

Here's my modified DiscVU

I'm running KDE 3.2 (but on 9.0 not 9.1... harder to get 3.2 on 9.0 now that the rpm's at SUSE have moved 3.3). I got the rpm for kwin with drop shadows for KDE 3.2 off of the kde-look.org site... along with the other SuperKaramba themes.

I don't remember where I got my SuperKaramba rpm from.... but I think it may have been a Connectiva or Mandrake rpm.

Panel is set to transparent... I set the handles to fade in on the panel bar when the cursor goes across them.

You'll have to search for the Dobkin or Esperanza font. The Dobkin font out there is free... the Esperanza I believe is shareware (weenie). Anyway, the Esperanza has more characters in it.

Hmm, I can't figure out how to get VBulletin to create an image that's linked to the full size image.

Eh.

Gentoo Linux, Fluxbox + slightly modified Azure theme from Ikaro at fluxmod.dk, aterm + Artwiz Aleczapka fonts, icons on the left care of idesk.

that is an awesome wallpaper.
can you please post a link to it?

there are a few ways, one would be to use the import program included with imagemagic (might have misspelled the software name) You can also use the Gimp to do it.

I found a util in KDE, thanks :)

Lol, well, I got kind of inspired. I created a really dark theme since I like that kind of thing. Aptly enough, I named it Midnight. (Yeah, there's probably one out there called the same thing, that can't be helped.) Not just because it's so dark, but, after midnight, it's much easier on the eyes. ^_^

Still needs some work though. And I never have figured out how to make color schemes that change bg colors completely browser friendly in linux or in windows. (Browsers just love to ignore one color setting, but use the other, not just in websites, even the menus sometimes...)

alpha.png

Fluxbox 0.9.10, "Operation"-style.
(FreeBSD 5.2.1 + x.org 6.7)

I've got some artifacting, but nothing too serious. (The cyan dots.)
