Well I was looking at A Silverstone Zeus 560W (single 12v rail), but the local guy I was going to buy off cant get them and recomended the Thermaltake. However I have heard some bad things about the Thermaltakes in general and was wondering if ther was anything specifically wrong with this one...
Well, are these anygood? I read thru the PSU buying guide but it only makes reference to the lower wattage models. This makes 14A, 23A and 15A over 3 12V rails. The problem is I am looking at buying and overclocking a Intel 920D, and have heard that PSUs with multiple rails cant supply the...
so we could see intel return to calling their CPUs a 686? obviously they no longer need to diferentiate their cpus from AMD and Cyrix, and by using an un-copyrightable name intel would save money not paying for copyright?
I dont think it will matter a great deal. Intel has used the Pentium name for a long time, they are about due for a change...
I definately agree that the various naming systems in place atm are confusing to a the average consumer. It makes me laugh when I can walk into a local computer store...
well as far as I can tell 975 will most likely be january, it is likely that 975x and the 65nm dual cores will launch at the same time - as they will only be supported on 975x i think. the problem is that there is no garantee that conroe will even work on 975, although everything points to this...
the i975x asus boards should be good. the WS version is clocking relatively well i think, and is not even an enthusiast board. there is a P5WD2-e premium coming. this is the enthusiast i975x board by asus.
if you can wait, i would go for the i975x chipset, it is due early next year i think...
*cries*
This is supposed to be a support group?
You should be telling me that everything will be alright, that I can hold out for another 12months. Not telling me that my system lasted you a month? :(
Surely we will see QDR before DDR3? That or somethign more revolutionary like Rambus tried to be. The only problem with rambus I think was paying royalties to both Intel and Rambus.
Good good, thats what I thought, but between us we couldnt find any info regarding dual cores. I have seen it mounted to the board I want to get, so thats all good.
So I have recently changed my mind about going Intel over AMD, as I think it will make more sense for me to buy a AMD based machine. I eventually decided this because ideally I want a dual core system, and at the moment it seems AMD has the better dual core solutions. Anyway, what I would like...
Hmm, well apart from my current rig none of tthese were really mine, but still.
P 200MMX - Thats all I remember.
P3 666Mhz with onboard TNT2 - this is still around, although over its lifespan it has had various HDD and RAM changes.
Then to the rig in my sig.
a bit of everything really, i used to be a pretty hardcore gamer, but havent really gamed much for a while. most of my friends game almost 24/7 and all use A64s - however i dont game nearly as much as them and would like something that can rip/encode fairly well also?
So I am looking at buying a new system, this will be the first system I have ever built from scratch and I need some help?
Here is the system I am looking at:
sparkle 7800gtx
p4 640
western digital 300gb SATA
asus p5wd2 premium
2 x Corsair Value Select PC5300 1Gb Module DDR2
Now I...
two questions...
1) is conroe based on the prescott? my understanding is no?
2) assuming conroe is not based on prescott, will it still be LGA775, or will intel release a new socket and continue using 975chipset for a period?
it would be nice to have both, but i cant seem to convince myself to spend that sort of money.
until then i will most likely stay with intell, although i am currently undecided as to what my next system will actually be. i just like intels because i know them?
OK, so I know this board doesnt supprt SLI, but it does have two PCI-E slots suitable for GPUs and Im told it ships with a SLI type "GT Soft Bridge that appears to be the same cable one would normally be used to connect two similar GeForce 6 cards in SLI mode"? I have read reviews for this board...
So this is prolly a n00b question. But if i was to buy a 400Mhz FSB 1.8GHz Pentium M and do the pin mod to change the FSB does this give me a 2.4GHz CPU (18x133) or will it drop the multiplier to keep the clock speed at 1.8GHz (14x133)?
I would also be interested in hearing this, i was a litttle concerned about using the NF4 chipset at first. I would, however, like the ability to use SLI at a later date, and have read some good reviews about the NF4 Intel boards?
As the title suggest. Just interested to know what people do with there nice high Ghz rigs?
My current rig is used for the net, and occasionally Trackmania Sunrise, would like to upgrade soon.
