Post Your Dual Core Opteron Results

See My Sig for further details, only difference is that Currently (As an Experiment), I'm Using the Retail Heatpipe Cooler& TIM, Using instead a 80 x 38 mm Sunon Tornado 84 CFM fan Running 2.55 Ghz 10 X 255FSB 1:1 Cpu Mem Ratio, HTT 4 , 1.37 V Core. The Stock fan is 80 mm, so the Sunon bolts right on perfectly W/ no modding :)

Having some temp issues with my Opty, which leads to what might sound like a stupid question. When everyone speaks of "Priming" (in reference to the overnight running of Prime), are you specifically referring to the torture test?

I still have some testing to do, but im happy with the way this 0546 XPMW is runnin', im sitting at 2.7Ghz @ 1.48v...I tried 2.8 last night and core 0 failed within a minute but core 1 just kept goin...burning in core 0 to hopefully bring it up to spec....i could use 2 FX57's :D

all done on a asrock budget board...im really surprised with this board

the best program i have found for testing is stress prime, just make two folders of it and then uncheck no affinity and set one to cpu0 and one to cpu1 ;)

I have a 170 0546 xpmw and i am sitting at 2.7 with 1.55 vcore as reported by cpu-z 55c loaded on zalman 9500. It seems my k8n neo2 platinum is only good up to fsb of 273 or so, if I cooled voltage regulators or something on the board could i get more of a boost out of it after i burned the processor in some more? Also whats the best program for burning in a processor to get more juice out of it?

opteron 170
CCBWE 0530TPMW
currently running [email protected]
able to run 2.75 and prime indefinately, but CS:S will lock after an hour or so.
I also have to keep my divider fairly low otherwise cs:s will lock, but everything else will work fine. :/
ambient 20C
idle 26C
load 38C
water cooling

I was going to ask if anyone is hitting 270+ HTT with thier ram at 1:1? Im running 2.75ghz but my gskil gbhz's wont do 1:1. this ram supposedly hits 280+ so i would think 275 wouldnt be a problem. It runs fine at 275 htt with 180 divider though, giving the ram 250mhz.

do you know for a fact that your specific sticks can do 280+? if you havent actually tested it that high, turn down ur cpu multi and check, yours may not be as good as other people's. when it doesnt work 275 1:1, but works with a divider, it makes me think that the ram just can't go that high.

***** Stable and Happy OC *****
Chip: Opterown 170 CCBWE 0546XPMW @ 2.8ghz 1.475v
Board: DFI Ultra-D 280 x 3 ht (stable at 280x4... which is unusual)
Cooler: SI-120 w/ Panaflow M1A and AS5 22 C idle 35 C Load
Ram: 2 x 1GB Corsair 4000pt @ 233 3.3.3.8
Video: EVGA 7800GT @ 470/1100 <--- haven't tweaked yet

My opty is kinda wierd...
Wierd in that no matter how many volts I throw at it it won't prime or super pi 2850, but its a rock running 2800 at 1.475v... strangeness indeed.

Cooling with my si-120 and big ass fan mean even running 1.65 volts @ 2.900 the temps never got above 38 degrees cel, yes that 38, and chipset and powerIC temps never get above 49, so its not heat, its just it won't prime stable above 2.8...

Got that all cool 3.0ghz dual core bios and windows cpu-z screen shot, but whatever.

I'm content for now with the oc I finally achieved.
Faster than an FX-60 for 1/3 the price.

My case fan is the loudest thing in my computer... damn old school 80mm antec cases grrrr.

Each opteron seem to have thier own frequency limit. Once it has been reached the voltage required to go any further shoot straight up. Too bad mines 2.75ghz :(

Just got mine in a minute ago.. CCBWE 0550.

Anyone hear how well these babies do?

Holy shit, this thing is sick. This is how I've always wanted my computer to be. Exiting games is instantaneous, and alt-tabbing, my god. Now to get to the overclocking. :)

165 @ 2.7Ghz 1.35V, I could probably get away with stock, but I'm plenty happy where its at.

I haven't tried higher, I just can't possibly throw enough at it and still use it all at the same time to really desire more.

If I could get 2.9, I'd do it, but to even get a 10% jump, I'd have to go to 3.0. So I'll not worry about the differences that 2.7-3.0 would make (if it was possible) as it is right now. I have nothing that is stressing this system.

I'll edit/update tonight with memory scores. I'm gonna start pounding on these G.Skill chips to get from the 3-4-4-8 I got em at, down to between 3-3-3-7 to 3-3-3-8. Not that I need it, but its the e-penis envy in me :)

I have the 170 0546 XPMW using 1.32 V at 2.6 GHz for my 24/7 settings. I can bench at 2.8 Ghz @ 1.45 V, but it gets unreliable after that. The idle temp is reported at 24C (right) by DFI, but the mobo under reports CPU temps by 10 C. So, around 34C idle with watercooling.

Priming @ 2.8 @ 1.43V on a DFI SLI-DR rev. ad0. Temps are high, but I'm switching to the storm block soon. Hoping for 3Ghz!

Also, core 0 is so much stronger than core 1. I could prime all day long with 1.35V @ 2.8 with core 0, but core 1 instantly fails

Could someone explain to me the vcore variance with 1.3/1.35 volts as the rated stock vcore? If I want to set it to stock in the bios, should I be setting 1.3 or 1.35?

Opteron 165

OSA165DAA6CD
CCBWE 0547TPMW

Currently stable at 2.6 289x9. 1.4vcore

Trying for 2.8 311x9

Got my 170 from zipzoomfly by fedex. 0543tpmw

Of course ups's excuse for not bringing my case and w/c kit was " truck missed the package friday morning", also they are closed on saturday.

Operton 165

Currentlly running at 2.808 (312x9) @ 1.44Vcore

CCBWE 0547TPMW from Monarch

Temps up to a max of 102Funcder full load. God i love this CPU ><

hit 2.8 but using crap divider rams @ 156mhz. also 1.55vcore

Opteron 165 (Unknown stepping, I forgot to write it down before I installed it, and I have to remove my entire MB to het my heatsink back on).

2.313 MHZ (257x9.0). I am pretty happy for now. I'm working on my memory now, which seems to hit a wall at just past 210 MHZ.

I want/need 2GB of RAM, so that will probably be my next purchase for this rig.

Just picked up a 0548 XPMW Opteron 170

so far stable at 2.4 GHz, I'll be slowly bumping it up over the next little while

so far my 170 0546XPMW is doing 2800 at 1.54v, and benches at 2.9 w/ 1.6v with no problem.

Gaming - > 2.75GHz @ 1.425 Vcore and 4X HTT Multi
Day-to-Day - > 2.5GHz @ Default Vcore and 4X HTT Multi

(Processor will do 2.6GHz @ Default Vcore, but my RAM won't match it 1:1)

Then why not use a divider? Over and over tests show CPU speed WAY outperforms ram speed...

I have tried both settings: 2.5GHz with RAM 1:1 and 2.6GHz with RAM on a 9/10 divider, and do not notice any tangible performance differences in day-to-day non-gaming activities (benchmarks give the slight nod to the 2.6GHz setting as predicted). Either clockspeed gives me nearly unlimited resources for multi-tasking, but I am sticking with 2.5GHz because I am an anal retentive person and 250:250 just fits so nicely into my little mathematically-perfect-world obsession :D . I just have to say that upgrading to a dual-core CPU has been the most drastic performance increase I've ever experienced. I absolutely love my Opteron and love AMD for pushing the performance envelope.

my Opty 0541RPMW only does 2.6 @1.45V (set to 1.425 on my A8N-SLI Deluxe), even on water. I have yet to reach 2.7GHz, even with 1.5V in PC-Probe :(

But after reading all this, it's time to crank the voltage!

Opteron 170 XPMW. Double Pi's solid @2.6 GHz with 1.4 V. I have an Asus SLI-Premium board and OCz DDR500 RAM (@400). It would be nice to squeeze a bit more out of it, but I cannot complain too much for having an FX-60 under 400 USD.

just got a used CCB1E 0550VPMW from XS. First thing i did was pop it in and get an initial OC. WOW, these CCB1E's run HOT! 47C load under water! That was enough for me to go ahead and pop the lid off of it. Temps dropped to 38C load and its been priming for over an hour now at 2900 1.42v. I have indeed tried for 3Ghz with up to 1.55v and core 0 still failed within a few minutes. Gonna test some more...

My first one was a 165, 0551WPMW did 2.4Ghz on stock voltage and 2.6Ghz on 1.49V.

My new one is a 170 0548XPMW, Its looking pretty good, 2.6 on stock voltage :D Anyone got this one higher ? Im thinking about upping vcore to 1.45v and burn it in for a couple of days and then work on it.

1.35=1.33 for me. That is stock. Do you have an Ultra-D? If not, you should still get a voltage reading in Windows. It varies how much separation there is board to board, but if you want to be sure, just boot it up at 1.35, see what it says in bios. Then boot it up to Windows and see how much of a difference there is in vcore reading. For me, it's usually like .02 something lower.. For example, if I'm booting up at 1.43, it will read as 1.4 on Smartguardian and then 1.408 on CPU-Z. Find the difference (give or take .005) then boot up at Auto on stock settings. Note the readings in Windows again then add the differentiating number to it. It will come up somewhere in between 1.3-1.35, I'm sure. I think they all get similar voltage, but it depends on your PSU and MB. (this is just my theory :D)
